In 1994, Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle discovered a unique Clos in the Apalta Valley sheltering 100-year-old pre-phylloxera vines. She brought generations of French tradition to the Colchagua Valley and crafted world-class wines using French winemaking expertise and the superb terroirs of Chile. Today, Charles de Bournet, the seventh generation, continues to honor the winery’s credo: French in essence, Chilean by birth.

Alain Combard arrived from Chablis in 1992: “The schist in La Londe seduced my father,” says daughter Magali, “schist and the sea make our style.” La Londe enjoys cooler temperatures than the rest of the Côtes-de-Provence thanks to the influence of the sea, and its schist soils bring an underpinning of minerality to the wines. Since their 2019 expansion into the warmer Pignans region, facing the Maures Massif, Figuiere’s Cotes-de-Provence appellated wines are 100% estate and organically grown. With the complimentary terroirs of La Londe, with its schist and maritime influence, and Pignans, with its clayey-limestone soils and continental climate, Figuiere creates wines with complex and beautiful harmonies, perfectly reflective of the terroir of Provence. Today, the Combard family continues to carry on the pioneering spirit of their father.
