Trustee Biographies 2019-2020 Trustees of The Winsor School

Eman Ansari P’20, ’24 Dr. Eman Ansari is a physician at Boston Children’s Hospital and a specialist in pediatric emergency medicine. After her residency at Tufts Medical Center, she went on to complete a fellowship at Children’s and gain board certification in both pediatric pulmonology and pediatric critical care medicine. Eman also serves on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, where she has been involved in the work of the Joint Committee on the Status of Women. Elected last year to the Winsor Corporation, she has been very active in Winsor’s parent community, including working closely with the Parent Network for Diversity and serving on the P.A. Steering Committee since 2013. A native of Saudi Arabia, she earned her medical degree at King Abdulaziz University and also holds an M.P.H. from Harvard’s School of Public Health. Eman resides in Newton with her husband, Essam, and their four children, including two Winsor daughters, Leanne ’20 and Danah ’24.

John R. Barker P’21, ’23 John Barker joined Partners HealthCare in 2012 as Chief Investment Officer responsible for oversight of Partners’ portfolio of investment and pension assets. Prior to Partners, John was a managing director at Harvard Management Company (HMC) overseeing HMC’s externally managed domestic equity, foreign equity, emerging market equity, and high yield investments. John joined HMC from Wellesley College’s investment office where from 2002 through 2008 he oversaw the development of the College’s hedge fund and alternative asset portfolios. Prior to Wellesley, John was a principal at Paratus Capital, a middle market buyout firm, and he began his career as an oil and gas research analyst at Cambridge Associates. John is also a trustee of Brooks School. In addition to being a member of the Winsor Investment Committee, John is also on the Boston University and CRICO investment committees, chairs the Brooks School investment committee, and is an independent member of the Cargill/ MacMillan Family’s Waycrosse Investment Council in Wayzata, Minn. John received his M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and his A.B. from Dartmouth College. John and his wife, Julie, live in Wellesley with their two daughters: Eliza, who attended Winsor as a member of the Class of 2023, and Lydia, who attended Winsor as a member of the Class of 2021.

Elizabeth Bennett Carroll ’89 Elizabeth spent the first half of her career as an environmental policy consultant, co-founding BlueWave Strategies LLC, a Boston-based firm that she and her partners sold to TRC Solutions Inc. in 2010. Previously, she held positions at Booz-Allen & Hamilton, ERG, Brownfields Recovery Corporation, and the White House Council on Environmental Quality. After the sale of BlueWave, Elizabeth launched a second career as an educator, joining the faculty of Roxbury Latin, where she teaches environmental science, advises students, works on admissions, and manages programs related to the school’s 50-acre urban forest. She also chairs the board of Acadia Center, a leading environmental advocacy group focused on clean energy and climate change. Elizabeth holds an M.E.M. from Yale University and B.A. from the University of Virginia. She joined the Winsor Alumnae Board in 2009, one year after being named to the Winsor Corporation. Elizabeth was elected to the Winsor Board of Trustees in 2015 after having served on the board as an ex-officio member for two years in her role as president of the Alumnae Board. That same year, she co-chaired the search committee for Winsor’s current head of school, Sarah Pelmas. Elizabeth lives in Wellesley with her husband, John, and their three sons.
