WIRE DÜSSELDORF PREVIEW Suppliers to the wire and cable industry will once again share their latest technology at the Fairgrounds at Messe Düsseldorf when the week-long event is held April 15-19. At press time, the exhibitor count was 1,380 for the wire event and 1,085 for its sister tube event. If a manufacturer has needs, solutions will be waiting to be explored. The week promises to be both busy and worthwhile.
In 2022, wire Düsseldorf returned to the Fairgrounds after the 2020 event was lost to Covid. The event saw a total of 1,822 wire and Tube exhibitors from more than 50 countries present their technology and services, and while those are impressive numbers, the organizer, Messe Düsseldorf, is anxious to carry the momentum forward, and they have been quite busy (see p. 48). Regarding wire Düsseldorf, Daniel Ryfisch, director of wire and Tube 2024, reports that the outlook is quite good. He discussed that in a posted interview last August with JÖrg Dambock, editor-in-chief of Germany’s Draht magazine.

In the interview, Ryfisch said that the Messe was seeing strong support for the biennial event. “With a little luck, wire will reach pre-crisis levels in 2024. That would be an incredible success. For 2024, we initially expect over 65,000 square meters to be occupied at wire and around 1,200 exhibitors from 65 countries.” Fast forward to the latest numbers (1,380 as of Jan. 28) and it was clear that the projections had easily been eclipsed. One factor is the return in numbers of exhibitors from China in Hall 14 (wire) and 7 (Tube). They will share their concentrated expertise under the “Meet China’s expertise” motto.

Ryfisch told Dambock that the Messe expects a strong performance from U.S. companies again. In 2022, 78 exhibitors from the USA came to Düsseldorf for wire and Tube, including 55 companies that exhibited wire machines and wire products at wire 2022, and 23 at Tube 2022. wire Düsseldorf notes that it has long had strong support from European companies as well as USA, Mexico, Taiwan, China, South Korea and Japan, while countries like Poland, Czech Republic, Romania,
Hungary and the Baltic States continued to be more important. “Overall, wire and Tube are among the most international events in Messe Düsseldorf’s portfolio, with trade fair guests from over 130 countries.” The pages that follow include booth listings, an alpha list of exhibitors, an update on Messe activity and a series of Products Showcases by a range of industry suppliers.
