MEET AUTHOR JENNIFER EGAN IN WINNETKA & NORTHFIELD ON SEPTEMBER 27 & 28

Tickets on sale beginning June 1 on our website Manhattan Beach, by Jennifer Egan We are thrilled to announce that our 2018 One Book Two Villages guest and featured speaker is Pulitzer Prize winning author Jennifer Egan.

Manhattan Beach, Egan’s World War II-era historical novel centered around the only female diver at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, has been called both moving and profound and was recently short-listed for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence in Fiction.

Jennifer Egan is the author of A Visit From the Goon Squad, The Keep, Look at Me, The Invisible Circus, and the story collection Emerald City. Her stories have been published in The New Yorker, Harper’s Magazine, GQ, Zoetrope, All-Story, and Ploughshares, and her nonfiction appears frequently in The New York Times Magazine. She lives with her husband and sons in Brooklyn. Her newest novel, Manhattan Beach, was published in October 2017 and a New York Times bestseller.

One Book Two Villages programming will begin this summer, building up to our main events: an evening with Jennifer Egan on Thursday September 27, and a luncheon and book discussion with the author the following Friday, September 28. Tickets on sale June 1.

RENOVATION UPDATE

WINNETKA LIBRARY RE-OPENING MONDAY, MARCH 5 Phase II Construction Begins We are excited to have Phase I of our renovation, the asbestos abatement, completed for the re-opening of the Winnetka Library on March 5.

Please note that Phase II of the renovation will then be in full swing. Construction will be ongoing through June 2018. We strive to make this process as easy as possible for our patrons, but inevitably the construction will cause some inconvenience. You are welcome to call or email ahead of your visit to be sure your items are ready when you arrive, (847) 446-7220 or eref@winnetkalibrary.org.

Thanks for your patience while we make improvements. We are sure you will love the finished product, and look forward to celebrating with you at the Grand Re-Opening in Summer 2018.

Online Catalog Getting a New Look During the week of April 16, our Library will transition to a new online library catalog.

You will see a new look as you search for library materials, and will be introduced to new features as we work to improve your Library experience.

New Features • When available the system will renew eligible materials automatically.

What to Expect • From April 14 through April 16, make sure to bring your library card with you to the Library. Library staff may not be able to look up your account to check out materials to you.

• Your library PIN or password will transfer over to the new system in all CAPS. For example, if your PIN is currently mypin1, it will be MYPIN1 in the new catalog.

• Your reading history and lists will not transfer over. Ask a librarian for assistance in printing your reading history and/or your lists, so that information can be preserved.
