BEYOND

The entrepreneurial spirit runs strong in Windermere‘s associates and their families

REAL ESTATE

Whether it’s a sophisticated bar in the center of Bellevue, a restaurant serving Southeast Asian comfort food on Whidbey Island, a boutique hotel in the San Juans, or a duo creating world-class wines, the businesses highlighted here prove that creativity, hard work, and dedication to community lead to success in real estate and beyond.

Central Bar + Restaurant

Bellevue / 528 Bellevue Way NE

In the heart of downtown Bellevue and steps away from the Bellevue Art Museum sits a bar and restaurant at the center of its community. Owned and operated by Windermere brokers Joseph and Randi Brazen, Central Bar + Restaurant offers an upscale but welcoming dining experience. With a menu crafted to honor the Pacific Northwest and signature cocktails that are sure to please, Central’s 4,000-square-foot space makes any occasion feel like a celebration. centralbar.com

The Village Inn at Eastsound

Orcas Island / 217 Main St

Fare Market

Whidbey Island / 1675 Main Street, Freeland

When serendipity brought a chance for two culinary geniuses to join forces, they took it. Angela Muniz (who is married to Windermere broker Louis Muniz) and Michelle Dalrymple turned their love of food into Fare Market, which features a fresh take on Vietnamese and Korean dishes such as pho, banh mi, and bulgogi beef tacos. You can dine in or grab and go, but be sure to visit the retail shop for unique gifts and cookware staples.

The Village Inn is the culmination of Windermere Orcas Island office owners Mariah and John Dunning’s love of travel, respect for the nature of the place they call home, and an eye toward sustainability. This pet-friendly hotel is perfect for couples getaways as well as family vacations. Ethically sourced materials, EV charging stations, and LED lights specially created to protect wildlife and bird migration patterns blend perfectly with luxury amenities and breathtaking views of the Salish Sea. villageinn-orcasisland.com

Dossier Wine Collective

Woodinville / 15029

Woodinville-Redmond Road #300

Walla Walla / 8 West Main Street

A shared love of wine brought Windermere broker Tim Lenihan and former Seattle Seahawk Sidney Rice together to create wines that are inspired by some of the world’s most renowned producers but grown right here in Washington. From Columbia Valley-grown Bordeaux-style red blends to crisp Sauvignon Blancs made from grapes grown in the Yakima Valley, Dossier Collective’s wines are crafted to be high-end and highly drinkable. You can sample them all at their Woodinville tasting room. dossierwine.com

Getting to Vashon Island is easy: ferries to the island depart from West Seattle, Tacoma, and the Kitsap Peninsula. Leaving Vashon on the other hand . . . that’s more difficult. Spend one day here taking in the wineries, restaurants, outdoor activities, and farmers markets and you’ll wish your stay was longer.

Palouse Winery

George and Linda Kirkish bring the best of Central Washington’s grape-growing regions to their Vashon Island tasting room. Palouse Winery is named after the fertile agricultural region that covers parts of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho and produces single-varietal, single-vineyard wines that win awards year after year and helped earn the business the distinction of “Best Puget Sound Winery.” Bring a few wine-friendly snacks and enjoy bold reds, refreshing whites, or their port-style Portage. palousewinery.com

The Hardware Store Restaurant

The building that houses The Hardware Store Restaurant was built in 1890, was the first commercial building on the Island, and is on the National Registry of Historic Places. You’ll find the building maintains its original charm and welcoming feel, but the real reason to visit is the “Great Good Food.” At lunch and dinner as well as weekend brunch, you’ll find staples like burgers, crab Louie salads, and mac & cheese, as well as fancier fare including blackened Coho salmon and ribeye au poivre.

SEEK STAY

Point Robinson Lighthouse

Considered the jewel of Vashon Island, Point Robinson Lighthouse is one of its most popular destinations. Originally built on the site of the island’s first fog signal, the lighthouse was built in 1914 and renovated by the Vashon Parks District in 1997. When visiting the lighthouse, be sure to bring your camera: the views of Puget Sound and Mount Rainier are spectacular, and it’s not uncommon to see pods of orcas swimming close to shore.

 vashonparks.org/point-robinson

Keepers’ Quarters

If one day isn’t enough and you are looking to spend a night or two on Vashon Island, you’ll find a variety of places through Airbnb or VRBO. For a more unique experience, you can rent one of the two “Keepers’ Quarters” at Point Robinson Lighthouse. Quarters A sleeps up to six and has a full kitchen. Quarters B has two bedrooms and has been restored to reflect its historical condition. Both houses have cozy porches for relaxing—and perhaps spotting whales or other marine life.

JUNE – AUGUST 2025

Nothing beats summer in the Pacific Northwest. With nearly perfect weather and those extra hours of daylight, you won’t find a better place to spend days on nearby waterways, warm evenings savoring local fare, or weekend trips with friends and family. Adding one (or more) of these local events to your calendar ensures a summer you won’t forget.

June

GIG HARBOR

Maritime Gig Festival / June 7 – 8

With a theme this year of “Treasures of the Tide,” the Maritime Gig Parade kicks off a weekend of fun. The festival wraps up with the Blessing of the Fleet to pray for a good catch and to honor those lost at sea. In between, festival goers can enjoy food and crafts vendors, live entertainment, kids’ activities, and a car show.

July

MILL CREEK

Mill Creek Street Fair / July 13 – 14

Approximately 20,000 people go to the Mill Creek Street Fair each year to celebrate the community, visit neighborhood businesses’ booths, shop for handcrafted items by local artisans, hear home-grown entertainment on the Community Stage, enjoy the children’s activity area, visit the beer and wine garden, and see the car show. You won’t regret joining them!

KIRKLAND

Kirkland Uncorked / July 18 – 20

If the idea of sipping wine on a warm summer evening in stunning Marina Park wasn’t enough of a draw, what if it was for a good cause? Kirkland Uncorked raises funds for Motley Zoo Animal Rescue, which has found homes for more than 4,500 animals. Raise a glass to the pets you’re helping while enjoying a variety of vintages from Washington’s best wineries.

VASHON ISLAND

Vashon Island Strawberry Festival / July 18 – 20

There’s nothing sweeter than a summer strawberry. And there’s no sweeter way to celebrate summer than at the Vashon Island Strawberry Festival. For more than 100 years, Islanders have been gathering for strawberry-picking contests, live music, arts and craft vendors, and of course to sample treats featuring Vashon Island’s favorite berry.

SEATTLE

Bite of Seattle / July 25 – 27

Friday & Saturday 10 AM to 9 PM;

Sunday 10 AM to 8 PM

Better known as “The Bite,” Seattle’s premier food festival hosts more than 250 local food vendors sampling every kind of cuisine you can imagine. Celebrating the diversity of the Northwest’s culinary creativity, The Bite is also a great place to find beer and wine gardens, local artisans, and dozens of musical acts.

WESTPORT

Ride the Harbor / July 26, 8 AM

Ever wanted to take a scenic bike ride through Grays Harbor County’s forests, farmlands, hills, and coastline? Ride the Harbor is your chance. Challenge yourself to the 52-mile route that starts at McCleary and ends in Westport, or go a little easier with the 18- or 7.5-mile ride. Either way, you’ll enjoy the fresh air and natural beauty of the Pacific Coast.

PUYALLUP

The Taste NW / July 27 – 29

Ready to taste the best of Washington? Grab your fellow foodies and head to the Washington State fairgrounds to sample $5 bites from more than 150 food and marketplace vendors. Once you’ve had your fill, head to the carnival rides, try your hand at axe throwing, or settle in at the margarita bar.

SEATTLE

Seattle Seafair / August 1 – 3

In Seattle, Seafair is practically synonymous with summer. From the Torchlight Parade, Fleet Week ship tours, and the air show featuring the Blue Angels to hydroplane races, food and beverage booths, and live music, there is truly something for everyone at Seafair. No wonder it’s known as an unofficial holiday!

South Lake Union Block Party / August 8

If you’re looking for some free, all-ages fun, you’ll find it at the South Lake Union Block Party. A community fair, lawn games, a diverse array of food trucks, and two stages of live music from local favorites round out this day-long party. Come eat, dance, and get to know the neighborhood!

COUPEVILLE

Coupeville Arts & Crafts Festival / August 9 – 10

On the second weekend of August, more than 150 artisans from the Pacific Northwest and beyond converge on Whidbey Island for a celebration of arts and crafts. Started in 1964, the outdoor festival hosts both a juried art show and local vendors selling everything from paintings, photography, and jewelry to spirits, food, and health and beauty products.
