A "Warm and Inclusive Culture": Celebrating Rivers Primary Academy’s Latest Ofsted

We are absolutely delighted to share the fantastic news that Rivers Primary Academy has received a highly positive Ofsted report following their inspection in March

As a family of schools, we know that navigating the new ‘School Report Card’ framework is a significant undertaking The new system represents a much higher bar for assessment, where achieving the ‘Expected Standard’ indicates that a school is delivering a high-quality education and meeting rigorous national benchmarks

The report praises the "warm and inclusive culture where every pupil is valued". It is incredibly rewarding to read that pupils "enjoy coming to school and feel welcomed and safe from the moment they arrive." In one of the most touching moments of the report, a pupil told the inspectors: "We are kind and take care of each other at this school " Inspectors also highlighted the "clear purpose and steady determination" of Headteacher Rebecca Bailey and her leadership team

Student Leaders Shape the Future at Worcester Summit

On 24th–25th June, student leaders from across our family of secondary schools came together at the University of Worcester for an inspiring residential summit focused on shaping the future of student leadership across the Trust.

Working alongside senior leadership teams from their schools and Trust leaders, students explored how greater consistency in student leadership could be achieved while celebrating the unique strengths of each school community Central to the discussions was the Trust’s new enrichment framework, built around five key areas: Arts, Sport, Life Skills, Civic Engagement, Outdoors and Learning

Throughout the summit, students reflected on current leadership opportunities within their schools and considered what a shared vision for student leadership across the Trust could look like Through workshops, discussions and collaborative activities, they explored the values that underpin effective leadership and recognised that successful leadership is not about individuals working alone, but about teams bringing together different strengths, perspectives and experiences to achieve a common goal Students examined how collective leadership can have a powerful impact across all six enrichment areas and how young people can help shape positive change within their schools and communities.

Alongside the leadership programme, students took part in a range of exciting land and water-based activities at Lakeside. These challenges promoted teamwork, resilience, communication and problem-solving, while providing opportunities to build new friendships across the Trust

The summit was attended by CEO Dawn Haywood and Personal Potential Trust Lead Steve Lanckham, who listened carefully to students’ ideas and aspirations The next phase of the project will see student leaders, school leaders and Trust colleagues working together to co-create a Trust-wide leadership framework, ensuring that student voice remains at the heart of future developments

The initiative aims to engage more students in sport and physical activity while providing opportunities to develop concentration, teamwork and confidence

This growing enthusiasm culminated in the inaugural WAT Darts Tournament 2026, bringing together students from Windsor, Cheslyn Hay, Kingswinford and Great Wyrley in pursuit of darting glory

Throughout the day, students demonstrated outstanding skill, collaboration and sportsmanship. Participants represented their schools excellently, supporting one another and displaying great respect for their opponents. An added bonus was the opportunity for students to practise their maths skills by calculating and tracking scores during matches

A special mention goes to Finn P from Kingswinford, who achieved the only 180 score of the tournament during a doubles match – the first 180 of his darts career.

Congratulations to all competitors for making the event such a success The final standings were:

1st – Windsor

2nd – Kingswinford

3rd – Cheslyn Hay

‘Empowering Students to Lead: Anti-Bullying Ambassador Training’

Empowering Students to Lead: Anti-Bullying Ambassador Training

We recently partnered with The Diana Award to deliver a fantastic Anti-Bullying Ambassador Training programme This was a brilliant opportunity for our students to take the lead in strengthening a culture of kindness and inclusion across our family of schools

At Windsor Academy Trust, our shared moral purpose is to unlock the academic and personal potential of every single child. By empowering our students with these peer-led leadership skills, we are enhancing how we keep children safe while actively supporting their personal growth We want our students to build their character and give them the chance to discover their passions and purpose

What the Training Involved:

The Diana Award Anti-Bullying Programme raises awareness of bullying behaviour and supports schools to tackle it across the UK The training has a strong peer-to-peer focus This means young people are given the skills and confidence to help stop bullying in their schools long after the programme has finished

Here is what the initial training day involved:

Bringing students together: We gathered 100 students from across our Windsor Academy Trust schools for the special training day.

Learning through action: Students took part in a series of engaging group activities and discussions

Building confidence: The young people developed the skills needed to become official Anti-Bullying Ambassadors

Planning for the future: Students left ready to kick-start their youth-led anti-bullying work back in their own classrooms

Looking Ahead:

This anti-bullying work is recognised as world-class because it is led by young people themselves After the training session, our schools continue to receive support from the dedicated AntiBullying Team at The Diana Award

Our new Anti-Bullying Ambassadors will now have the exciting opportunity to earn Social Action Badges by running exciting anti-bullying projects in their own schools We are incredibly proud of our students for stepping up as leaders to make a real difference in their communities.

National Thank a Teacher Day 2026

Earlier this month, we took a moment to reflect on the profound impact our staff have on the young people across the Windsor Academy Trust family. While we see your hard work, dedication, and care every single day, sometimes the most powerful reminder of the difference you make comes directly from the students themselves.

Take a look at the graphics below to read a few of the lovely quotes and messages our students have recently shared about the staff who support and inspire them Their words are a beautiful testament to the nurturing, safe, and exciting environments you create across our schools.

Thank you for everything you do to help our students truly thrive!

I would like to thank Mr Kennedy because he is our interim headteacher and he is very caring about the students. He always raises small problems that are necessary immediately.

At Windsor Academy Trust, we believe that schools are more than places of learning, they are anchors in their communities, driving social justice and public benefit Turbo Booster 3: Society is about delivering education for the greater public good It’s about making sure that the impact of our schools reaches beyond the school gates, supporting families, strengthening local partnerships, and helping every student understand the power they have to make a difference in the world around them

Our approach to civic leadership is intentional and embedded, aligning with the "Co-creating Brighter Futures for All strategy ” This strategic focus ensures that the collective wisdom, resources, and power of the wider educational landscape are harnessed for the benefit of all We work alongside NHS trusts, local authorities, community organisations, and businesses to tackle the challenges that matter This commitment to the system contribution ensures we are continually building a brighter future for all children in expanded learning communities

At the heart of this work is a belief in inclusion and empowerment. We want our students to feel a deep sense of belonging in their communities, and a sense of responsibility to lead and serve, becoming all and more than they ever thought they could be.

In this section, you’ll see how we’re turning that vision into reality through partnerships, purpose, and people, ensuring we are boosting civic action to empower our communities to thrive

WAT a Run 2026: Moving for Mental Health, Community,

and a Shared Purpose

The WAT community marked Mental Health Awareness week with a powerful movement of connection, community and cheer with WAT a run!

On May the 16th and 17th, more than 100 runners laced up their trainers to take on our monumental 85km route, connecting all 15 of our schools While they had to face a bit of rain along the way, the weather absolutely did not dampen their spirits The energy was electric from start to finish, perfectly highlighting how physical activity and coming together for a shared cause can incredibly boost our collective well-being

A Massive Team Effort & Incredible Community Events

Our school communities went above and beyond to support the runners Across all 15 schools, we saw PTFA fun runs, whole-school colour runs, community carnivals, and incredible local support that perfectly embodied our civic leadership strategy

Running for a Reason: The Bed & Breakfast Campaign

Every step taken and every pound dropped into a donation bucket brought us closer to our ambitious £70,000 target for the 'Bed & Breakfast' campaign

The link between physical comfort and mental well-being cannot be overstated. By working to eradicate bed poverty, we are ensuring our young people have their own bed to sleep in, easing financial anxieties for families, and guaranteeing students can get a good night's rest to arrive at school mentally and physically ready to learn.

Vital Support From Our Sponsors

We simply could not have put on an event of this magnitude without the unwavering backing of our partners. Their support covered our crucial logistics, ensuring that every penny raised went directly to the children who need it most

A massive, heartfelt thank you to our incredible headline sponsors: PLMR, CHG Meridian, SYNC, and the Edwin Group. We also want to send a very special thank you to The Sports Shop for sponsoring our fantastic official WAT a Run t-shirts and vests, making sure our runners looked unified out on the road

Goldsmith Primary Academy Partners with FoodCycle to Serve Up Free Community Meals

Every Wednesday afternoon, the canteen at Goldsmith Primary Academy transforms from a school setting into a vibrant community hub As highlighted by the Express and Star, this partnership with FoodCycle is a vital response to the cost-of-living crisis, turning surplus produce into free, nutritious, two-course vegetarian meals for local families.

The project’s growth is a direct result of the school’s Student Services Team, who have been actively promoting the initiative throughout the neighbourhood Their dedicated community outreach has had a significant impact, with the weekly sessions now regularly welcoming in excess of 30 diners during the busiest weeks

While the kitchen team works magic with surplus vegetarian food, school staff and local services collaborate to offer further support. Several local services have already joined the initiative, with more lined up for the future For instance, the local PCSOs recently attended for a "Cuppa with a Copper" session, which proved highly beneficial to both the community and the policing service

It gave residents a valuable opportunity to chat with their local officers over a warm drink in a relaxed, friendly environment, all while enjoying a healthy, free meal By blending healthy food with accessible support and proactive outreach, Goldsmith Primary is nourishing both the bodies and the spirits of Walsall residents. This weekly ritual breaks down barriers, proving that a shared table is the perfect gateway to a stronger, safer, and more connected community
