Hello Willowsford neighbors!
The Willowsford HOA Board of Directors are glad to provide an update in Stroll Willowsford on the beginning of 2025.
With winter coming to an end, we’re all looking forward to springtime! Here is some information, thoughts, and happenings from the HOA Board:
Hopefully many of you enjoyed some of the HOA events in January and February, notably the dress up Murder Mystery Dinner Theater in January and the annual Valentine’s Dinner in February. We will continue to have a full slate of events planned, so please read the Willowsford Weekly email and check our website calendars so you don’t miss out!
Later this month, Willowsford will be having our HOA Board of Directors election with open seats. All residents in good standing are eligible to run for the Board. We encourage residents to read all candidate statements and please vote in our upcoming election!
As always, please reach out to any of your resident Board or HOA team members with any ideas or concerns.
We look forward to a great year ahead!

WITH SPRING ON OUR DOORSTEP and summer just two months away, things are busy on the Farm. In two short months we’ll start our Summer CSA season, where each week we’ll send out hundreds of boxes filled with fresh produce grown right here in Willowsford. Preparing for the start of the season requires an extraordinary amount of planning, much of which starts in our greenhouse this month. Each year, we seed tens of thousands of plants in our greenhouse! Starting our plants in the greenhouse allows us to give them a head start growing in ideal conditions before they go out into the harsh outside world.
Before the Farm team even begins in the greenhouse, they spend time during the winter determining which varieties of produce to grow. This involves several steps –from checking current seed inventory, evaluating projected growing conditions for the upcoming season, and calculating the number of plants needed to meet the demand for the CSA and Farm Stand. Signing up early for the CSA is the best way to show your support for the Farm and help the Farm team ensure that they’re planting enough seeds so there is plenty of produce this summer! Each seed is different, requiring different depths and conditions for the best results. Vegetables are seeded throughout the season, and can spend
more or less time in the greenhouse depending on their germination rates and transplanting conditions. Can you believe that the Farm team seeds thousands of plants each week in the spring?
Are you interested in some hands-on volunteer experience seeding with the Farm team? Once you get going, it’s a largely meditative and relaxing process of placing a seed in each cell of the seeding flat. Seeding is an activity we like to welcome our community to participate in. It is fun for all ages, especially folks interested in learning more about where your food comes from. Check out the events page on our website to see when our next seeding session is and join us in the greenhouse!
MARCH IS HERE which means the start of Eastern Bluebird nesting season! Bluebirds are cavity nesting birds that nest each year from March through August. Unlike other cavity-nesting birds, like woodpeckers, they don’t make their own cavities for nesting, instead relying on pre-existing cavities. Us humans can provide optimal cavities for nesting by installing nest boxes! The Conservancy established our first bluebird monitoring trail in 2013 and now have bluebird monitoring trails in The Grange, The Grove, and The Grant with 29 boxes total.
BLUEBIRD NESTS?
Bird populations have been decreasing across the globe for the past 50 years. Bluebird populations in particular experienced a dramatic decrease in population size in the early 20th century, reaching a 90% population decrease at one point. Largely due to habitat loss and introduction of aggressive species that outcompeted bluebirds for their resources. However, bluebirds are one of conservation’s greatest success stories with populations recovering. Without human interaction they could have been lost forever.
Monitoring bluebird boxes allows conservationists, bird enthusiasts, and researchers to gather valuable data on nesting success and population health of bluebirds. Bluebirds are cavity nesters, however they aren’t the only ones and monitoring boxes allows us to gain insight on the predators and competitors that bluebirds are facing at their nests.
Whether you’ve got a box of your own in your yard or are interested in monitoring along our bluebird trails, bluebird monitoring is easy and just about anyone can do it. Monitoring is done once a week by opening the box, observing what you see, and documenting it. There’s quite a few different species that may choose to nest in nest boxes so monitoring requires some training to understand how to identify different species by their nests and eggs. At the end of the season all data is collated and sent out to the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and the Virginia Bluebird Society. This data helps to determine population trends for the area and can help identify predators and threats to nesting birds.
INTERESTED IN GETTING STARTED WITH MONITORING?
Reach out to us at info@WillowsfordConservancy.org! We can provide all the resources and training you need to get started. This is a great activity to do solo or as a family to get connected with nature right here in your backyard! We have homeschooling families and high school students looking for volunteer hours within our volunteer corps, so chat with your kids to see if they want to get involved.
Check out the Events page on our website for hands-on opportunities to learn about monitoring or sign up for our upcoming Build-a-Birdbox workshop.
Neighbors, meet the Stewart boys. Aedan (age 18), Brendan (age 16), and Nathan (age 14) have each achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank, through the Boy Scouts of America. Scouting is truly a global youth organization. Its objective is to foster the ideals of citizenship, ethics, and self-reliance. Only about 6% of Scouts are able to achieve the highest rank of Eagle Scout.
Aedan earned Eagle in October of 2019 at the tender age of 13. Less than 1% of Scouts who earn Eagle are able to do so by the age of 13. This puts him in a very small group even among Eagle Scouts. For his Eagle Scout project he led a group of Scouts in building and installing several American Kestrel nesting boxes and one Raptor perch around the Willowsford Farm for the Willowsford Conservancy. Take a jaunt around the farm loop trail in the Grange and you will see the nesting boxes.
The pandemic restrictions put some limitations on Scouting for a bit, but Aedan’s brothers were both actively involved in Scouting and when able they too worked tirelessly to earn the Eagle Rank. Both Brendan and Nathan were awarded the rank in April 2024. Following in his brother’s footsteps, Brendan did his Eagle Project for the Willowsford Conservancy. He led a group of Scouts in building and installing 3 monofilament recycling bins near Willow Lake in the Grove and Cedar Pond Pavilion in the Greens. These recycling bins are important because improperly discarded fishing line can result in devastating entanglements that can cause injury or death to local wildlife.
Nathan, however struck out on his own and worked closely with the Virginia Bluebird Society, South Riding Proprietary, and the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy to lead a group of Scouts and volunteers in building and installing 20 Eastern Bluebird nesting boxes around the Dulles South Multipurpose Center in South Riding. He was featured in a 2 page article in the May 2024 edition of the South Riding Magazine as well as on the cover of the Spring 2024 edition of the Habitat Herald (a publication of the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy).
While Aedan has aged out of Scouting and is pursuing his education at William and Mary, both Brendan and Nathan remain active in their Scout Troops as well as the Order of the Arrow, which is Scouting’s National Honor Society.

Gavin Clark polishes his path to success
BY RESIDENT LISA CLARK THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY HILLYARD AUTOMOTIVE
Gavin Clark, a sophomore at Independence High School, didn’t find luck with the traditional route of retail or fast food summer jobs last summer. After submitting countless applications and hearing nothing back, he decided to take matters into his own hands. Instead of waiting for a job to come his way, Gavin turned his passions for design, cars, and photography into a thriving business.
In the summer of 2024, he launched Clark Detailing, a mobile car detailing service focused on delivering highquality results right to his clients’ doorsteps. Through extensive research, countless hours spent watching detailing videos, and a solid investment in essential tools, Gavin built the foundation of a business that would quickly earn recognition in the Ashburn/Leesburg area.
With the support of his older brother Ryan, who shares a love for cars and trucks, Gavin started small but ambitious. Ryan helped him manage the workload while Gavin worked on creating a professional website (clarkdetailingva.com) and building a social media presence on Facebook and Instagram (@clarkdetailingva). His photography skills have become a crucial part of his marketing efforts, allowing him to capture every angle of the cars he works on in visually striking ways. As word of mouth spread and people took notice of the pristine results of Gavin’s detailing services, Clark Detailing began to gain traction.
The business’s early success allowed Gavin to invest further, upgrading his equipment and expanding his offerings. He now offers three levels of detailing packages
"Our family knows the high cost of repairing and maintaining your vehicle. My experience gained at a major auto dealership I know to exceed the expectation of each customer that comes through the door, whether for the first time or for a return visit. Let us care for you and your car. " - Mike Hillyard.
in addition to add-on services like waxing, engine bay degreasing, and ceramic coating. By the fall of 2024, with Ryan off to college, Gavin brought in a new business partner with similar interests and previous small business experience. Clark Detailing has completed over 85 detailing jobs to date and is steadily growing.
For Gavin, the most rewarding part of his work isn’t just the polished finish of a car, but the satisfaction of transforming a “lived-in” vehicle into something that looks brand new again. He is so appreciative of the support and glowing accolades of his clients - satisfied customers are his main priority. Beyond the work itself, Gavin is enjoying the deeper lessons of entrepreneurship -navigating everything from customer service and marketing to operations, scheduling, finance, purchasing, sub-contracting, and data analytics. He’s not just building a business but also gaining invaluable experience that will serve him for years to come. What drives him? A passion for cars, connecting with and serving his local community, and the desire to create something truly his own.
In the heart of Willowsford’s Grange, the Thomas family has spent eight years shaping their house into something more. For Arnett and Jayné Thomas, their home has been a cornerstone of family legacy, filled with countless memories, moments of growth, and achievement. “This community has been such a gift to our family,” says Jayné.
Arnett’s journey began in St. Louis, Missouri, where he discovered a love for technology that shaped his future. From childhood curiosity to earning an Electrical Engineering degree, his passion evolved into a career dedicated to innovation. “I’m fascinated by how technology can bring people and ideas together,” he reflects. Today, his work in broadband and AI connects communities and fuels economic growth.
Jayné’s story began across the Atlantic in Dundee, Scotland, and continued through southern Spain. Growing up in a military family instilled in her resilience and adaptability. These qualities led her to a career in cybersecurity, where she helps people understand, identify, and avoid cyber threats. She has found a way to protect and empower others through her work.
Their three children are the anchors of their story, each adding unique colors to the family’s tapestry. Jaadé, at 21, is a testament to perseverance. This spring, she will graduate from UC Berkeley with a degree in Economics and then begin her career in banking and finance in Boston.

“She is bold” Arnett reflects. “Watching her soar has been inspiring for us all.”
10-year-old Cici is the family’s storyteller and cheerleader. Her days are filled with creating comical social media skits and imaginative art that fill their home. “Cici reminds us of the power of laughter,” says Arnett.
Jett, their youngest at eight, brings energy and curiosity. Whether drawing characters, designing video games, building LEGO masterpieces, or playing basketball, every

moment is an adventure. Arnett says, “He definitely reminds us to ‘see the world through fresh eyes’.”
The Thomases have created a life of rewarding traditions and travel. Fridays are movie nights, Saturdays are kids’ sports activities,
and Sunday mornings are reserved for pancake breakfasts. They frequent South Florida, a place woven deep into their history as a couple and now as a family. Last summer, their love of exploration led to an unforgettable European vacation with the kids, visiting Paris, Barcelona, Monte Carlo, and Milan. For Jayné, the trip’s early stop in Spain carried special meaning. “It was incredible to share a piece of my childhood with them,” she says. From museums and monuments to aquariums and local cuisine, the
journey was as much about learning as it was about bonding as a family.
As parents, Arnett and Jayné strive to raise their children with what they call “roots and wings.” They focus on giving them a strong foundation while encouraging them to dream big and explore fearlessly. Reflecting on their life today, the Thomases describe this moment as a “season of transformation.” With Jaadé embarking on a new chapter and Cici and Jett
discovering their paths, Arnett and Jayné find joy in both the big milestones and the small, quiet moments. “We’ve faced challenges, celebrated triumphs, and through it all, we continue to build a strong legacy within this one of a kind community.” says Jayné.
Dr. Chad and Ellen Hamel are the owners of TheCoderSchool locally in Ashburn and McLean. They were the first to open the school that teaches coding, logic, and critical thinking in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The franchise originates out of Silicon Valley.
Their oldest son, Cooper, was the inspiration for opening their first location in the Goose Creek Village Shopping Plaza in 2019. “Coding helped him overcome many of the challenges that he faced from being born with hydrocephalus,” says Chad. “TheCoderSchool was our way to pay it forward as we received a tremendous amount of support in our journey with Cooper.”
In addition to their son, their own experience with technology also influenced their decision. “We have both also had extensive experience in the application of technology and medicine in our professional careers, so we understand the importance of learning how to code,” explains Chad. “We wanted to provide a high-quality coding and robotics program for children in Loudoun County.”
Although there are other coding programs in the Loudoun County area, there are a few notable benefits to enrolling at TheCoderSchool, according to Chad. “We have a low student to teacher ratio, and we are an instructor-driven
coding program that is personalized to each of our students. We can teach from beginners to college level students in many different coding languages from Scratch to Python to Java and beyond.”
Chad cautions that small class sizes are not a guarantee in other coding schools that may not have such a balanced learning focus. Chad also notes that TheCoderSchool has a substantial list of students achieving high accomplishments.
“In our five plus years, we have had many of our students accepted to special programs like the Academies of Loudoun and to many prestigious universities across the U.S. We feel our program provides high quality instruction and it is also quite fun, which is a nice combination.”
When a student enrolls in TheCoderSchool, they are left in the hands of coding instructors who not only personalize but provide impactful instruction. “Our instructors are selected by their ability and proficiency in computer science and robotics and many come from high quality Computer Science programs like UVA, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Duke, Stanford and many more,” notes Chad.
Furthermore, all of the instructors have to pass a rigorous background check as well as their professional proficiency. Chad also says they’re equipped with the tools and knowledge to instructionally succeed with students.
“Every one of our educational offerings (including our camps) are low ratio and are instructor driven so our instructors can build a program best suited for each student
versus just putting them in front of a software program,” elaborates Chad. “Our instructors can teach many different coding languages, which allows our students to grow and advance from beginner to college level computer science curriculum in one place.”
TheCoderSchool is also an educational program that benefits working parents in need of after-school care. The coding school partners with a number of elementary schools to pick up their students where they’ll then spend two or more hours learning coding, math, and other STEM in a low ratio instructor driven program. Chad says it’s very popular with limited spots available for winter and spring 2025. We’ll also be adding a unique Math N Code program in January 2025 during the regular after school program hours.
Looking ahead to Summer, the school’s “Kick N Code” and “Skate N Code” are also beloved programs. “Kick N Code is our combination summer camp with Loudoun Soccer that has been a massive success over the last five summers,” states Chad. “Parents appreciate the combination of a half day of sports with a half day of coding in an all-day camp. We also provide a similar summer camp with Ashburn Ice House, namely Skate N Code. In addition to our Sports/ Coding camps, we also provide half day and full day coding and robotics camps.”
“Every one of our educational offerings (including our camps) are low ratio and are instructor driven so our instructors can build a program best suited for each student...”

Students who choose to learn coding at TheCoderSchool have a proven pathway to attain cognitive achievements as well as acceptance to highly esteemed schools. “Our program is unique for each of our students and every story looks a little different,” shares Chad. “We have seen great social and emotional progress with one of our neurodivergent students. We have had students excel in math as a result of their coding instruction. “Additionally, we have had students accepted to Thomas Jefferson High School for Science & Technology and the Academies of Loudoun, and we have had students become Jefferson Scholars at UVA.”
For four years, TheCoderSchool has been part of the Stroll magazine community. “We enjoy connecting with so many Willowsford residents as you all do a lot of good in our community, which we value very much,” states Chad. “We also try very hard to be a good community partner through our own local initiatives.”

ONE MORNING WHEN I woke up and looked out of my window, I saw the cutest thing ever! Our neighbors got a new Golden Retriever puppy from Charlotte, North Carolina. I ran downstairs, out the front door, and across the street to greet the new member of their family. Her name is Celly, and she was a combined birthday gift for the two kids of the family - Hudson (10) and Emet (7). This Halloween, Celly cheered her family on with her adorable cheerleader costume; she even had bows and pom-poms to make the look complete.
Celly loves going on trips in the car and especially enjoys watching her big brothers play hockey. That is part of the reason her name is Celly. In hockey when you score a goal you do a celly; a short celebration! If you ever try to go on a walk with Celly without the whole family you will not be very successful because she will just sit down and wait for as long as she needs to for the entire family to come along. When Celly is inside she really enjoys laying on the vents, but outside she will travel anywhere with a happy
heart. Whether it’s at a hockey rink, a football game, the bus stop, or just about anywhere she will share all of her energy and friendliness with everyone around her. Celly will obey during her training but you better have treats to reward her. She likes family activities but mostly hockey. You will catch her sneaking a puck into her mouth and scoring a goal into the net, then doing a Celly. She has been a perfect fit for their family ever since their first family dog passed away. For the Godby family, she is just their ray of sunshine!
Hi neighbors! I’m so excited to announce the reopening of the Tuomey Law Firm, PLLC. I originally started this firm in 2013 with a focus on criminal defense and personal injury auto accidents. I also handle juvenile delinquency matters and all other criminal cases, such as DUI, Reckless Driving, Assault, and many more. I then became a prosecutor in Arlington County and worked in that role as a Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney for the past five years.
My family and I moved to Willowsford from Arlington in 2022, and we immediately struggled with the Loudon County public school system for inclusive services for our daughter Nicole, who has Down Syndrome. I noticed that many neighbors also struggled with LCPS regarding their children with disabilities, whether to obtain evaluations for a suspected disability, services once a disability is documented, an IEP or 504 if requested, or accommodations
needed to provide the required supports. These services are necessary for the school to provide our kiddos with special needs to give them the best education possible, something all parents want for their children.
While I continue to handle criminal defense and personal injury cases, I am excited to announce that I will now be working for families in the field of special education law. I am also working with a wonderful and caring advocate, Kaitlynn Fraze, who also has a son with Down Syndrome in the Loudoun County public school system. Kaitlynn has her Ph.D. in Special Education from George Mason University and her Master’s degree in Autism and Severe Intellectual Disabilities. She is a licensed Virginia teacher in the fields of ESOL, Special Education – General Curriculum, and Special Education –Adapted Curriculum. She has also taught special education in both the Arlington and Fairfax public school systems.
What can a special education lawyer or an advocate do for you? Several things! One, help you obtain the necessary data from the school to support your request for evaluations and/or services and accommodations. Two, prepare you for your meeting with the school-based team, giving you talking points and legal citations to use in your advocacy for your child. Three, give feedback and suggest goals and accommodations before meetings with the school-based team. Lastly, attend meetings with you, to be a voice in addition to yours, providing support from the legal and educational sides, as well as muchneeded moral support! If a disagreement arises with the school, I can help you file the appropriate complaint with the various agencies, including the courts. Our goal is to ensure that other families know their rights and don’t face the school system alone. It can be overwhelming to advocate for your child with an entire room full of teachers, administrators, service providers, and other school-based team members. Together we will fight for you and your child’s rights, and we will be there with you every step of the way. As a resident, I understand the needs of our community, our values, and our shared connection. Every parent wants the best for their child, and we understand that schools and parents will not always agree on what that looks like, so we are here to advocate for you. Check us out at www.tuomeylawfirm. com. Here’s to putting our children first!

The Art of Color Consultation
When it comes to interior design, color plays a pivotal role in transforming a space. Suzan Meredith, the creative force behind Meredith Interiors, has a deep passion for color consultation that influences her overall design approach. “As an interior designer, I have always been attracted to the color aspect for the elements of the room working together,” she explains. “Finding the right palette is often difficult for people and I have become an expert in helping find the right colors. The paint sheen also plays a very large part in getting it right for the project.”
Guiding clients in selecting colors that complement their space, personality, and lifestyle is a key part of Suzan’s process. “I like to see each client’s project as something they are envisioning. I want to help them achieve their goals for the room,” she says. “Guiding them in the right direction is my motivation, educating them about undertones and sheens for all the elements of the room (ceiling, walls, trims,
windows, doors) can be more than they were bargaining for, but these decisions will make the space cohesive.”
Suzan is excited about the current color trends and how they can be incorporated into designs. “Right now, we are seeing walls in a neutral color to let the art and furnishings of the room or public areas of the home stand out. Accent wall colors or kitchen islands are often another way to make those elements pop,” she notes. “We are starting to see vibrant pops of color in powder rooms, sunrooms, and bedrooms that can set the stage for that room/space that needs to have attention drawn to it. It could be whimsical, moody, calming, or your kid’s favorite color.”
Helping clients feel confident about their color choices, especially if they’re trying something bold or new, is another aspect of Suzan’s expertise. “We have talked over the phone about the spaces they are interested in working on. Paint brand is something people are usually interested in. Between

Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore brands, there are over 5,000 colors,” she explains. “I have these brand’s designer toolboxes in my car at all times. We go through the exercise of finding colors they like and go the step further of looking ‘out of the color box’ they were looking in to see if they made the right choice. I leave the client with a set of color swatches and can order them larger swatches directly from the manufacturer if they would like them. I invite my clients to live with the swatches and put them in different areas of the home at different times of the day as the sun and elevation of the home changes the color constantly.”
Suzan also addresses common misconceptions about color in design during her consultations. “A little tiny swatch from the paint store does not give you the full impact of the color, so I always recommend getting some sample paint to put on a board - always use 2 coats!” she advises. “Paint is the most inexpensive thing you can do to your home to give impact and make your home look brand new again - whether it is for resale, or you are just ready for a change. This is true for the interior as well as the exterior of your home or place of business.”
In addition to color consults, Meredith Interiors offers design services from the initial concept to the final touches. Suzan says they work closely with clients to ensure that their space functions exactly as desired and showcases their unique personality. For more information, you can reach Suzan Meredith at Meredith Interiors at 571-263-6289 or visit www.suzanmeredithdesign.com.
Connecting with the Willowsford community is something Suzan values. “I enjoy seeing articles about people and families and what they do in the Willowsford communities. I have met many people through the Stroll Willowsford events and look forward to this continued relationship,” she shares.

Have you ever heard about St. James Football Club? If you haven’t, let’s dig in!
The St. James Football Club (TSJFC) is a youth soccer club in Northern Virginia. The club offers recreational, Preacademy, and travel programs. I’ve been on the Pre-academy team for the past two years. TSJFC Pre-academy team practices 2-3 days a week and plays games on the weekends. It’s a fun team to be on, keeps you active, and fit.
TSJFC Pre-academy plays all year with 3-4 tournaments
and pro-events. This year I got to go to the DC United game and walk out with the team. We also attended the Loudoun United game. Recently TSJFC partnered with Chelsea football club which offers training and international trips. Chelsea is my dad’s favorite team, so he was excited about that. To be a great soccer player it takes a lot of time and dedication and my TSJFC coach says hard work beats talent if talent doesn’t work hard, so I try my best.

TBY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER ANNA ROSE
his year’s Junior Writer holiday party, held annually in December, was an extravaganza! There was so much to do. Dinner was a delicious meal of pizza generously donated by Willowsford-owned Badd Pizza, and the dessert was an amazing treat of a dessert bar, plus cookie decorating all donated by Willowsford resident and Junior Writer mom Mrs. Leah Macchiarolo, owner of The Inventive Baker.
All the activities were amazing! There was a “Pin the Santa hat on Mrs. Traci” game, a Junior Writer Experience Bingo (earn more chances for bingo the more involved you were during the year), A cookie decorating contest, and more. We decorated 170 ornaments to donate to Tree of Life for their Senior Stockings program and collected items like toiletries and treats to include in the stockings as well. For every activity you completed during the party, you would get a ticket. You used the tickets for the raffle prize wall, dropping your tickets with the prizes you’d most like to win. There were all sorts of prizes, like a giant baguette pillow, a shark blanket, a jellyfish lamp, games, gift cards, and more. We ended the amazing night with a White Elephant gift swap. Everyone got hot cocoa and a small goodie bag to take home that included a custom 2024 Junior Writer ornament! We hope to see you next year at our party if you are a Junior writer or planning to be one!

Before I discovered Perfect Blind in Stroll Willowsford, my windows were covered with thick, heavy patterned blinds that were not only blocking sunlight but also feeling outdated. I had been longing to make a change that would allow more natural light to flood the space, while still maintaining the privacy I needed. Additionally, I was concerned about managing heat during the hot summer months. Ultimately, I realized that to achieve the light, airy atmosphere I wanted, I would need to replace the old blinds.
As is often the case, I turned to Stroll for a local recommendation. I reached out to Perfect Blind and was promptly contacted by their team. They took the time to ask me several questions to better understand the look I was aiming for, which made me feel confident that they were truly invested in delivering exactly what I wanted. A visit was quickly scheduled to show me sample options and take measurements.
Within just a few days, I had motorized, lightfiltering shades installed. The process was seamless, with the installation team being both professional and efficient. They were respectful of my space, listened attentively to my ideas, and provided options without ever pushing me toward anything that didn’t fit my vision. The installation itself was completed in no time, and the team left the area spotless.
It’s been a year now, and I absolutely love the transformation. The simplicity of the new shades is perfect—so much more subdued compared to the busy, patterned blinds I had before. The light that pours into the room is beautiful, and the shades offer the privacy I need without sacrificing brightness. My main motivation for this change was to modernize the space and bring in more light, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.
Perfect Blind truly listened to my ideas and delivered exactly what I was looking for. They guided me through the process, offering spot-on suggestions based on my aesthetic, and provided a hassle-free installation experience. I highly recommend Perfect Blind to anyone looking to update their window treatments, and I’ll certainly be using them again for future projects. Thanks to Stroll for introducing me to such a fantastic local business!
Deborah: Willowsford is home to many government employees and contractors due to our proximity to D.C. How much do we think shifts in federal work policies could impact demand here?
Michelle: If there’s a push to end telework or require more in-office work, some buyers who moved further out for space—places like Willowsford—might reconsider. We’ve seen a strong influx of buyers looking for more home for their money while enjoying flexibility. If that changes, demand could shift closer to Arlington or Fairfax.
Deborah: Right, but on the other hand, many homeowners have low interest making them less likely to sell. This could limit inventory and help stabilize prices.
Michelle: The Office of Personnel Management even suggested that employees consider resigning, raising concerns about potential layoffs and reassignments.
Deborah: That’s created a lot of uncertainty for federal employees. Job security concerns may lead some to hold off on buying, similar to what we’ve seen in past government shutdowns. If the federal workforce contracts significantly, we might see demographic shifts as people relocate for work.
Michelle: True, but historically, D.C. remains a stable job hub, and Willowsford is high-demand neighborhood. Even if some federal jobs are lost, private sector opportunities could expand and offset some of the impact.
Deborah: Yes, and if interest rates come down, we could see increased demand from buyers who’ve been waiting on the sidelines. So far, the federal bank has signaled smaller rate cuts in 2025.
Michelle: It's a complex situation with many moving pieces. We have noticed a strong seller’s market this early Spring despite the government uncertainties. The market is always evolving, and it's difficult to predict exactly how these policies will play out in real estate.
Deborah: At the end of the day, real estate comes down to fundamentals. Willowsford offers great amenities, beautiful homes, and a strong community. Even with policy changes, demand isn’t going to disappear.
Michelle: Exactly. If anything, moments of uncertainty make expert guidance even more valuable. That’s why we track these trends closely—so our clients can make the best decisions, whether buying or selling. If you’d like to stay informed, feel free to call or text me at 703-568-7868.

YMSL Loudoun South delivers big for the community
The Young Men’s Service League (YMSL) is a non-profit national organization designed for moms and their high school teenage sons to volunteer and serve their local communities. YMSL currently represents over 27,500 members and young men in more than 172 chapters across 22 states. The Loudoun South chapter serves the following high schools: Lightridge, Freedom, Independence, John Champe, and Paul IV.
In addition to teaching leadership and life skills, the young men of YMSL participate in serving over 23 local philanthropies and an additional annual service project called the Ultimate Gift. The goal is for each YMSL chapter to find a way to give an “Ultimate Gift” back to their community. This year the Loudoun South chapter chose the Dulles South Food Pantry (DSFP) and Mobile Hope as the recipients of the Ultimate Gift efforts. The Loudoun South chapter came through in a big way and in less than two weeks, the chapter’s membership served 270 hours at Mobile Hope and 135.5 hours at DSFP for an amazing total of 405.5 hours. The hours served were spent sorting 9,705 lbs. of produce into 3,093 bags to be distributed to more than 500 local families. The young men also spent time wrapping, organizing, lifting, labeling, giving, and donating.
“I have been a member of the Loudoun South YMSL chapter for 6 years and have cherished the time the program has given me with my boys. The opportunity for my family to serve local organizations and gain leadership and life skills has been very special.”

n a chilly January morning, Willowsford Lodge provided a cozy setting for the Stroll Coffee & Connections networking breakfast hosted by My Wellness Physicians of Leesburg. This bi-monthly event brought together Willowsford residents, Stroll Willowsford sponsors, and BeLocal Loudoun County sponsors for an inspiring morning focused on building relationships, sharing insights, and exploring opportunities for collaboration.
The event kicked off with a delicious breakfast, courtesy of My Wellness Physicians, featuring a variety of breakfast sandwiches, fresh fruit, yogurt, and other tasty treats. The warm atmosphere of the Lodge was the perfect backdrop for attendees to mingle, catch up with Willowsford neighbors, and make new connections. From small business owners to Willowsford residents, conversations flowed as attendees discussed their industries, shared ideas, and discovered ways to work together.
The event’s activities, led by Stroll Willowsford publisher Traci Pasqualone, helped break the ice and encourage conversations, making it easy for everyone to interact and form new relationships. Whether through casual chats over breakfast, the excitement of the door prize giveaway, or the interactive session led by Dr. Cruz-Tolentino, the morning was filled with opportunities to meet new people and foster both personal and professional connections. Willowsford resident Angie Curry shared, “We enjoyed the gathering, and it was a pleasure meeting several of the participants. Very informative.” The positive energy in the room was a true reflection of the event’s success.
Another highlight of the event was the lively door prize giveaway, which added a fun and interactive element to the morning. Attendees who brought prizes had the opportunity to briefly introduce their businesses while offering gifts that sparked interest and conversation. Whether it was a branded item or something unique and thoughtful, the door prizes were a hit and encouraged attendees to share more about what they do and how they contribute to the local community.
These gatherings remind us of the power of faceto-face connections.BeLocal Sponsor Michael Looney of Looney’s Tile and Grout said, “I so much enjoyed the meeting and the energy of just a wonderful group of people. I can’t wait for the next meeting. You guys are GREAT!!!” The January event highlighted how shared moments can lead to new collaborations, partnerships, and opportunities that strengthen personal and professional networks. Attendees left with new business contacts, fresh ideas, and a renewed sense of community spirit.
