Arbor Day 5K Run/Walk The Town of Windsor Tree Board will host the 10th Annual Arbor Day 5K Run/ Walk on Saturday, April 18th. The race will start and finish at Boardwalk Park and follow the Windsor Lake Trail. Proceeds will go towards planting trees throughout the community. Leashed dogs are welcome.

Pre-register at the CRC or on race day beginning at 7am. Fee includes a t-shirt (while supplies last). Awards will be given to the top runners/walkers!

Colorado Bike Month Leave the car at home and bike to work! To celebrate bicycling for transportation, fun and health, Colorado has designated June as Bike Month. While there will be many events around the state throughout the month, the highlight of the month is Bike to Work Day, when employees leave their cars at home and enjoy bicycling to work.

Breakfast Station: A breakfast station will be provided at Spokes Bike Shop, located at 427 Main Street, for anyone riding their bike to work on Wednesday, June 24th.

The station will be open from 6am-8am.

Staff from Spokes and the Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture Department will be available to offer repair/help to riders who stop by. Fresh fruit, granola bars and other healthy snacks will be provided for FREE!

Arbor Day Tree Sale Each year, the Town of Windsor offers a great selection of trees to Windsor residents at discount prices. These trees grow well in the Windsor area and are to be planted within town limits (for clarification on residency, please check your property tax statement). S.A.L.T.

Student Advisory Leadership Team

S.A.L.T. is a self-sustaining group made up of local Middle School and High School students who want to make a difference in the community. They are credited with providing over a dozen safe activities a year for teens and the community. The goal is to provide positive alternative activities that students will want to participate in. S.A.L.T. holds meetings on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 6:00pm, where new events are planned and ideas are discussed to better the community. If you are interested in learning more, contact Windsor Community Recreation Center at 970-674-3500.

Wal-Mart Shopping Trip The Wal-Mart trip is offered in conjunction with the Senior Ride Program. This trip allows Windsor Seniors, without transportation options, an opportunity to shop at the Timnath Wal-Mart. Participants must reside within the Windsor Town limits. The senior ride driver will pick up participants from their residence between 9 and 10am. Shopping hours are from 10-12noon. The bus driver will return participants to their residence between 12noon and 1pm. This trip is offered on the 3rd Friday of each month and a minimum of 4 participants is required / maximum of 10.

Buell Theatre –Wicked Platte River Canoe Trip Enjoy the wonderful wildlife right here in your own backyard while canoeing down the Platte River.The trip starts out on the St.Vrain River and ends up on the South Platte River at Two Rivers Parkway. CARA Swim Team This year-round opportunity provides an introduction to swimming that will teach life long skills of confidence and build friendships. CARA stands for Colorado Association of Recreational Athletics and focuses on recreational swimming. Must be able to swim 25 yards without stopping.

Quilting As long as you know basic sewing skills you can take this class. In this class you will complete a simple (but way cute) quilt top that is 60” x 72”. We will be using polka dot fabrics in white, bright oranges and blues. Kit includes all fabrics for the top including border, backing and binding. Fencing-Basic This class introduces the modern sport of fencing. Students will learn fundamental weapon skills with the foil, as well as the basic rules and safety requirements of the sport. Dog Training: Walk-N-Wag Walk N Wag – Walking your dog is good for you and your dog, and Walk n Wag makes it fun! With obesity afflicting 2/3 of American people, and over half of American pets, dog walking is a great way for us all to get some exercise. Designed to refresh and refine your dog’s skills and get much needed exercise, our class focuses on dog training, teaching your dog new skills, and it’s a great workout for you! All fitness levels welcome. Dogs must know the following skills, but by no means be perfect at them as this is a dog training class incorporated into walking: sit and down stay, walk on a loose leash, come when called. One dog per walker. Aggressive dogs will be referred for training before joining the group. Student Advisory Leadership Team

S.A.L.T. is a self-sustaining group made up of local Middle School and High School students who want to make a difference in the community. They are credited with providing over a dozen safe activities a year for teens and the community. The goal is to provide positive alternative activities that students will want to participate in. S.A.L.T. holds meetings on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 6:00pm, where new events are planned and ideas are discussed to better the community. Babysitter’s Boot Camp is a comprehensive skills-based class for youth 11 to 16 years old looking to get the knowledge and confidence to be great babysitters!

Topics covered include: business practices, leadership principles, discipline and communication, safe play and basic care for infants and children. Kenpo Karate Tigers Kenpo Karate emphasizes martial arts skills, integrity and individual achievement. It is strongly based in self-defense as well as traditional katas, or forms, presented in a well organized curriculum. Students also benefit from discipline, confidence, fitness, coordination and fun! The Tiger program also offers stranger awareness. Panthers are introduced to the Five Rules of Safety. Lil’ Girls Rock

Girls rule in this class! This is a more advanced class than Lil’ Girls Rock. The sport of climbing is taught from a female’s point of view. Taught by an experienced female teacher, this class focuses on advanced movements, gear selection, as well as additional climbing techniques, all in a fun and supportive way. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Little girls rock too! We introduce the sport of climbing from a girl’s point of view. White Water Rafting Take a journey to the Poudre River for a half-day, action packed rafting trip down class II and III rapids. Don’t miss the chance to brave Mag, Bob’s Hole, Doc’s Drop and other exciting rapids! Please wear a bathing suit, shorts, t-shirt and shoes that stay on your feet (no flip-flops). Don’t forget a water bottle and sunscreen. Please have lunch before you arrive at the CRC.

Windsor Wildfire Competition Cheer Team Between April 1st and May 31st the competition team will be open to new members. MANDATORY PARENT MEETING May 14, 6:30pm at the CRC. Spirit Fest is an annual cheerleading competition held on Sat, Sep 12 at Elitch Gardens in Denver. Cheerleaders will experience a fun competition, and get to spend the day at Elitch’s with their Team. Yoga Fun & Flexibility - This class introduces students to the yoga positions through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration. Emphasis will be placed on student understanding safety and stability with each position. Whether you are a beginner to yoga or more experienced, you will get a great workout out to end the week.

Beginner Yoga - For the beginning yoga student who is interested in learning basic yoga poses while experiencing improvement in your health and well being. This class is accessible to all ages and body types with an emphasis on finding comfort in the various postures with modifications and accommodations. Join us in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere.

Sports – Youth CARA Youth Tennis A grass roots program, CARA youth tennis is great for new players to the sport of tennis as well as players with more advanced skills. Players will learn at their own pace. Match play will be held on Fridays for all age groups. Matches are played in Windsor, Berthoud, Longmont & Loveland. Windsor teams practice in Windsor and have an equal mix of home and road games. Games last about 2 hours. Participants are placed into divisions according to age. A player’s weight may prohibit them from playing certain positions. This league does not have an equal playing time requirement. The league follows 11-man NFHS rules with league specific additions or changes. Teams are scheduled for 6-8 games plus end of season playoff championship. The PAYS program helps parents and youth leagues work together to provide the best possible sports experience for children. If you have previously attended the PAYS portion of the Parent Meeting, you do not need to attend again.

Concussion training starts at 6:45pm.

This training educates parents about the signs and symptoms of concussions while emphasizing the seriousness of head injuries.

If you have attended the concussion training you are not required to attend again. The sport specific portion of the meeting starts at 7:30pm, which covers season schedules, rules and more.

All major forms of credit cards are accepted as well as cash, checks, money orders or cashier checks. **Payments by check: The Town of Windsor will charge a $15 service fee for all checks not honored for any reason by the bank.

Reduced Fees

Eligible participants in our Reduced Fee Program can receive a discount off the registration fee. Applications are available at the Community Recreation Center or online at www.windsorgov.com. Please see page 26 for information.

After initial registration, a refund request is required in writing a minimum of five (5) days prior to the start of any class or program to receive a full refund unless otherwise noted. Four (4) days prior to the start date and through the first week of the session, 50% of the registration fee is refundable. No refunds or transfers will be allowed after the first week of the session unless circumstances, stated in writing, warrant consideration. Refund request forms are located at the Community Recreation Center or visit www.windsorgov.com.

Full refunds will be given if the Recreation Division cancels a class or program. Please note: minimum participation numbers must be met or programs may be cancelled. No refunds or transfers will be accepted less than two (2) days prior to the start of a program that only meets once.

The registration deadlines for each event are listed in this brochure under the event description. A “first come, first served” wait list will be maintained after the deadline date to fill any remaining event openings.

Waiting List Procedure:

Waiting lists are a source of contact and do not guarantee you will receive a call back. We will contact you only if a space becomes available.

Waiting lists for a closed class or sport provides us with a name and phone number in the event of a cancellation or if a new class is added. It does not limit you from registering for any other open class.

Minimums/Maximums:

Class sizes are limited to assure class quality and safety. Minimum participation numbers must be met or programs may be cancelled.

Team Selection:

The Parks, Recreation & Culture Department’s goal is to provide participants opportunities to form new friendships, and have a fun recreational atmosphere with teams as balanced as possible.

Special requests are not taken. Only the head coach and one assistant coach’s children are placed on teams together. Teams are randomly selected by computer or by assessments, separated by skill level, age or grade and gender if applicable.

Participants must recognize that all classes/ activities of a physical nature involve some risk and by registering for a class/activity of this nature, there is an assumption of risk by the participant. Every effort is made to ensure the safety of the participants and to provide them with first class recreational facilities, activities and parks.

In the event of a serious accident or illness, it is the policy of the Town of Windsor to: 1. Call 911 for emergency personnel for first aid.

2. Reach the parent or guardian as soon as the situation allows.

Each registration must have a waiver signed by either a parent or legal guardian.

Reduced Fee Program

The Windsor Parks, Recreation & Culture Department has a reduced fee program that offers financial assistance to both children and adults who need support in order to participate in recreation activities. Please contact the Community Recreation Center to obtain an application or you can fill one out online at www.windsorgov.com.
