Since we live in an area prone to humidity, we are subject to extra mold. These bacteria can trigger asthma, allergies, sinus infections, and flu. Keeping your home free from the mold is important to prevent this from spreading. To remove household mildew, use a vacuum with a brush attachment and first loosen the spores by vacuuming the area. Then use a dishwater liquid mixed with bleach and hot water then scrub the area clean.

If you notice a musty or mildew smell or the area is large, then a professional may be needed.

If the mildew is inside of the paint, then ask your local hardware store for paint that can prevent mold from growing.

Your garbage disposal, kitchen faucets, sponges, and dish towels are breeding grounds for bacteria.

If you have a metal screen on your faucet, then soak that too. You should sanitize your sponges by putting them in your dishwasher.

Then replace them once a week. Dishtowels are another germ magnet so remember to wash those after every use. These little items can help resist bacteria from growing.

Don’t forget you need to clean your vacuum on a regular basis. If you’re sweeping up pet hair, food particles, and any other germ-infested items, you can assume they’re having a party inside your sweeper. Change the bags often, if it’s a canister cleaner then take that apart and wipe it down with Clorox and let it air dry. Cleaning will keep the air in your home from becoming polluted.
