Elevation:

The resort rises from approximately 800 feet above sea level in the valley at Stoney Creek to an elevation of 3,850 feet on the mountain.

Climate:

Seasonal, with mountain cool temperatures and low humidity in spring and summer. Summer temperatures rarely exceed 82 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Colder temperatures in winter, combined with the mountain elevation, provide excellent snowmaking conditions December through March.

3-3-3 Junior Golf Programs  Junior Golf Clinic: Offered in conjunction with the Resort Daily Clinic, for junior golfers ages 7 to 14. Focus is on teaching the fundamentals of golf with fun games in a group environment.  Junior Tennis/Golf Programs: Children ages 7 to 14 are invited to participate in this popular program that exposes them to both golf and tennis. This summer program runs out of Stoney Creek June through August and is offered from Monday –Thursday. Sign up for the week or just a day and let your children enjoy “fun”damentals in both sports.  Nike Junior Golf Camps: US Sport Camps and Wintergreen Resort have teamed up to present the Nike Junior Golf camps. Camp offerings are held each summer for the junior golfer who is either a beginner or a tournament player. Session options include a weeklong overnight camp, an extended day camp or a day camp. Snowsports:

Winter skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing and ice skating  24 slopes and trails, with beginner-to-expert terrain  14 slopes lighted for night skiing  100% Techno Aplin computerized snowmaking system  Two terrain parks – snow features, jibs and rails  Five chairlifts, including two high-speed, six-passenger chairlifts  The Plunge – a 900-foot, multi-lane snowtubing hill  Ridgely’s Fun Park – a place for children to play in the snow and includes a tamer snowtubing experience, for ages two and up  Snowsports School – instruction for all ability levels, Discover Skiing & Snowboarding program featuring discounted rates on a multiple visit lesson package.  Wintergreen Adaptive Sports (WAS) – nonprofit organization that provides skiing and snowboarding lessons to children and adults with disabilities, www.skiwas.org  Shamokin Ice, located in the heart of the mountain village, is a 45 x 90 foot rink that accommodates up to 60 skaters.

Located at the Trillium House at Wintergreen Resort, the Wintergreen Nature Foundation is a non-profit organization that encourages the understanding, appreciation and conservation of the natural resources of Central Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. The foundation functions as a research and education facility and serves as a host site for conservation efforts, www.twnf.org.

Wintergreen Performing Arts is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Wintergreen and Central Virginia residents and visitors. The Copper Mine Bistro Serves a traditional breakfast in the morning and an innovative Mediterranean menu at dinner with a creative menu of large and small plates and the popular gourmet pizzas.
