As we say goodbye to 2021, a pivotal year as UAE turns fifty, let us set our sights on the next fifty and welcome a brand-new year on a note of positivity, gratitude, and jubilation.
UAE is basking in its jubilee year celebrations and now looks ahead to the future with unwavering ambition and resolve – something that once again reminds us that nothing is impossible if one's grit and perseverance remain steadfast. And at the same time, this milestone celebration has deepened the sense of gratitude towards this nation for leaving no stone unturned and for safeguarding the happiness and wellbeing of all citizens and residents. In this issue of WIN Times, we have very consciously brought together articles which celebrate this beautiful nation we all call home – UAE world records, cuisine, sports, animals, environmental initiatives, space exploration, UAE's journey from sands to the stars, art, poetry, Expo attractions, and a lot more.
When it comes to celebrations, it will not be wrong to say that every day is a celebration at Winchester with the impressive array of achievements and laurels secured by the students and teachers in a myriad of competitions and activities. With great pride, we document four of those impactful events – the UAE National Day celebrations, the Dubai Fitness Challenge 30x30 initiative, WIN Wellbeing Week, and Winchester Summer Reading Challenge 2021.
You will also find our regular columns – from a succinct description of the family vs friends dilemma, to decoding Marxism, to delving into the fascinating world of Lemony Snicket – the diverse nature of our offerings is something we strive for to upkeep our promise of providing you, our valuable readers, with a thought-provoking reading experience.
I take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to every contributor who has made this issue so special. Thank you Team WIN Times for being the superstars that you are!
