This was the year that I began to teach my daughter how to sew. The first thing she wanted to make together was a small, dear friend.

Such was the happy origin of Trixie. This fabric collection features a pair of personality rich mice at its center, and is filled with tiny prints that are sized perfectly for the mice’s matching clothes and bedding.

As is the case with many of my fabric collections, I designed Trixie with a kid’s life in mind.

I imagine these quilts and fabrics as part of sunny summer mornings, long hours of happy play, and lots of snuggling.

I hope that it brings you joy!

This collection includes a cut-and-sew panel that can be used to make two stuffed friends, Trixie and Thomas. Panel includes their clothing, quilt, and play tent. Yardage can be cut in half yard or in full yard increments. Hand sewing is highly recommended. Trixie also includes a reprint of one of Heather’s most collectible prints, “City Mice, Country Mice” offered here for the first time on quilting cotton. Trixie also features a new floral, a re-scaled version of her very popular strawberry print, and some cheery printed ginghams.

I spend my summers mostly being a mom.

We try to be outdoors as much as we can.

However, we also love a rainy day too, especially if we can spend it under a quilt with books, pets, and of course, some stuffed animals.

I wanted very much to design a quilt that Bee and I could make together on one of those rainy days.

Our Mother’s Quilt, is easy and welcomes improvisation and creative input from even the youngest sewists. It’s also designed to be tied by small hands. Bee and I chose yarn. I put each length in place with a needle and thread, Bee tied them with a square knot, then we trimmed them together.

We chose a cat and her kittens as the needle turned appliquĂŠ design, because purring kittens was the coziest thing we could imagine falling asleep next to.

Our Log Cabin design was inspired by a vintage quilt owned by one of my dearest friends and favorite quilter, Annabel Wrigley (of Little Pincushion Studio).

Her efforts to recreate the lovely balancing act between hot pinks and stormy grays is stunning.

Heidi Pridemore helped me build the pattern to look as though it’s made from scraps, even though it’s not.
