2018 NHL DR AFT • DALL AS, TEX AS

Management KEVIN CHEVELDAYOFF EXECUTIVE VICE-PRESIDENT & GENERAL MANAGER Kevin Cheveldayoff completed his seventh season as General Manager of the Winnipeg Jets after being named to the position in June 8, 2011, eight days after the franchise relocated to Winnipeg from Atlanta, and has held the position ever since. He signed a multi-year contract extension on Sept. 7, 2017, along with Head Coach Paul Maurice. The Jets have posted a winning record in six of his seven seasons as General Manager and advanced to the Western Conference Final for the first time in franchise history this past seasom. The Jets won a franchise record 52 games during the regular season and have reached 40 wins in three of the last four seasons. Under his guidance this season, the Jets finished second overall in the NHL during the regular season with 114 points. Winnipeg is one of just 33 teams in NHL history to have at least 114 points in a season. Winnipeg has compiled a strong crop of young players under Cheveldayoff’s leadership, including 2016 second overall pick Patrik Laine, who scored 44 goals this season and was a finalist for the Calder Trophy as the league’s best rookie last season. Laine is joined by fellow first round picks Nikolaj Ehlers, Josh Morrissey, Kyle Connor and Jack Roslovic as players age 22-and-under that played on a regular basis for the Jets this season. In 2017, Winnipeg’s prospect group was one of only two teams to receive an A+ rating by The Hockey News, which also selected the Jets as having the best group of prospects in the NHL. Prior to his time in Winnipeg, Cheveldayoff spent two seasons with the Chicago Blackhawks serving in the role of Assistant General Manager/Senior Director, Hockey Operations. During Cheveldayoff’s tenure, the Blackhawks won the 2010 Stanley Cup championship. Before joining the Blackhawks in 2009, the Blaine Lake, Sask. native spent the previous 12 seasons as the General Manager of the American Hockey League’s Chicago Wolves, guiding the franchise to four league championships, which included the 2002 and 2008 AHL Calder Cup championships and 1998 and 2000 IHL Turner Cup championships. Overall, Cheveldayoff has been a part of seven league championships during his management career, which includes two Turner Cups in three seasons as the Assistant Vice-President of Hockey Operations and Assistant Coach for the Denver and Utah Grizzlies. Originally drafted by the New York Islanders with their first pick (16th overall) in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft, Cheveldayoff began his career in the AHL with the Capital District Islanders, serving as the alternate captain from 1991 to 1993. He held the same role with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles in 1993-94, earning the team’s “Unsung Hero Award” after racking up a career-high 216 penalty minutes in 73 games. Known as a defensive defenceman during his playing days, a knee injury cut his professional career short after five seasons. Cheveldayoff spent four seasons with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL where he played in 214 games and collected 81 points (12G, 69A), as well as 759 penalty minutes. Kevin and his wife, Janet, have one son, Chase, and one daughter, Lexi.

CRAIG HEISINGER SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT & DIRECTOR, HOCKEY OPS/ASSISTANT GM Craig Heisinger completed his seventh season with the Winnipeg Jets in his role as Senior Vice-President & Director, Hockey Operations/Assistant General Manager. In his role, Heisinger also serves as the General Manager of the Manitoba Moose, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets. Last July, Heisinger was honoured with the Thomas Ebright Award in recognition of career contributions to the AHL. Heisinger joined the Jets organization after working with the Manitoba Moose in different capacities throughout the team’s initial 15-year existence in both the International Hockey League and American Hockey League. Most notably, he served as Manitoba’s General Manager for nine seasons and reached the Calder Cup Playoffs in eight of those years, including a berth in the Calder Cup Final in 2009. Heisinger began his tenure with the Manitoba Moose as the team’s Equipment Manager in 1996. “Zinger” then transitioned to a managerial position when he became Assistant General Manager of the hockey club in 1999. Three years later, Heisinger was appointed General Manager of the Moose on July 15th, 2002, succeeding Randy Carlyle. Zinger retained that position until the end of the 2010-11 season. During that time, Heisinger was named the winner of the James C. Hendy Memorial Award as the outstanding executive in the American Hockey League following the team’s most successful season in 2008-09. That season, the Moose finished first overall in the AHL and reached the Calder Cup Finals. Heisinger received his start in hockey as the Equipment Manager of the Fort Garry Blues of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League during the 1978-79 season. In 1988, after his final year with the Brandon Wheat Kings, he represented Canada as the trainer for the Gold Medal winning World Junior Team in Moscow. After the championships, Heisinger joined the Winnipeg Jets as Assistant Equipment Manager. In 1990, he became the Jets’ Senior Equipment Manager and was with the team until their move to Phoenix in 1996. In 1997 he worked with the Gold Medal winning Canadian Team at the World Championships, and in 1998 he was selected as the equipment manager for the Canadian Olympic Team in Nagano, Japan. Winnipeg Jets Draft Notes Unless a trade is made, the Jets will not make a first round selection in this year’s NHL Draft. The last time the Jets franchise didn’t make a selection in the first round was 2007. The Jets have made nine first-round selections in seven drafts since relocation. The Jets enter the 2018 NHL Draft with six selections in hand. If that doesn’t change, this will be the third draft since relocation that the Jets have less than the average of seven selections. Winnipeg also selected six players in 2012 and 2016. . Of the 159 selections in franchise history, 61 have reached the NHL. Of the 52 selections since the franchise relocated to Winnipeg for the 2011-12 season, 19 have played in the NHL and 14 played junior or college hockey last season. The Jets have selected a forward in the first round each of the last four years. This after drafting defencemen Jacob Trouba (2012) and Josh Morrissey (2013) in the first round in back-to-back years. Of the 32 players that played for the Jets this season (2017-18), 14 players were drafted by the organization, including seven of the 10 first round picks made by the franchise since relocating to Winnipeg in 2011 (Scheifele, Trouba, Morrissey, Ehlers, Connor, Roslovic, and Laine). The Jets’ 10 selections in 2013 is the most by the franchise since relocating to Winnipeg in 2011. The franchise record for most selections in a draft is 14 in 2000, while the franchise record for least selections is four in 2007. Five of the six goalies the Jets have drafted since 2011 remain in the organization – Connor Hellebuyck (2012), Jamie Phillips (2012), Comrie (2013), Mikhail Berdin (2016), and Arvid Holm (2017). Winnipegger Jason Kasdorf was drafted by the Jets in 2011 but traded to the Buffalo Sabres on Feb. 11/15. Jordy Stallard and Jason Kasdorf are the only two Manitobans the Jets have selected since 2011. Garnet Exelby (1999 – Ste. Anne), Matt Suderman (2001 - Winkler), Tyler Boldt (2002 – Winnipeg), Mitch Carefoot (2004 – Dauphin), Myles Stoesz (2005 – Steinbach) and Peter Stoykewych (2010 – Winnipeg) were Manitobans selected by the Atlanta Thrashers.

GUIDE WINNIPEG JETS DRAFT

The 2016 draft marked the first time since 2011 the Jets didn’t select an American. Winnipeg selected a franchise-high four Americans in the 2015 draft and two American’s (Samberg and Evingson) in last year’s draft (2017). Sami Niku (2015) and Patrik Laine (2016) were the first two Finnish players the franchise chose since relocating to Winnipeg in 2011. Niclas Lucenius (2007) was the last Finnish player selected by the Thrashers. In last year’s draft (2017), the Jets selected two Finnish players – F Kristian Vesalainen (24th overall) and F Santeri Virtanen (105th overall). Winnipeg’s first round picks between 2014-2016 came from four different countries – Nikolaj Ehlers (Denmark), Kyle Connor (USA), Jack Roslovic (USA), Patrik Laine (Finland) and Logan Stanley (Canada). The Jets only first round pick in the 2017 draft, F Kristian Vesalainen (24th overall), is from Finland. Nelson Nogier (Saskatoon) was the only Canadian selected by the Jets in 2014. It’s the only time in franchise history that a lone Canadian was selected. The Jets selected five defensemen in 2013, which is the most in franchise history. This is the third time the NHL is holding the draft in a Central Division city since 2011. The Jets participated in their first draft in 2011 in St. Paul at Xcel Energy Center, weeks after relocating from Atlanta. The most players drafted in one year by the franchise to reach the NHL is seven, which happened in the team’s first draft back in 1999.
