Alex chats with us about his music, the upcoming party and what our readers should expect from his signature sounds for this giant night. In addition, music writer DJ FR8-O interviewed everybody's favorite dynamic DJ duo Rosabel about the upcoming 25th Edition Beach Party – the one event not to be missed if you can only attend one Festival event this year. The 25th Edition Winter Party Festival is marking a major milestone in their ever evolving history with a great lineup of international DJs and the best lineup of parties since its inception; including a brand new partnership with party brand Masterbeat, for a weekend dance event at the massive James L. Knight Center, and the 25th Edition Beach Party – the event that started it all in 1994, as the first Miami one-day mega-dance party ever held on the beach.

The weeklong Winter Party extravaganza will welcome the LGBTQ community from around the world to our Magic City from Wednesday, February 28 to Tuesday, March 6, 2018 courtesy of its producer, the National LGBTQ Task Force. This internationally famous LGBTQ festival, with a proud tradition of bringing globally renowned party brands from countries such as Brazil, Italy and Spain, will add world-famous party brand Forever Tel Aviv for the very first time, including the return of its resident DJs Sagi Kariv and Micky Friedmann. Winter Party will also feature an international lineup of iconic DJs from the United States, Mexico, Canada and Spain.

I sat down with Festival Chair Stephen Seo to discuss the 25th Edition Winter Party Festival.

Rafa Carvajal: What is your role with Winter Party Festival?

Stephen Seo: I am the Festival Chair, overseeing the volunteer organization and serving as the lead liaison between the National LGBTQ Task Force staff and volunteers.

RC: Why is Winter Party Festival so important for the Task Force and the LGBTQ community?

SS: 100% of the proceeds from Winter Party Festival go back to fund the work of LGBTQ advocacy community groups in South Florida and the National LGBTQ Task Force. The Task Force works every day to fight for freedom, justice and quality. They mobilize millions of activists across our nation to deliver a world where you can be you.

RC: What should attendees expect at this year's 25th anniversary Winter Party Festival?

SS: Guests should expect this year's Festival to be one created just for them. The Winter Party

Winter Party veterans know and love the Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel, so we're thrilled to go home to the Surfcomber as our host hotel. In addition to our legendary Under One Sun Pool Party on Saturday, March 3, there are two additional poolside events: a tea dance on Thursday, March 1 and a special Winter Party Vagabundos Pool Party on Friday, March 2.

Last year, the crowd loved DJs Rosabel at The Beach Party. For the 25th edition, they are returning for an encore set accompanied by superstar DJ Grind for a special extended 8-hour event.

Planning Committee took the beginning of this season to listen to our guests and understand how we could improve their Winter Party experience. We're making huge changes, including introducing all-new Saturday and Sunday parties at the James L. Knight Center. RC: Describe WPF in three words.

SS: One massive celebration!

RC: How is Winter Party planning to celebrate its 25th-year-anniversary milestone?

SS: We celebrate every year like a milestone year. The guest experience is of utmost importance and the 25th edition will certainly have its standout moments. We booked our guests' favorite DJs, secured the best venues in Miami, and partnered with amazing producers and promoters to ensure an enhanced experience resenting a different color of Gilbert Baker's iconic Rainbow Flag. DJ ALEX ACOSTA TO SPIN AT WPF'S MASTERBEAT TOY FACTORY PARTY

ne of the biggest highlights of the 25th Edition Winter Party Festival is expected to be the Masterbeat Toy Factory Party on Saturday night. I sat down with DJ Alex Acosta to chat about his music, the upcoming party and what our readers should expect from his signature sounds for this giant night.

RC: How did you get started with music?

AA: It was at a small bar in Mexico back in 1996, I think. The DJ they hired didn't show up and one of my coworkers told the manager that I was a DJ (I wasn't, I was just a music aficionado), so he told me, "It's all you, make it happen" and so I did. After that night, I became the resident DJ of that bar/club and that's how I started my career as a professional DJ. On the production side, I needed to create my own material, so I started to play with things here and there and taught myself music, as well as production. Years later, I had the pleasure to produce remixes for people such as Kristine W, Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Nick Jonas, LeAnn Rimes and many more.

Rafa Carvajal: Tell our readers about yourself.

DJ Alex Acosta: I'm a DJ/producer originally from Leon, Mexico. I have been in the industry for the past 20 years, have had the opportunity to play all over the world, and always ensure people have an amazing time with my music.

RC: How did you become involved with WPF? AA: I remember coming to WPF years ago. I loved it and met some of the people behind it.

From there, they had the chance to see me live at other events throughout the U.S. I remember it was after a NYE weekend event in Los Angeles that a few of them heard me live, and booked me for that WPF. It was a Thursday night event.

I arrived, served it, and from there on our working relationship started. This is my third year performing at WPF and I'm very happy to be part of this 25 year milestone! I'm ready to give it my all on their 25th year anniversary Saturday night party – Masterbeat Toy Factory.

RC: Describe your personal sound while DJing.

AA: Regardless of where I play at, I always bring my Latin flavored drums. It's fueled with high energy beats and lots of build-ups that take you on a musical journey throughout the night.

I can go from tribal to tech house to techno, and then create a moment by throwing a track for everyone to raise their hands and enjoy it... and then bring them back up, without losing the energy.

RC: Give us a preview of the Masterbeat Toy Factory party at this year's 25th Edition Winter Party Festival.

AA: I can definitely tell you that I am preparing lots of surprises, and working on special versions of existing tracks for that night. So, get ready for a musical journey and that's all I will say. The ones who have heard me before kind of have an idea on what to expect, and the new ones, be prepared to enjoy yourselves to the fullest. I seriously can't wait for it.

AA: I'm looking forward to seeing everyone have a great time, and see their smiling faces at the end of the night.

RC: What does Winter Party mean to you?

AA: A must-do weekend of the year. It's a unique experience because you get the chance to gather with many of your friends from all over the world, and have an amazing time with them. At the same time, while you're having fun, you're also helping a great cause by raising money – which is what Winter Party is all about.

DJ FR8-O: What is going through your thoughts as you prepare for the 25th Edition Winter Party Festival Beach Party?

Rosabel: Preparing for this event takes a lot of knowledge of the actual crowd that goes to The Beach Party. It's not just about another circuit party on a beach. It caters to people from the past and present, so the music should be catering to all types of visitors, not just towards the nighttime party goers. It's a super large T-dance, so we prepare the right songs for the right moments – from classics to the present.

DF: What do you like the most about DJing at The Beach Party?

R: WPF's Beach Party is one of a kind! Playing in the open air on a dance floor in front of the Atlantic Ocean and the white sands of Miami Beach is priceless!

For 25 years, millions of LGBTQ men and women from around the globe have gathered in Miami around this time of the year to party, play and dance to the world's most astounding DJs. This year will be no different as DJ Ralphi Rosario and DJ Abel Aguilera (aka Rosabel) turn up the heat at one of Winter Party revelers' favorite events – The Beach Party. I caught up with the dance floor's dynamic duo to chat about what shiny surprises they've got planned for us on Sunday, March 4.

DF: What will you be bringing to WPF's silver anniversary?

R: Expect music that lifts you up. Expect the classics, the fun songs, and the unexpected studio private editions you will only hear when we play.

DF: Will you be debuting any hot new tracks for us?

R: Yes, indeed! Our new projects are focused on our new album, Rosabel, so you might get a couple snippets here and there.

DF: What were you doing this month 25 years ago?

R: 25 years ago Abel was spinning at Paragon and actually spinning for the Winter Party sanctioned event there.

DF: What would you like to say to your fans from around the world who are coming to The Beach Party?

RC: How will this Miami Layover at the Palace differ from your NYE Flight 2018 out of Fort Lauderdale?

PA: This show will differ because we won't be in a church, we will be in a palace and "Every Queen Needs A Palace." Pam Ann's Miami Layover will be mostly audience participation in the true sense of the Palace – everyone gets involved! The venue itself is more intimate and it's a completely different vibe, so be prepared for the unexpected because Pam Ann has never performed at the Palace Bar; and the Palace Bar has never had an international celebrity air hostess touchdown. Hopefully, it's the beginning of wonderful things to come with my Palace family one would get served, nor would any passengers dare to complain or ask for anything! Rafa Carvajal: Tell our readers about your company and what you offer for their travel needs.

Elaine Fitzgerald: Beach Vacation Rentals offers tourists, staycationers and business travelers short-term cottage and apartment rentals at five top-rated boutique properties in Pompano Beach/greater Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

They are authentic Florida historic and vintage properties with studios, 1/1s and 2/2s that have been restored and maintained in pristine condition, with modern conveniences added.

All properties are within a two-minute walk to Pompano's spectacular new beachfront, and a short walk to dozens of restaurants, shops and dive boats. Small dogs are invited too! These properties are quiet and serene, but in great locations close to the action when you want it.

They include Cottages by the Ocean, Bahama Beach Club, Sunny Place, Pineapple Place and Pelican Place.

RC: Tell us about some of the amenities that you offer.

EF: Guests enjoy full kitchens, king beds, BBQ, guest laundry, and swimming pools at most properties. Beach gear, books and family games are included. Guests enjoy free Wi-Fi, free parking and pay no resort fees.

RC: Why are your top rated properties in Pompano Beach so popular with your guests?

EF: Our guests love that they are buying an authentic experience staying at any of our properties. I personally greet our guests upon arrival.

I'm available to answer their questions or help with itineraries, and then leave them alone to enjoy their stay. My maintenance chief and I are just a phone call away if they need anything. We offer a complete alternative to staying at a traditional hotel. It's more private and quiet, with so many more comforts of home.

You have the space of a full cottage or apartment for the same price as a single hotel room.

The gardens are lush and tropical with every property being a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. It's a special program for businesses, schools and backyards that meet all the criteria to provide food, water, shelter and places to raise young for native and migrating birds and butterflies.

RC: How do your properties differ from others in the area?

EF: First of all, our properties are members of the Superior Small Lodging Association, which means we are required to meet much higher standards than traditional hotels for cleanliness, quality and service in annual surprise inspections. Unlike renting an apartment from a private individual, we are licensed, have staff

and operate with all of the standards of a well-run business, so there are no mysteries or surprises in what you are getting. We are a multiple White Glove Award winner by the Superior Small Lodging Association, and have attained the highest reviews on TripAdvisor, earning their 2017 Certificate of Excellence. We also won the 2017 Travel Writers' Experts' Choice Award with our high reviews from travel guides like Lonely Planet and Fodors, placing us in the "Top two percent of U.S. Hotels." We were recommended by the New York Times Sunday travel article as "Best Place to Stay."

RC: Out of the five properties, which is your favorite and why?

EF: Each property is equally nice, but different, so it becomes personal preference. My favorite is Cottages by the Ocean, even though that property does not have a swimming pool. It does have big, screened-in, private porches that our guests love, and the property is historic for Pompano Beach. These were the first "resort" cottages at a time when pineapple fields covered the surrounding area. They are adorable – like little doll houses. We do tend to house singles, couples and business people at Cottages by the Ocean, Bahama Beach Club and Sunny Place because they have mostly studios and 1/1s.

We direct families with children more often to Pineapple Place and Pelican Place because those properties have 2/2s.

RC: What do your guests enjoy the most about staying in your properties?

EF: Guests appreciate that our properties are quiet and pretty, and close to everything.

RC: What tours and adventures do you suggest for your guests?

EF: Each apartment has a brochure stand with the A-list of things to do, and our guest books include a two-page write-up titled "Elaine's Best Bets." If someone is from out of town and wants to see places unique to our area that they can't see anywhere else in the world, I suggest things to do that cumulatively among our past guests have been rated the best: • A snorkel or dive trip to Shipwreck Park, just one mile offshore from Pompano's fishing pier, with 17 wrecks and sunken artwork. This vast artificial reef system and cultural arts park is designed to be fun for divers and takes the pressure off of natural reefs nearby.

• A round of golf at the only Greg Norman signature course ever designed on a public golf facility, so at Pompano's municipal golf course the public can play a designer course at public golf course rates.

• A visit to the free spectator area at the Goodyear Blimp base, where the blimp goes up and down every 20 minutes when it's in town. Awesome to see 12 big guys grab the ropes to bring it down on the tarmac while passengers unload and new passengers board, and the men let up on the ropes and away she goes again.

• A full day trip to Billie Swamp Safari which I believe is by far the best Everglades experience out there.

• A two hour visit to Butterfly World – a beautiful botanical garden that houses the world's largest butterfly farm.

• An evening on the Jungle Queen to see the wealth and beauty of our Venice of America.

RC: Describe Beach Vacation Rentals in 3 words.

EF: The tagline we use and always try to live up to is "comfort, charm and value."

RC: What is the best feedback you've ever received from your guests?

EF: Several business people have become regular customers and sometimes call at the last minute to say they are on their way. We have been told, "Just put me anywhere, Elaine. If it's one of your apartments it will be perfect."

RC: Tell us about some of the Hot Deals you guys have at the moment.

EF: High season does not come with specials, but our rates drop nearly in half starting the week after Easter and all the way through early December. Guests who visit us between May 1 and October 15 are given unlimited use of special VIP passes that get them two people for the price of one into more than 60 of the most popular things to do in the area. These include Elaine's "Best Bets" mentioned above, as well as things like snorkel trips, sunset catamaran trips, historic home tours and much more.
