Founded in 1911, the Community House is a non-profit organization offering sports / fitness, performing arts, and educational programming for all ages. This historic building features a modern fitness center, theater, gymnasium, multi-purpose spaces, and a beautiful garden. As an independent 501(c)(3), we receive no tax dollars and rely on donations, memberships, and program fees. The Community House is proud to have served generations of Winnetka and North Shore families.
Members and Non-Members from Winnetka and surrounding communities are welcome to participate in any of our classes, programs, lectures, and events.

Announcing NEW Sports Camp at the Community House for Summer 2026!
All-Star Sports Camp Highlights Each week features a theme, field trip, and sports play—ranging from basketball and soccer to Olympic-style games. Daily schedules balance active play, wellness education, rest, and fun extras like movies, trivia, and crafts. With a max of 50 campers per session, the camp ensures personal attention in a fun, energetic, and supportive environment.
All-Star Sports Camp Dates Camp runs June 15-August 7. You can sign up for the full 8-weeks or in 2-week sessions. Extended care is available from 3-5 pm for all sessions.
All-Star Sports Camp Director Led by Martin Freeman, a youth sports leader with 30+ years of coaching and teaching experience, the camp emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and mentorship.
Safety & Health Staff are CPR/AED certified. Safety includes nut-free meals (Marla’s Lunch), hydration breaks, sunscreen checks, rest periods, and strict field trip supervision. Hoops4Health Ethics Camp culture stresses respect, kindness, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
Hoops4Health was founded in 2010 in Winnetka, Illinois. The company offers youth sports programs focused on fundamentals, health, and sportsmanship. The year-round Hoops4Health programs at the Community House feature basketball clinics, skills training, school break camps, 3 on 3 league play, and more! Our programs serves boys and girls in grades K-5.

Everybody Move Inc.
This class offers a playful and enriching time for you and your child to sing and dance! The beginning of the class provides freeplay and gathering time to allow for socialization and interaction. Ballet and Fantasy Dance
Gwendolyn has been teaching ballet and Fantasy Dance classes at the Community House for over 20 years. Her students learn proper ballet technique in an encouraging atmosphere. As a performer, Gwendolyn danced for the Lynda Martha Dance Company. She is a certified teacher with the Cecchetti Council of America. Gwendolyn is a graduate of the Indiana University School of Music with a BS in Ballet Education.

A graduate of Loyola Academy, Dan is a talented multi-instrumentalist and popular teacher of piano, violin, guitar, bass guitar, banjo, mandolin, percussion, and voice at the Community House. Dan is the founder of Music ‘n’ Me and Top Note Music Academy. A firm believer that music should be fun, Dan enjoys sharing his love of music with his stu- dents. He is a graduate of USC with a degree in music.

Formed in 1974, Children’s Theatre of Winnetka (CTW) is an award-winning, volunteer organization dedicated to promoting theatrical experiences for children in grades 4-8 who reside or attend school in New Trier Township. Children, under adult supervision, learn all aspects of theatre production from stage management to performance. Students may participate both onstage or backstage in the fall and spring production each year.

About Skyline Children’s Theater
Skyline Children’s Theater is a mainstay at the Community House and is proud to teach children of all levels the fundamentals of acting. Jacqui Siegel, drama teacher, and Erica Zuhr, elementary school teacher, are the co-owners of Skyline Children’s Theater. Mrs. Siegel and Mrs. Zuhr have performed in and directed numerous plays throughout the Chicagoland area. Mrs. Siegel has worked with world-renowned casting directors in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. Werner Martin began his study of classical ballet in Berlin and continued to study and perform when he moved back to the U.S., performing with the Joffrey Ballet in their piece “Petrushka” at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles. In California, Werner also developed a passion for fitness and studied and taught at the Jane Fonda studio, appearing in Jane Fonda’s famous VHS workouts. Werner has a distinct passion for sharing the benefits of ballet with adults of any age and invites those of all ages and backgrounds to join him for a fun class!

KC Bleuher
KC is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer with specialized training in massage therapy, recovery modalities, pilates, and other group fitness formats. She uses a combination of corrective exercise, strength training, stretching and massage to customize a fitness plan for her clients. Her vision is a world where all people live pain-free, healthy, and strong. She believes in the connection between a healthy body and a positive outlook and is passionate about being a catalyst for change for her clients. KC joined the Community House training team in 2025.
Bob Davis
Bob has been assisting members of the Community House Fitness Center in reaching their fitness goals since 2001. Bob enjoys working with seniors and teens as well as those with special needs including rehabilitation. Helping those in the gym complements Bob’s career in sports media that has taken him to multiple NFL Super Bowls, and the NCAA Basketball Final Four. Bob is certified through the International Sports Science Association.
Chris Treiber
Chris has been assisting members of the Community House Fitness Center in reaching their fitness goals since 1996. His specializations are training for strength, functional movement, balance, and older adult populations. Chris is certified through the American Council on Exercise, the Functional Aging Institute (Functional Aging Specialist) and the Gray Institute (Applied Functional Science).
Edwin Ventura
Edwin is a NASM certified personal trainer as well as a USA licensed Boxing Coach. He grew up in Waukegan playing soccer for 15 years before switching to boxing for the last 6 years. He enjoys training a wide range of clients for performance, general health, and weight loss. Edwin also holds a Performance Enhancement Specialty Certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, which enables him to train athletes to reach their full conditioning potential. Edwin joined the Community House training team in 2023.

Dog Obedience Puppy
Puppy Class provides a positive environment for socialization of puppies and people alike! Early socialization has been shown to greatly reduce the incidence of both human-directed aggression and dog-ondog aggression, as well as anxiety and fear-based behavior problems. Additional topics covered are house training, mouthing, barking, and preventing behavior problems. Obedience behaviors of sit, coming when called, and walking on a leash will be introduced. This class is appropriate for puppies ages 2-4 months old. All dogs must have at least 2 rounds of vaccinations prior to class.

Puppy Obedience & Socialization
This class provides a positive and fun environment for pups and their owners. Common puppy behaviors such as nipping, house soiling, jumping, and barking will be discussed. Obedience cues including sit, down, come, stay, and leash will be covered. Puppies ages 2-4 months are welcome. Puppies must have had at least one full round of vaccinations at least 7 days prior to the start of class.
