Travel Advice

We would ALWAYS recommend, where possible, travelling to the Carnival by foot.

Access for foot traffic will be via Myddleton Lane (Leisure Centre & Park entrances) & via Faringdon Road only. Please note that there will be no access via The Swan/Premier Inn car park.

Please be aware there is, sadly, no ATM in the village and, currently, no contactless/card payments accepted on the gate which remain cash only.

If travelling by foot is not possible or practical there is a regular bus (No.19 Warrington – Culcheth – Leigh & vice-versa) run by Warrington’s Own Buses which stops on Myddleton Lane in the village.

From Warrington Bus Interchange at 12.02 and 14.02

From Leigh Bus Station at 12.54 & 14.54

There is NO public car parking onsite on the day due to the safety of everyone walking around the field being prioritised.

Please be aware that Myddleton Lane will, undoubtedly, be very busy and we do not recommend parking there. If you MUST park on a residential street please ensure you are not blocking any entrances or causing a hazard to residents and/or other drivers!

There is a small car park situated alongside the St Oswald’s Church accessed via Church Walk though this is not owned by the Carnival and may be in use/full on the day.

The car park at The Swan/Premier Inn is privately owned and you may be charged for parking there, please be aware that none of that money goes towards the Carnival.

Winwick Carnival are not responsible or liable for any damage to vehicles offsite.

A Warm Welcome To Winwick Carnival 2023

A huge thank you to everyone joining us for this, our 19th, annual carnival!! Let's hope that the good weather continues to favour us!

After the success of our 2022 Carnival, this year has been a hard act to follow but we hope you like what we have put on for your entertainment. It is always a daunting task planning something to compete with, and do credit to, the excellent 'Winwick Carnivals' of previous years and we've again tried to do this by combining old traditions with some new ideas.

In our main show arena we have some really top notch entertainment for you and are pleased to announce we have for your enjoyment, Little Nippers Terrier Racing, Ridgeside Falconry with their wonderful arena displays .... feel free to ask questions at their static display where you can get up closer and learn more about the animals from their dedicated, passionate and very knowledgeable trainers whilst helping to support their excellent work!

We are also very happy to welcome back the wonderfully talented team of young dancers from Warrington's very own Legends Dance Academy who will once again be entertaining us in the main arena later in the day.

We are delighted that, despite initial concerns, we can again can offer 'all the fun of the fair' with the thrilling rides which are always very popular ..... particularly with those with stronger stomachs!!

There are some wonderful locally produced foodstuffs and crafts on our stalls and we highly recommend you try some of their products for yourself.

If you would like to join us and get involved in the planning for next year's Carnival, don't be shy, come and introduce yourself to one of the Carnival Committee or keep your eyes open in the Warrington Guardian, our website at www.winwickcarnival.co.uk or on social media via our Facebook page for when we are next meeting.

You will be made to feel very very welcome so why not give us a bash?

That just leaves us to wish everyone another wonderfully enjoyable fun-packed day so!!!

Little Nippers Terrier Racing

The ‘Little Nippers’ are the latest addition to the Ridgeside Family – and they can’t wait to bring real mayhem to our Carnival.

In the arena they will race both over obstacles and at full speed chasing the electric lure. They offer a fast, action-packed demonstration with an informative and humorous commentary by Phill.

The public will also have the chance to “have a go” with your own dogs – whatever their breed!

Not only great fun for the dogs –we think you will love it too !

Ridgeside Falconry

Ridgeside Falconry is the largest mobile display team in the Country providing County Shows, Carnivals, Fairs and Special Event Days with Falconry Demonstrations.

Their Birds of Prey Demonstrations consist of a static display of approximately 15 Birds of Prey from around the world, including owls, falcons, hawks, eagles and vultures, plus a spectacular free flying display.

Their highly skilled team are always on hand to give advice and share their extensive knowledge of falconry. They also like to get the public as involved as they can during demonstrations and shows, including handling birds.

All hawks are in prime condition to ensure a fantastic demonstration. We can guarantee a fantastic display from these magnificent creatures and their handles!!

Tearing up Argos books, bending six inch nails in his teeth, walking on a bed of broken glass, holding a chair with a seated lady on it in his teeth.

These along with more serious feats of strength – including a vehicle pull are just some of the feats he’ll perform.

Go on Dads!! Compare your muscles … We dare you!!

The Mighty Smith Strongman

Adrian Smith, was a former bodybuilder before becoming a strongman competitor.

Trained by the legendary Geoff Capes, Adrian came 5th in the World’s Strongest Man and was a three times winner of UK’s Strongest Man Competition,

He presents a show geared for family fun with visual humour and audience participation including challenging the kids to a tug of war!!!

Classes are held weekly in Winwick, Newton, Culcheth and Sankey for ages 3-16yrs.

Covering commercial, contempary & street dancing all culminating in an annual show and carnival performance like today!
