Low Cost/No Cost Recreation At Oliver Parks and Recreation we don’t want to see anyone left out. To assist with being able to participate in programs there are a few financial assistance options available.
Anyone Can Join
Anyone Can Join is a sponsorship program supported by local organizations like the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #97 and the Oliver Elks to provide financial assistance to Oliver/Area “C” children, youth and adults towards registration into recreation programs of their choice, up to $150 per person per calendar year. Families or individuals in need of assistance are asked to complete and submit an application form at the Oliver Community Centre. Each form is reviewed in confidence by the Recreation Supervisor and applicants are registered directly into the program using funds provided by sponsors.
JumpStart
Who we fund is simple: Kids. Kids who want to get active. Kids who want to learn a new sport or activity. Kids who want to keep up with a sport or activity they already enjoy. But these kids just need a little extra financial help to get their name on the roster. Kids aged 4 to 18 from families in financial need can receive funding to help with registration fees, equipment and/or transportation. www.jumpstart.canadiantire.ca
Spirit of the Game The Spirit of the Game Society was established to help families in Oliver and Osoyoos. A non-profit organization with a volunteer board, the Spirit of the Game Society is structured to deliver 100% of all donations to providing league fees and covering equipment costs. It does this by working with generous partners and organizing annual funding events. www.sotgsociety.com Anyone Can Join applications are available at the Oliver Parks and Recreation Office. Spirit of the Game and Jumpstart applications are available on their respective websites.

Arena Improvement Project STORAGE
2ND FLOOR PLAN
3000 ft2
Built in 1968, the Oliver & District Arena, one of the first recreation facilities in the south DR Okanagan, is 50 years old. It has served the community well over the past 5 decades, ADMIN bringing people together through sport, recreation, and DR #1community pride.

Although the building structure itself has at least 25 years of life remaining, the brine lines and concrete slab that make up the secondary cooling system and ice surface have reached end-of-life and are prematurely failing. Concept design and cost estimate to address these concerns as well as other potential enhancements to the facility has been developed and will be on display throughout DR #2 replacement ice slab rivsed the year for stakeholders andwith the community at large to review and provide input on. Anytime you wish to trade in your credits please come to the Recreation Office and speak to staff who will be happy to assist you. OUR KIDS CANoe!
Children growing up in Oliver, BC are blessed to have access to some of Canada’s most beautiful beaches and lakes right close to home. When the summer sun shines, local kids seem to spend as much time in the water as out. Big thanks to BOATING BC for helping our kids to experience the joy of boating and to learn boat safety skills. In April 2018, BOATING BC awarded the Oliver Parks and Recreation Society $2500 to purchase four canoes. Our canoeing program and Sun Fun program participants had a great time using the canoes, and we plan to offer lots more opportunities for paddlers of all ages over the next year. Check out our fall paddling courses in this recreation guide. Thank you, Boating BC!
