PUBLISHER'S CORNER TRUMP'S DIRECT ATTACK ON YOUR HEALTH & YOUR WALLET On October 25, 2016 incompetent, failing Donald Trump said the following about Obamacare in a televised speech: "My first day in office, I am going to ask Congress to put a bill on my desk getting rid of this disastrous law and replacing it with reforms that expand choice, freedom, affordability. You're going to have such great healthcare at a tiny fraction of the cost. And it's going to be so easy." This statement turned out to be just another Trump lie and a fake promise he did not deliver on due to his incompetence and lack of leadership skills. This man could not get this done even with an absolute majority in both the House and the Senate. After lying and failing on the replace and repeal of the Affordable Care Act, Trump also directly interfered with the insurance marketplaces created under Obamacare by announcing last month that his administration would immediately stop supporting the cost-sharing subsidies which reimburse insurers for reducing the deductibles and copays of lower-income enrollees in the Affordable Care Act. The end result has been a sharp increase in the insurance premiums many people are being quoted as they prepare to renew their health insurance. Several of my friends and acquaintances have reported experiencing large premium increases during this year's Affordable Care Act open enrollment period for 2018, which runs from November 1 to December 15, 2017. Trump has no qualms leaving millions of our fellow citizens without healthcare coverage to "save money," while advocating for a huge tax decrease for his millionaire and billionaire friends – which he is trying to disguise as a tax cut for the middle class in another typical Trump ruse based on outright lies and misinformation that will only lead to much higher federal budget deficits. BRINGS NEW MEANING TO SOUL t is amazing how new beginnings can bring out the best in us. For Kelly Clarkson, that new beginning arrived at the end of her seemingly endless contract with RCA Records. The partnership – along with fame and fortune – was her reward for out-singing the competition during American Idol's inaugural season. While the prize may sound like any singer's dream come true, it's no big secret that Kelly was over it ages ago and ready for a change. With the ink on her shiny new Atlantic Records deal still wet, Kelly has finally gifted us with an album she refers to as the one she's always wanted to make. If a young Aretha Franklin were to record her first album in 2017, it would probably sound a lot like Meaning of Life. No longer is Kelly bound to the pop-rock chains that admittedly served her very well for over a decade. This time around we get to experience the full-bodied, old-school soul and classic R&B she's been dying to unleash on us for all these years. The album's lead single, "Love So Soft" might have come off as gimmicky on its own, but actually sets the tone for the rest of the set, which is ripe with Kelly's signature belts, wails and riffs. Framed in vintage-style instrumentation and addictive hooks, the incredibly talented producers – Mozella, The Monarch, Jesse Shatkin, Mick Schultz, Nick Ruth, Jussifer, NOVA Wav, Fade Majah, Jason Halbert and Greg Kurstin – do a flawless job of weaving in just enough modern touches into these tracks to keep them feeling seamlessly from start to finish. That's mostly thanks to the ballads sprinkled throughout to break up the session. We always have amazing guys at the parties there, and you can't beat a Sunday recovery relaxing on the beautiful beaches in Miami. RC: What has made the PAPA Party such a successful series? EC: I think what makes PAPA so successful is the energy we create at every party. We don't take ourselves too seriously and want everyone to have fun. People everywhere are able to discover, subscribe to and read Wire Magazine weekly. As publisher, I am also able to meet some incredibly talented individuals by communicating with them online – and to share their work with our readers in print, digital issue, wiremag.com, Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Such was the case with Russian photographer Stas Vokman, who read an issue of Wire Magazine across the planet and sent us a message on our Facebook page asking if he could submit some model photos for possible publication. After replying to Stas and receiving a very nice sampling of his photos, I decided to share his very hot models with Wire Magazine readers the world over. I also interviewed Stas, so he could tell us first hand about his work and the gorgeous men in his photographs. Rafa Carvajal: How did you become a professional photographer of male models? Stas Vokman: I do not consider myself a professional photographer. In my opinion, a professional is a man who has reached some heights of excellence. For me, such persons are Tony Duran, Paul Freeman and David Vance. RC: What do you enjoy most about your work photographing great looking men? SV: I love discovering new faces. I like when the model begins opening up and showing his charisma.

RC: How do you find your male models? SV: At the very beginning of my career, I collaborated with one of Moscow's strip clubs. Male strippers are very revealing and are prone to exhibitionism. They have a high demand for showing themselves off. They assert themselves by showing their nudity. It's not a big effort to attract such a guy for a shooting. That's how I quickly developed my portfolio. RC: What do you look for in the models you photograph? SV: First of all, emancipation. It is much harder to work with notorious models. All other factors are not so important, such as intelligence or physical shape. If a man is ready for work, he will easily put a new role up for himself. And any physical flaws can be simply hidden by ratio of shadow and light. RC: What have you learned through photographing people? SV: The most important thing I have learned is that all people are different and their appearance might be deceitful. Sometimes there is a vulnerable personality behind a mass of muscle. Very few people have enough harmony to be intelligent, have charisma and a beautiful body all at once, and that is what makes my job more valuable. RC: What is your favorite place to do photo shoots? Explain why. SV: It is a studio for sure. When shooting in a studio you run the process and do not depend on many factors like weather, for example. In a studio, I feel at ease and if something does not go the way it was planned, I can rapidly change and have the shooting done. RC: Describe your photography style for our readers. SV: I work in several styles. Everything depends on my aim or the model. But the thing that I like most, and my passion, is illusion to the art of the Renaissance period. Usually, it is one source of light to get a high contrast photo with warm colors.

RC: Describe your work in 3 words. SV: Light, volume, erotic. RC: What do you want people to feel after looking at your photographs? SV: I've never thought of it from that point of view. I do not think that there is a mission in erotic photography. It is more about calling out for some emotion. RC: What has been your favorite photo shoot and why? SV: For now, it was a shoot I did in Dubai. I met a Ukrainian guy there and we agreed to hold a shoot the next day. Everything was easy and informal. I found a place on the coast by chance. There were old boats and torn sails, which looked really unusual in that modern city. The shoot went by very fast. Several magazines took those photos to press, which encouraged me a lot. Since that time, I have already done several shoots with that guy and we even become friends. In general, I can say that every shoot that ends up in a friendship with a model becomes my favorite. RC: What is your current struggle? SV: It is a struggle with the stereotype in Russian society that a nude body is something vulgar and connected with an expression of homosexuality. RC: Where can our readers learn more about you and follow your work? SV: You can find me on most social media outlets like Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr and Facebook. My Instagram is stas_vokman. There are different audiences and different content on my social media outlets. Let's just say there are some X-rated photos on my Twitter.

aintaining healthy lifestyle habits doesn't stop at exercise and well-balanced nutrition. The major impact behavioral health has on unhealthy weight gain and lifestyle practices has been studied and clinically proven. Think about it – the root of everything we do each day is related to our choices, but what drives those choices? Our good ole noggin does; yet, we can't always trust what our mind is telling us that we should or shouldn't do. Even further, and more alarming, many times we make choices that we don't even realize we're making – especially when it comes to what we eat. Munching away at that bag of chips and not knowing how you ate the whole thing; or going in on that pint of ice cream and then later going back for more, but then realizing that there is none left because you ate the entire thing – that is mindless eating, and we are all susceptible to it.
It's time for Mindful Eating 101. To be a mindful eater means that you are present, aware, and in control of your eating habits. Sounds simple, sure, but I think we can all agree it's not that easy. The goal is to gain that full sense of awareness in your eating experiences, so that you're able to identify and associate cravings versus physical or hunger cues. Just because you feel hungry doesn't mean your body actually is. Here are some tips to help you get there. The convenience of food makes mindless eating a stronger possibility. It sounds minor, but making sure that those unhealthy foods are not within distance of you reaching them will help you avoid heading towards them to start with.

Keep your own dentist! The size of our plates also contribute to ignoring your satiety cues. The U.S. is known for having larger plate sizes leading us to fill the plate to the rim – eating with our eyes, so to speak. Instead, grab a smaller plate from the cabinet which will help you eat only to the point of feeling full and not overeating. Eat slower! Studies show that you should be taking at least 20 minutes to eat a meal. When you don't and rush the food in, you're cutting off the communication between your brain and your stomach to know that you're full. It is also important to distinguish between actual hunger and the desire to eat. For example, you finished dinner and you find yourself jonesing for something else. Stop, and ask yourself: Why? Am I feeling hunger pains? Am I feeling bored, sad, lonely, angry, upset? If the answer is related to an emotional response, then that is where you catch yourself in a state of mindfulness to know that what you're feeling is not physical hunger, but an emotional one. Knowing the difference between the two will help you start to understand the difference between physical and emotional satiety. Mindfulness, in any scenario, takes practice, effort and time. Try to stop and listen to what your body is physically asking of you. If you're still having trouble, speaking with your primary care physician or a mental health professional may be beneficial as there may be underlying root causes to your habits that can be addressed through treatment. Either way, it is about making a better choice – I'd say that is one step forward into not only becoming a mindful eater, but also a mindful human being.
