The Board of Trustees, our campus leadership, and our faculty and staff join me in thanking you for generously supporting the Winston Innovation Lab during the 2021-22 school year.
With the close of another year at Winston Prep, we recognize and celebrate our students, our families, and our faculty, not only for their incredible resilience, ingenuity, and perseverance throughout the global health crisis, but also for the vision and strength required to successfully launch our California campus and Winston Online during a pandemic.
We also celebrate that expansion and growth, our ability to reach more and more students each year with a unique and powerful educational program that is rooted in science and that has transformed so many lives over the last four decades. We can say today that Winston Prep is coast to coast. Students across the country, who previously faced so many challenges in school, now have a place where they feel safe, understood, supported, confident, and eager for their future.
But it remains as true today as ever that our power, endurance, and efficacy come from our deep understanding of each unique child and from creating an individualized program for each student that responds to their strengths and needs and that changes with them as they grow over time. No matter how many campuses we have or how many students, our foundation will always be one child at a time.
This annual report of giving acknowledges the individuals and organizations that supported us this year and made this growth and progress possible. 2022 Spring Celebration
Our inaugural Spring Celebration, One Child at a Time, launched this year during the last week of March with an eblast video featuring Winston Prep senior Braden looking back on his time at our Connecticut campus. Braden spoke about the individualized learning and expert teachers he had at Winston Prep and how they helped him to develop the skills and knowledge to succeed in high school, graduate, and prepare for college in the fall.
The Spring Celebration campaign extended over the next seven weeks, and subsequent eblasts highlighted students from each Winston Prep campus. They shared personal stories about their experiences at Winston Prep and how the programming–which is customized to actively respond to each student’s learning needs and strengths over time–and caring faculty not only changed their attitudes about and performance in school, but also impacted their life trajectories. It was wonderful to witness these students’ stories and to share them with all of our campuses and the extended Winston Prep community.
The final week of the campaign also included a spirited virtual auction, which featured over forty amazing items donated by Winston Prep families, faculty, and friends. Our community had the opportunity to vie for some great items, everything from incredible European retreats to a variety of sports and entertainment packages. Even our Heads of School participated by donating special excursions and experiences for our students.
Although the pandemic prevented us from holding the culminating party we planned in Midtown Manhattan, most ticket holders for this event donated the cost of their tickets to the campaign, and all of our donors and sponsors allowed us to retain their generous gifts. Even our Marin County campus was able to host their own festivities locally, an on-campus celebration with great food and live music.
The 2022 Spring Celebration generated extraordinary support for the Winston Innovation Lab and its many vital projects. This success was made possible by the overwhelming generosity of Winston Prep families, faculty, friends, education partners, local businesses, and the generous contributions of Winston Prep’s 2022 Corporate Sponsors. A special thank you to Rhonda Mace, Benefit Committee Chair, and our Campus Coordinators.
