Jennifer is an artist, designer and the founder of Monaluna Design, a sustainable design studio based in Walnut Creek, CA. Her design background includes work as a toy designer for Manhattan Toy, a surface and apparel designer for Target and as a decorative accessories designer for Pottery Barn Kids before starting Monaluna, in 2010.

Over the past 15 years, Jennifer has produced dozens of organic fabric collections with the goal of enriching the marketplace with more sustainable fabric choices.

APOTHECARY

The Apothecary collection celebrates the healing power of plants and the natural world. Recently, I’ve been learning more about the medicinal properties of the plants in my own garden, as well as those growing in the wilder areas near me, and it has given me an even deeper appreciation for our environment, and for the ways that plants can heal, nourish and improve our lives. These themes have made their way into my daily sketches, and now into a collection of fabrics that I hope will inspire you as well! ~ Jennifer

My mother used to wake up and say, “What a beautiful day. I’ve never seen this one before.” And she meant it. That’s how she lived — optimistic, loving, hopeful, curious. Surprised by joy.

Always giving. Always thinking of others. Always.

Even when I was 67 and came to visit, there would be a little gift waiting for me — usually tucked under my pillow. What an enchanting way to grow up. You always felt special around her. I had hoped she would see that I named this collection for her. And truthfully, I believe she does.

She would have been so excited — just like when we introduced the Patricia Tunic, a staple in our pattern collection that so many of you remember.

When I open my phone and see her picture, I still talk to her about the day ahead. And in my heart, I hear her say: “It will be the best day ever.” This collection carries that spirit.

I hope when you sew with these prints, when you cut into the fabric, when you make something beautiful with your hands, you feel her love stitched into every inch.

Because that’s the only message she would want you to carry: You are loved. Your life has meaning. And today — is the best day ever.

Meet the Designer

Shane Drinkwater is a Tasmanian-born artist whose work explores repetition, rhythm, and organic mark-making. His practice draws on a visual language of lines, dashes, and dots to create compositions that feel both structured and expressive. His work has been exhibited widely in Australia and he is represented internationally in the USA, Canada, and Denmark.

This collection explores rhythm and movement through circles, lines, and layered marks. The designs move between energy and quiet, offering versatility for both statement pieces and subtle supporting fabrics.

Pie Lady celebrates Americana with prints that call to mind a well-loved kitchen, the gingham tablecloth dusted with flour as dough is rolled for pies to celebrate the bounty of the harvest (and maybe garner a prize ribbon)! Sweet floral curtains frame the view of the garden, sunlight streaming in on jars of freshly canned fruits and vegetables topped with calico-wrapped lids. An apple pie cooling on a vintage rack fills the room with a mouth-watering aroma. Always eager to expand my art supply collection, I explored grinding earth pigments, mixing with binders and filling tiny seashells, acorn caps and half pans with quiet colors. Studio tables slowly filled with little experiments. Later, when I pulled the fabrics for a new batik collection, the choices reflected the colors surrounding me, muted and moody. Editing was difficult and the reject pile was as eye-catching as the first pull, it begged to be used as its own separate collection. Meet my salon de refuses collection in Moody Mod Part 1, part 2 to come! My Overflow specialty batiks are what they sound like, the result of an excess of many great coordinating options to compliment Moody Mod Part 1. Hello! I’m Jacqueline de Jonge, a self-taught quilter and batik designer.

My passion for quilting began the moment I saw my first quilt, and ever since, I’ve been dedicated to creating patterns and designs that inspire quilters around the world through my batiks and BeColourful creations.

In 2015, I began working exclusively with Anthology Fabrics, and it’s been a joy to share my enthusiasm with makers of all levels. I love helping people discover their artistic talents and showing them that what may seem challenging at first can actually be much easier than it looks.

Doing what you love is truly a miracle, and I’m grateful to be part of such a creative and inspiring community. ~ JDJ
