Growing up with a creative mother and sisters, sewing, cooking, and art projects were constants in our home. When I was nine, I wanted to learn how to sew. My mom promptly sent me to the Singer sewing shop at the mall. After botching a tennis dress, I laid the foundation for my creative, self-taught style and business. That same year I took art lessons at the Toledo Museum of Art, where I learned about primary and secondary colors. The inklings of a business were planted! This led to my whimsical style of painting, stitching, drawing, and creating hand-cut wobbly designs. Throughout my life’s journey, I have come to appreciate the art of editing and simplifying my life. I am getting back to the basics of simplicity. I see objects in their simplest forms, and my style is all about reducing what I see to recognizable images. I simply strive for good design. In a busy and overwhelming world, I hope my fabrics will provide a fun and happy experience for your beautiful projects. I am always inspired by what I see around me: the cracks in the sidewalk, the way the old bricks are laid out, the colors of the tulips on a farm in the Pacific Northwest, the mountain scenery while driving through the West, and the lines on the stones on an Italian beach. ~ WWW.MIMIDESIGNSART.COM

The fabrics in the Color Lab Collection appear to be solid colors from a distance, but upon closer inspection, you will see that they have layers and depth. This makes them perfect for blending or for use as standalone prints.
