When you are redesigning the layout of your office, or looking to upgrade your current furniture, you maybe wondering how to maximise the space.

In fact we often hear from our customers, that choosing to go with corner desks had made a huge difference.

Corner desks offer a lot more than just an ergonomic solution. For a start, these desks can be adaptable to go in almost any office. Here’s our definitive guide to selecting a corner desk.

Tip #1 What do you want your corner desks to do?

Firstly you have to ask why you need a corner desk. They are so versatile and their uses are many, but here’s a short list of reasons why they may be a great option for you.

OK, so by understanding if you really need a corner desk is a great start. Otherwise, perhaps a simple straight desk or even a wave desk may be a better option.

Tip #2 Work out who will sit where. Ask the question who prefers a bigger work space on their desk to the right.

Then you will want a right-hand corner desk.

The very same would apply for someone who prefers a more ‘left’ dominant workspace. But somehow, there will have to be a compromise and most people are fine either way.

Tip #3 REALLY IMPORTANT: Make sure that you measure the length and width of the corner desk.

This sounds so obvious but you would be suprised how often this is over looked. You see, most corner or ergonomic desks begin with a 1400mm length. Anything smaller and you risk not being able to add any under-desk storage, such as a pedestal. (This really only applies to corner desks).

Yes, you can get a 1200mm. But this is not a standard size and so you may find it will have to be custom made. Most ergonomic and corner desks are around 1200 in width, and length sizes are 1400, 1600 and

1800mm.

So like the old proverb, “measure twice – cut once” you need to be double sure of the right space and length.
