Meet Grey

Grey joined Winston Transitions with specific goals: to build a strong foundation for college, the workplace, and adult life . It was recognized he needed a “longer runway” and a program that would prepare him academically, equipping him with the essential life and work skills needed to thrive in a world filled with opportunities and challenges. Winston Transitions became that bridge, offering him the support, structure, and skill-building experiences he needed to achieve his dreams and goals.

Learning Through Real-World Experience

One of the most impactful parts of Grey’s year at Transitions was his internship placement at a local NYC bakery. There, he learned the intricacies of the job, including everything from customer service to time management, problem-solving, and self-advocacy. The bakery experience was more than just a job; it was a training ground for responsibility and independence. His dedication and growth did not go unnoticed. By the end of his internship, the bakery offered him a summer job, which he returned to for two consecutive summers. This position allowed him to refine his skills, deepen his work ethic, and build a solid resume, proving he was reliable, capable, and committe

Preparing for College

Grey worked closely with the team at Winston Transitions to sharpen his academic skills, preparing him for the college environment. He was accepted into his first-choice college with a clear path in mind: Human Services, a field he felt passionate about. Thanks to Winston Transitions, he entered college already equipped with self-regulation, resilience, communication, and organization skills. He quickly became adept at using the support available, from academic coaching to time management tools, to ensure his academic success. These skills, honed at Winston, made the difference between merely attending college and thriving there.

Career Development and Future Goals

Grey is on track to graduate in December 2025 with a degree in Human Services. He brings a strong resume that showcases several years of meaningful work experience and a proven record of success in both academic and professional settings. By learning to seek out opportunities, Grey discovered a summer position at a local organization supporting individuals with Autism, where he worked this past summer. Impressed by his dedication and talent, the organization offered him a placement for the upcoming winter break and summer. Even better, they have secured him a full-time position upon graduation. With a clear goal of making a difference in the Human Services field, Grey is entering adulthood equipped with the confidence, skills, and experiences needed to succeed.
