MukilteoMUST SEE

Though many consider it a bedroom community or merely a place to catch the ferry to Whidbey Island, Mukilteo has charm aplenty and reasons galore to make it a worthwhile destination. Let the views of Possession Sound, the iconic Mukilteo Lighthouse, or a stroll through Japanese Gulch lure you for a daytrip or a weekend getaway.

SEEK

First opened in 1906, the Mukilteo Lighthouse sits within the 14-acre Mukilteo Lighthouse Park and overlooks Possession Sound. Operated today by the Mukilteo Historical Society and listed on the National Register of Historic places, the Lighthouse offers both educational opportunities and, if you want to make the climb to the top, uninterrupted views of the Sound and the Olympic Mountains. Have a picnic in the park, tour the gift shop, or simply watch the ferry come and go. Whatever you do, don’t miss this must-see spot.

 608 Front Street, Mukilteo, WA

Snohomish County’s oldest continually operating brewery, Diamond Knot has been producing beers since 1994. At the Brewery & Alehouse, you’ll find a selection of IPAs, lagers, porters, and stouts that perfectly pair with a menu of shareables and entrees that includes fish and chips, wings, burgers, pizza, sandwiches and pasta. A well-rounded kids’ menu makes this the perfect place for a family-friendly bite after exploring the Mukilteo Lighthouse. (If beer isn’t your thing, you’ll find wine and plenty of other beverages to wet your whistle!)

 621 Front Street, Mukilteo, WA

SAVOR STAY SHOP

Looking for a deal on clothes, shoes, jewelry, purses, hats, and other apparel? Mukilteo’s best kept secret is … Best Kept Secret, a sample store that is open to the public WednesdaySaturday each week. With casual and dress fashions in both men’s and women’s styles and new shipments arriving weekly, you could completely overhaul your wardrobe in a single afternoon. And at wholesale-or-below prices, you can do it without breaking the bank.

 3616 South Road, Suite B2, Mukilteo, WA

There are a few places to rest your head if you’re staying overnight in Mukilteo, but the Silver Cloud is the only waterfront spot of the bunch. Most rooms feature panoramic water views from which you might spot a gray whale or other marine wildlife. Located next door to the Mukilteo-Clinton ferry, the hotel offers free breakfast daily, a waterfront walking and fishing pier, and and the convenience of being mere steps away from Lighthouse Park and several restaurants.
