Dear Families and Friends, The Board of Trustees, campus leaders, and I thank you for continuing to so generously support Winston Prep during such an unprecedented school year. The funds raised during the 2019-2020 fiscal year supported the work of the Winston Innovation Lab. This past spring demonstrated, now more than ever, how vital the Winston Innovation Lab (WIL) truly is for students who learn differently. The Lab was the cornerstone of our Distance Learning Program and enabled us to successfully deliver an innovative, individualized, and responsive educational program live, full-time, online, and unlike any other school. The WIL Faculty Learning Portal, created as an online resource that connects the WPS campuses as one cohesive and cooperative community, was an invaluable tool for sharing successful methods, teaching resources, and relevant research and articles for distance learning best practices. With the incredible support of Winston’s extraordinary teachers, our students displayed resilience, self-regulation, and management and organizational skills, among the other characteristics of the Qualities of a Sustainable and Independent Learner (QSIL), and excelled in an unfamiliar remote learning environment. Despite a global pandemic, other WIL projects such as Lives Over Time, Fostering Wellness, Teacher Excellence and Leadership Program, and The Landmark College Partnership continued to expand and reach new program milestones, enabling us to improve educational outcomes and significantly change the lives of each individual WPS student and the field of education. As I reflect on the 2019-2020 school year and the outpouring of support we received from this remarkable community, I am reminded of the theme we had planned for the 2020 Spring Benefit: Empowerment. While the public health crisis forced us to cancel one of the most memorable events of the year and our primary fundraising event, you still came together as one community to empower the lives of over 500 students across 6 campuses and 4 states. And while we weren’t gathered together physically at Cipriani, you remained unwavering in your commitment to support the work of the Winston Innovation Lab, which continues to be vital to understanding each student’s unique way of learning and the lives of young people who learn differently. Thank you for your generous contributions that empower us to always strive to do more and do better. Warmest regards,

Scott Bezsylko

Winston is more than just a school. It’s a community. Even on my first day, the support I was shown was unlike anything else. It was clear to me that the teachers here actually cared about each and every student. In the past, I had really struggled with school in general and I had lost my motivation. Here, at Winston, my teachers worked with me until I understood everything clearly. I felt like I had finally found the place where I belonged.
