Timeline of Your Perfect Year at Winch
So you've started at The Winchendon School... now what? There are some things that every Winch student will or should do at least once during their time here. Here's a glimpse of some essential traditions and activities that make the foundation of your perfect year at Winch.
Try out for a Winch sports team! We offer both varsity and intramural sports programs, So if you want to play in interscholastic games or just want to have fun, there's something for everyone. It's the first day of your year at Winch! Move in, meet some new people, and get registered. Tip: Be sure to check out the Wapiti Peers Student Advisors Welcome Party for games and music!

Every year, the entire school takes a trip to Mount Monadnock, a 3,165 ft mountain located in Jaffrey and Dublin, NH. Everyone in the community makes the trek to the top of the mountain and enjoys the amazing views. Fun Fact: Mount Monadnock is the 2nd most climbed mountain in the world, behind Mt. Fuji in Japan!
Every year, TWS celebrates Spirit Week during the week of Halloween! Each day has a different theme to dress up and show your school spirit! Tip: Make sure to wear your costume on Halloween!
About every month and around holidays, TWS hosts a formal dinner, mandatory for everyone in the community. They are a great opportunity to get to know your advisory group and dress up! Tip: Some notable dinners include the Thanksgiving, Winter Holiday, and Lunar New Year celebrations. One of the biggest events of the fall is the fall play production! Anyone can audition and no experience is required! This a major item on the Winch bucket list. Tip: Auditions are usually the first or second week of class so be prepared!

One thing that EVERY Winch student should do at least once is sled down the big hill outside of Ford Hall. It's a great way to destress after class or beat boredom during the weekend!
Sledding
Winter Carnival is an event that takes place during late Winter. Dorms compete against each other in games and activities, where they can win dorm points and prizes! There are also many opportunities to chill out, eat food, and just relax!
TWS offers many different weekend activities to keep you and your friends busy! Activities can be both on campus or off, and include food trucks, games hosted by dorm proctors, fun trips and many more! Tip: Reach out to the Coordinator of Weekend Activities, Mr. Harrington for more info! The annual TWS Prom is definitely something to get excited about. Get all dressed up, and have a fun night with your friends or your date that you'll always remember.
One of the most highly anticipated events of the spring is the annual musical production. This is another item that should be on your Winch bucket list. Past productions include Mamma Mia!, Little Shop of Horrors, Fiddler on the Roof, and High School Musical!
There are many different places to hang out outside! Adirondack chairs and picnic tables can be found basically anywhere on campus, the gazebo offers amazing views, and the firepit and pizza oven are used often for weekend activities and special events!

Each year, TWS hosts its annual Baccalaureate ceremony to recognize the accomplishments of the underclassmen. It is traditionally hosted at the beautiful Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge, NH. Enjoy the ceremony, get your yearbook, and enjoy the (amazing) steak and lobster dinner!
ColLAB, the last "hurrah" of the school year, is a time for you to focus on your Impact Learning class and immerse yourself for a two week period. ColLAB ends with a symposium where everyone displays their work from the past two weeks. Tip: You'll be doing the ColLAB you choose for two weeks in June so make sure you pick one you'll enjoy!
Graduation: the day we all have to say goodbye to our seniors and post-graduates. Tip: Try not to cry over your senior and PG friends leaving you.
