Hello neighbors and supporting businesses!
The Willowsford Board of Directors is excited to provide an update in Stroll Willowsford for the fall months of 2023. Here are some highlights to share:
With cooler temperatures on the way and the pools and Splash Park now closed, we hope that everyone has been enjoying all that Willowsford has to offer. School is back in session, and our younger residents are once again filling our streets and sidewalks at the beginning and end of the school days. As a reminder, please call the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department at 703-777-1021 to report any aggressive or dangerous driving, especially when the school buses are in our community.
Several of your neighbors have been working hard throughout the summer months on developing a Strategic Plan for future of Willowsford. This plan will lay the framework for the future of our community and ensure that we continue to have superb amenities and superior programming, including the enormously popular Winemaker Dinner featuring Robert Young Estate Winery which will happen later this month.
We have updated the Community Club Guidelines and Amenity Use Guidelines. We received feedback from the club administrators and worked through the Amenity Use Guidelines changes during open HOA Board meetings. If you’re involved in a club or planning to rent an amenity, please note these documents to ensure you have a great experience.
Fall is budgeting time for the HOA and Conservancy. Our Boards will meet individually and together during October and November. You are encouraged to join us! Please read the Weekly and check the Willowsfordlife Facebook page, as well as the website and calendars for all upcoming events.
As always, please reach out to any of your resident Board or HOA team members with any ideas or concerns and have a great fall!

Unique Locations to Relax and Unwind!
Discover the benefits of camping and spending time outdoors by camping under the stars at Willowsford
Pack your bags and head out beyond your backyard! This fall, discover the benefits of camping and spending time outdoors by camping under the stars at Willowsford. As we emerge from the pandemic, our community seeks ways to connect - with each other and nature. The Conservancy offers plenty of options for Willowsford residents to camp in the neighborhood with our three venues: Grant Family Campground, Hidden Meadow Campground, and the Cedar Pond Pavilion. All three present a unique opportunity to explore and engage outdoors.
Our community seeks ways to connect - with each other and nature.
A benefit of camping at an agrihood like Willowsford is the short distance from your home to the site. Additionally, with each campsite rental, you receive firewood, a grill and picnic table, access to yard games and an obstacle course to play during your stay, posts for your hammock, and a private spot in the woods.
Are you planning a group campout this year with family and friends?
The Willowsford Conservancy offers large camping sites to camp together - perfect for family reunions. When
making your reservation, let the land team know so our team can serve your group to the best ability. Release your stress as you explore the trail from your Williowsford campsite! Studies show that the outdoors and connection with nature greatly enhance your psychological health and well-being. From making s’mores and telling stories to watching a majestic sunset after a fun day out, your campsite is perfect for making those wonderful memories.
Whether you want to camp for one night or several, reservations are encouraged. Our community does follow the “pack in, pack out” rule for our sites, and you will need to plan to bring back whatever you brought to the site. We provide a trashcan for each camping site but ask that you clean up their site and dispose of trash appropriately.
If you have questions about the best venue for your special event or outing, contact our team, and we’ll happily assist; info@willowsfordconservancy.org.
The outdoors and connection with nature greatly enhance your psychological health and well-being.
BE BEAUTIFUL
Tale As Old As Time
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER GIA RAMESH THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY VILLA MONTESSORI STONE RIDGE“Beauty and the Beast” ...we have all heard of it; it’s a “tale as old as time.” In this story, an ungrateful prince finds himself trapped in a curse and that makes him into an ugly beast. Only true love can break the spell. Recently, Willard Middle School put on their version of this classic story. The play was amazing and captured the hearts of all who witnessed it.
The costumes were well-designed, bringing the characters to life. Each actor played their roles perfectly. The timing of their comedy was perfect, and the audience loved it. There was certainly a great deal of effort and dedication put into bringing this classic to life.
Overall, the play was amazing. Every actor (including some familiar faces from Willowsford!) showed talent and set the stage. This performance was amazing, and it showed how passionate the Willard Middle School community is about art.
“I was scared being on stage at first, but my friends were encouraging and helped me through it. I had a great time and I thought it was a fun experience. There were a lot of practices though so you have to be willing to make the commitment!” - Caleb Abdo, Resident and Junior Writer’
Calling all animal lovers! Today we are here with Jenny Erickson to talk about the Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy. The Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy is an organization dedicated to the education of adults and kids about animals. They have events and websites that talk about all things animal-related! Some of their crowd-pleasers include the amphibian walk, the dragonfly walk, and their reptile walks. Jenny is in a small group of staff that run and organize these walks. I met her during an amphibian walk held by the Willowsford Conservancy. She explains to people why we should protect our local wildlife through these walks. Events pop up around the Virginia area
Conservation and Caring:
Education is key at Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy!
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER HANNA STOLLE THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY LUX DENTAL CENTERoften so make sure to check out their website: https/loudounwildlife.org.
Erickson has been a part of the conservancy for 3 years. She thinks that it is a great activity to do for families and loves working there. When she isn’t at work she is either playing with her many pets or spending time outside with her family. Jenny Erickson loves to go camping to find and identify different types of animals in the area. Jenny and her husband are very committed to helping our local wildlife. In fact, they build habitats for all of their furry friends! Not only are the parents of the family wildlife lovers, so is their 21-year-old daughter. She participates in environmental activities as well. Even their pet snakes
help teach people at libraries around the area! Before we leave you today we have one final shout-out to one of Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy’s partners, VA Tech and their amazing Wildlife Program! And in the words of Jenny herself, “The more we educate people, the more they will understand and appreciate our wildlife.”

BY MARIA SMIETANA PHOTOGRAPHY BY JENNY SESSOMS PHOTOGRAPHY THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY CHANTILLY NATIONAL GOLF AND COUNTRY CLUBJohn and Sarah McCarty didn’t know it then, but they spent most of their childhoods within a mile of each other. John was born in Fairfax County, while Sarah, whose family has New England roots, moved there when she was eight. He went to Paul VI and she went to Oakton. They ended up meeting through a mutual friend years after they had both graduated from college. John went to the College of Charleston where he played baseball. Sarah is a George Mason University alumna.
The McCartys didn’t have to travel far when they moved into the Grove in January 2020. They were living in a community just down the road, and like many who relocate to Willowsford, were drawn here by all the natural features. They especially love the walking paths, Willow Lake, and the ponds.
The McCarty youngsters are Hailey (12), Olivia (9), and Brooks (7). They all love to swim and agree that the pool is their favorite thing about Willowsford.
Hailey has played softball since she was seven and has pitched for the last three seasons. She loves to read, often devouring a book in one sitting. Her latest creative pursuit is making clay-bead bracelets. She sums up her family as “active, creative, and fun!”
They especially love the walking paths, Willow Lake, and the ponds.
Olivia is a competitive gymnast and plays recreational soccer. “She is our busybody,” Sarah said. “She’d rather play outside than sit still inside any day!” Aside from being in the pool, her favorite thing to do in Willowsford is to hike on the trails. Olivia would describe her family as “kind, loving, and thoughtful.”
Brooks, who describes his family as “talented, funny, and creative,” loves Super Mario and his toy army men. He plays baseball and basketball and wants to start soccer. “He is the family comedian,” said his dad. “When we play charades, his favorite game, he makes us laugh as he’sacting out his scene.”
Macs, the family’s yellow Labrador retriever who will be turning 5 soon, is a loving and playful dog, and very laid-back for a Lab. He’s also patient at posing for pictures, which has made him the unofficial “spokespup” for Sarah’s business, Sarah McCarty Interiors, LLC.
It’s probably not a surprise that both Sarah and her brother ended up in a creative field (he’s a 3-D environment artist, drawing content for video games.) Their father, a professional impressionist painter, raised them in a colorful house. “There were always canvases of his everywhere, rooms with colored accent walls, and colorful furniture - like our big red couchwhich ended up in my first apartment,” Sarah recalled. She was also drawn to interiors
because she noticed “that many people find room planning and curating home decor overwhelming, even taxing, but I love every minute of it! There’s something about making a room come together that feels so good!”
Every summer, John’s mom, who the family calls “Salsa,” books a house and her whole family--10 kids, 8 adults, and 2 dogs—come together for a week in the Outer Banks. “We spend every day at the beach and pool and then have family dinners and play games. We look forward to it every year!”
“We take a family trip to Disney World every few years and it is always fun to experience it with the kids at their various ages/stages,” Sarah added. “One of our favorite vacations to date was to Lake Keuka last summer. We rented a house with my brother’s family on the water. We paddle-boarded, kayaked, and swam each day and hiked to a nearby waterfall. It was such a peaceful and relaxing trip. We have been itching to get back there!”
At home, the McCartys love to entertain, with “Chef Johnny” making great meals on the Blackstone. They also have family weekend movie nights, complete with M&M popcorn. “We’ve been showing the kids classics from our childhood, like The Burbs, Independence Day, Jurassic Park, The Great Outdoors, The Fugitive, etc.,” Sarah laughed.

EMPOWER YOUR BODY
Fortify Chiropractic and Sports Rehab
WRITTEN BY STROLL WILLOWSFORD STAFF WRITER LIA HOBEL PHOTOGRAPHY BY HENRY PATRICY OF ANCHOR 52Diagnosing and treating sports injuries takes knowledge and resources to prevent recurring issues. From an early age, Dr. Chris Grivas developed an interest in chiropractic and sports rehabilitation through his active lifestyle and love of sports while growing up in Northern Virginia. After graduating from Westfield High School, he went on to study health sciences at James Madison University and then chiropractic medicine in New York. He then received his Doctorate of Chiropractic and his master’s degree in clinical anatomy and physiology instruction from Northeast College of Health Sciences (formerly New York Chiropractic College). His training has given him the proper tools to understand and heal patients at Fortify Chiropractic and Sports Rehab.
“Because the body is such a complex system, it’s often difficult for patients to understand what is causing their pain or limiting their mobility,” explains Dr. Grivas. So, in addition to treating the causes of their symptoms, Fortify Chiropractic and Sports Rehab prioritizes empowering its patients with the knowledge and resources they need to prevent recurring issues.
Dr. Grivas utilizes several chiropractic treatments at Fortify. They include chiropractic manipulation, tissue mobilization, dry needling, instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, functional and ergonomic evaluations, and the Webster technique. A brief explanation of each is below:
• Chiropractic Manipulation: a technique that applies pressure to a specific area of the body.
• Soft Tissue Mobilization: a manual form of therapy that utilizes the mechanics of the body to shorten and lengthen the muscle while breaking up scar tissue and fibrous adhesions to help restore muscle mobility.
• Dry Needling: another type of targeted therapy that uses acupuncture needles to reduce pain, decrease muscle knots (also known as trigger points), and restore function to the affected area.
• Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization: a technique designed to break up the fibrous adhesions and scar tissue with the edge of a stainless-steel tool and different vectors of force.
• Functional Evaluation: an assessment of both movement and functional mechanics to detect joint or muscle deficiencies and provide recommendations to strengthen and improve mobility through rehabilitative measures.
• Ergonomic Evaluation: an analysis of the physical and environmental factors patients experience while working to promote healthy posture and prevent injury.
• Webster Technique: a specific set of prenatal protocols designed to alleviate pain in the pelvic muscles and ligaments.
Treating a patient’s primary issue is essential, but preventing it from happening in the future is just as important. Dr. Grivas explains, “ Once the original complaint has lessened in severity, patients are shown how to do stretches and exercises independently to improve strength and mobility and reduce the chances of reinjuring the affected area.”
When Dr. Grivas is not helping patients at Fortify, you can find him enjoying his free time with his wife and young son. They enjoy being outside as much as possible and cherish time spent together.
Getting to know the Willowsford community has been a delight to him and his chiropractic practice. “As a new business owner, I’m ecstatic to serve this community and its residents. I’ve already felt so welcomed after my first year of business and I hope each and every member of this community feels just as welcome to come in as a patient or just to say hi,” says Dr. Grivas.
Whether you have an appointment or are curious about treatment, Fortify Chiropractic and Sports Rehab welcomes your visit. Treat the cause of the pain and gain insight into how to prevent reoccurring injury today.

The Huke family had two things in mind when moving to the Greens in Willowsford: “We moved from Arlington to Willowsford for the tight-knit community and we picked our lot specifically for a pool,” said Lauren. Adam grew up on an island in Maine and I spent all my summers (and winters) participating on swim team and eventually life guarded as a teen. We are both huge water people! Adam and I actually met at a pool and we got married on the Chesapeake Bay. Our daughter could swim before she could walk and now both our kids, Madeline (7) and Miles (5) are both fish!
With this goal, they began crafting their dream backyard in stages. They had a specific idea of what they wanted and used a combination of ideas from various local companies. Lauren elaborated, “We built a screened-in porch with Craig Sundeck and Porches that is a 3 seasons room. Then NVBlu built the pool and hardscaping as well as the under-porch living area with an outdoor kitchen, and a nook that “houses” an infrared sauna. We had a great experience with NVBlu and using Outdoor Living Wholesale for the outdoor kitchen appliances.”
They’re especially pleased with how the exterior finishes turned out: “We love our stonework - it’s very unique and classic,” says Lauren.
We would love to feature your living space, either indoor or outdoor! Email billie.rose@strollmag.com!
With their backyard vision complete, the Hukes love living here, and Adam Huke is proud to be a Stroll sponsor as well! Now you can find Lauren, Adam and their two children Madeline and Miles outside all the time. Says Lauren, “We love our yard and the pool especially. We open it early every year and always plan on using the max amount of time the seasons allow!”
When asked for advice for someone looking to spruce up their space, Lauren replied, “don’t be afraid to think outside the box, spend your time researching materials, leverage the community for vendor recommendations, and definitely project manage the building process if you have the time and patience!”
PICKLEBALL PASSION:
A recreational activity evolves into a sport
BY RESIDENT ERIN WESTCOTTI was introduced to the world of Pickleball approximately five years ago during a visit to my sister in Naples, FL, a place renowned as the Pickleball Capital of the World. Initially, I held the misconception that Pickleball was a sport reserved for the elderly, primarily aimed at senior citizens. Naples, FL, was brimming with Pickleball courts, reinforcing this perception. However, my perspective shifted a few years later when I heard on the radio that Pickleball had risen to become the fastest-growing sport in the United States. From that point onward, the name “Pickleball” seemed to surround
me, and my interest piqued even more when I caught an episode of Vanderpump Rules depicting “younger” characters enthusiastically engaging in Pickleball.
My curiosity led me to research how to play Pickleball, prompting me to Google it. To my delight, I discovered Pickleballerz in Chantilly, a dedicated indoor facility, offering introductory classes. Seizing the opportunity, I enrolled both myself and my college-aged son, Alex, for a trio of courses: Pickleball 101, 201, and 301. My fascination with the sport ignited immediately. My initial acquisitions were specialized Pickleball shoes for safety precautions, followed by a high-quality paddle. Pickleballerz graciously allowed paddle demos, a service I gladly availed. I practiced diligently, attending the “Your First Game” class multiple times before mustering the confidence to join open play sessions at the 2.0/2.5 level. Surprisingly, I quickly excelled within this bracket, subsequently advancing to the 3.0 tier. However, my progress was temporarily hampered by a bout of tennis elbow, sidelining me for nearly two months. Undeterred, I rebounded and reached the 3.5 level by April.
April marked my inaugural tournament participation at the Upshot Tournament in Fredericksburg, competing in the mixed doubles event at the 3.0 level. Although my partner and I didn’t emerge victorious, the experience was invaluable. In June, I ventured into the realm of singles events, triumphing with a gold medal at the Seniors MidAtlantic tournament in the 3.0 category. Additionally, my mixed doubles partner and I secured a bronze medal
in the 3.5 mixed doubles event. Along the way, I seized the chance to attend pickleball clinics led by renowned professionals including Suzanne Barr, Catherine Parenteau, and Athena Trouillot. Moreover, I relished the opportunity in May to witness Pickleball Pros Ben Johns, Anna Bright, and Brooke Buckner face off against formidable Arlington Iron Paddle 5.0+ male players at the Belle Haven Country Club.
Pickleball, as the experts assert, boasts an accessible learning curve yet presents a formidable challenge in mastering its intricacies, thereby contributing to its undeniable allure. This amalgamation of tennis and ping pong involves the use of a perforated plastic ball and a paddle, akin to a heavier version of a whiffle ball. The sport’s distinctive appeal lies in its suitability for all age groups and skill levels. The simplicity of the rules renders it an ideal introductory sport, while its potential for becoming a fast-paced and competitive endeavor escalates as proficiency advances. Drawing from my soccer background, my adept footwork proved beneficial in Pickleball. Notably, the transformation of neighborhood tennis courts into pickleball courts has emerged as a compelling selling point, a trend I would enthusiastically welcome in Willowsford.

FUN FACT:
Pickleball has been around 58 years. Three dads in Seattle with children who were bored with their summertime activities invented the game in 1965. They played with handmade equipment and simple rules. As of 2020, Pickleball has 4.2 million players in the US. The sport was named after one of their dogs, a cocker spaniel named Pickles because he had a habit of chasing and running off with the ball during the early days of the game.

Bobbio Family Dental celebrates grand opening!
In early June, Willowsford resident and Stroll Willowsford sponsor Dr. Jenni
Bobbio celebrated the grand opening of Bobbio Family Dental in Schooler Plaza in Brambleton with a fun and entertaining Open House. Says Dr. Bobbio, “ It was a great success! We invited all of our patients, colleagues, family and friends. We had Kona Ice, wine tasting from Ahso, custom cookies and cupcakes, raffle prizes, swag and food and drinks for all. We had a blast!”
Many Willowsford residents were in attendance and were delighted by the thoughtful details put into the event. Willowsford resident Jessica Marquez said, “We are so excited to have Bobbio Family Dental right down the street from us! The open house was a blast- the kids enjoyed Kona ice, a moon bounce, face painting and customized cupcakes and cookies!
The space is gorgeous - modern and filled with state-of-the-art dental equipment. Dr. Bobbio is warm, caring and looks out for our best interest when it comes to all our dental needs!”
Resident Kerri Osborne believes in a healthy lifestyle to help her feel good and be active with her kids. Her workout routine includes neighborhood workout challenges, activities with kids, and visits to Burn Boot Camp. When asked how she finds time to make healthy choices while taking care of her family, she says, “Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. I just try my best to hold myself accountable.”
She believes dental care is an important part of a healthy lifestyle mindset: “It is very important for us to keep up on our dental care so we can avoid any unforeseen problems. We love going to Dr. Bobbio. She makes us feel at ease while getting our teeth cleaned and checked!”

LURAY CAVERNS:
Exploring nature’s underground wonderland!
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER GABY REDDEN THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY FORTIFY CHIROPRACTIC AND SPORTS REHABHave you ever been more than 100 feet underground? Well, I have! This summer me and my family took a trip to Luray Caverns to explore the cave’s magnificent stalactites, and we very quickly found what we were looking for. This amazing cave took millions of years to form! It can take as many as 300 years to form just a quarter of an inch on a stalactite. This process takes so long because stalactites are formed by water. When water drips deep underground it forms amazing caves just like this one.
Even though these caves are thrilling there is still way more to explore, like the garden maze where you have to find four hidden words in order to escape. There’s also a museum where you can learn about life in the Shenandoah Valley from the 1600s through the 1900s. There is also a car museum where you can see historic cars and wagons from the1600s-1900s. My favorite part (other than the caves) was gem mining. Gem mining is where you get a bag of gems but they are covered in sand so you have to wash them off in a sluice to see what you got. You can find anything from geodes, to rose quartz, to amethyst!
Luray Caverns is an amazing place for a wonderful family day trip that you won’t forget!
Mom’s Night Out at Chantilly National
A giveaway makes way for a well-deserved break!
BY RESIDENT TIFFANY DITZEL THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY NALINI + CO.Back in October, I entered a quick and easy contest on Instagram through our wonderful neighborhood magazine Stroll Willowsford. The winner was awarded a happy hour at Chantilly National Golf Club for themselves and up to 15 friends (originally marketed as 8 couples, but getting babysitters proved to be difficult for all, so a Ladies’ night was a great option for us!) I was so excited to win a free night out with girlfriends. Between the holidays, sports, work, travel and flus, It took about 5 months to pick a day during the week between 5:30-7:30 that most of us could make work!
Finally, the stars aligned and the magical day came! Sanjay and the staff at CNGC were so accommodating throughout the process. They worked with me to select a few new dates as needed, they had great appetizer options to pick from and cold drinks when we arrived. The room they had us in was huge, with plenty of seating along with a scenic balcony that was perfect for a warm spring night at the end of March! Everyone had a great time!
LUCAS’ CYCLING ACADEMY
Helping neighbors put wheels of confidence in motion!
BY RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER LUCAS VOOYS HILLYARD AUTOMOTIVEIt is a great skill to know how to ride a bike. You can build confidence when going fast or learning tricks. You can build fitness when going on a long and difficult ride. But, I think the best part of knowing how to ride a bike is the places you can discover and explore. That’s why I founded Lucas’ Cycling Academy.
I will teach you how to ride your bike, how to steer, stop, and be safe while riding. Being safe is the main priority once you learn to ride. I know what you might be thinking, does this guy even know how to teach someone how to bike? Well, I asked some resident clients about what their thoughts were about Lucas’ Cycling Academy. Here’s what they had to say:
FROM KATELYN MURRAY:
What did you enjoy about Lucas’ Cycling Academy?
“What I liked about Lucas Cycling Academy is Lucas is great at teaching young kids how to ride a bike and he is a good person. “
What made you want to learn to ride?
“I wanted to learn how to ride a bike because I wanted to ride as a family and get off my training wheels
How often do you ride your bike now that you know how?
“I ride my bike every other day and I love it.” (The only days I can’t ride is when I have cheer practice)
What’s the best part of riding a bike?
“The best part about learning how to ride a bike is that I can do new things without training wheels”
Do you have any advice for people who want to learn?
“The advice I would give to new riders is to be focused and don’t look down. Lucas taught me that.”
FROM JENNIFER MURRAY, PARENT
What was the part of seeing your child riding a bike?
“The best part about seeing Katelyn ride a bike was how determined and happy she was once she could ride without assistance. And as happy as Katelyn was to ride a bike, Lucas was just as happy for her to master this new skill. Both of them were smiling from ear to ear.”
Why did you choose Lucas’ Cycling Academy?
“We chose Lucas Cycling Academy as we knew he had a talent of teaching new riders how to not only ride but the confidence and safety techniques that goes along with bike riding”.
What did you like about Lucas’ Cycling Academy?
“What we loved about Lucas cycling Academy is that he was patient, challenged with care, gave Katelyn Bike homework and followed back up numerous times on Katelyn’s progression.”

- Mike Hillyard.FC VIRGINIA A National Leader for Club Soccer
WRITTEN BY STROLL WILLOWSFORD STAFF WRITER LIA HOBELSoccer is the most popular sport in the world and the perfect choice for Northern Virginia families to train and play the beloved game. Whether you’re looking for opportunities for players to develop their skills or advance their soccer careers, FC Virginia is your fullservice soccer club to take your player to the next level.
“We provide different competitive tiers of soccer from recreational soccer to pre-travel and into our travel soccer programs,” shares Adam Baumgardner, the assistant director of soccer at FC Virginia. “Additionally, we offer seasonal camps and clinics as well as position-specific training like goalkeepers and strikers.”
FC also offers one of the largest futsal programs in the DMV area. This football-based game is typically played on a hard court with a ball smaller than a soccer one and indoors. This is helpful supplemental training to regular soccer schedules or as a game of its own.
Baumgardner describes FC Virginia as having a unique approach to managing the club soccer program. “We are constantly looking for ways to make the game as accessible as possible while providing unparalleled member services to not only our players but our
volunteers and families as a whole,” he shares. “Our goal is to make our members’ lives as easy as possible by providing high levels of customer service and support both on and off the field.”
There are a few ways that FC Virginia delivers on this promise. The soccer program utilizes schedule and communication systems that help keep everyone connected and clear of the commitments of the program. Additionally, the club offers site coordinators which provide coaching and operational support and a direct point of contact to club members to ensure they’re having a great experience, explains Baumgardner. “Our site coordinators are of massive importance to us, and we are one of the only clubs to provide this on-field support.”
This is just one of the advantages when one signs up to be a part of the FC Virginia family. Also helping the club stand out from other youth soccer programs is its commitment to three core principles: affordability,
accessibility, and inclusivity.
Baumgardner says FC Virginia offers some of the highest-value programming at a significantly lower cost than most competing clubs. It’s also very accessible with 8 different locations where families can train and play soccer throughout Loudoun and Fairfax counties he further explains. “Of those eight sites, five of them also provide pre-travel and travel soccer programming,” he says. “This helps our members spend less time traveling for high-level soccer that is readily available close to home.”
In addition to minimizing travel time, FC Virginia is adamant on being inclusive to its club members and potential players. Financial aid and scholarship opportunities are available to all players in addition to lower costs than neighboring leagues. This includes discounts for households with multiple children as well. “Grassroots soccer shouldn’t be so expensive that players don’t have access to the game,” says Baumgardner.
Get to know the Director of Soccer: ADAM BAUMGARDNER
Baumgardner is a Loudoun native who grew up in Leesburg before moving to Purcellville and graduating from Loudoun Valley High School. He attended Davis & Elkins College (NCAA DII) on a soccer scholarship which is where his coaching career also began.
“I have been fortunate to have coached for over 20 years now at varying levels of the game including college, private, and public high school as well as the club game. I’ve also had the opportunity to work internationally and will be coaching a USA Showcase team at a tournament in Iceland this summer,” he shares.
Currently, Baumgardner lives in Lovettsville with his wife Liz who is a labor and delivery nurse. Together they have two dogs, Tyson and Rosie, and a cat named Simon. Outside of coaching soccer, he enjoys watching soccer and is an avid golfer.
Through coaching, Baumgardner has had the privilege of getting to know many Willowsford families. “Willowsford is an amazing community with fantastic people. I love the camaraderie of the community and the events and program opportunities that it presents its residents (including the FC Virginia Recreational Soccer League that we get to partner with Willowsford on for its residents),” he exclaims. “We are very excited to share our programs our coaches and staff and the game of soccer with all of the wonderful Willowsford families.”

Guests spread out their picnic blankets on the viewing lawn near the Pavillion and enjoyed an exclusive preview of the menu for Bluewater Cocina, a new restaurant opened recently in Middleburg by Bluewater
Kitchen, a premier catering company providing farm-fresh culinary experiences. Everyone loved the fresh salsa bar, gourmet tacos, and signature margaritas!
It is customary for Twilight Polo nights to have a theme, and Willowsford neighbors made sure to participate in that evening’s theme of “Disney Plus.” Stroll Willowsford Sponsor Jen Travis

What’s her favorite food?
Her favorite food is turkey! She goes bananas on Thanksgiving!
Now tell us about Duncan!
Duncan is an 8 year-old buff Cocker Spaniel, whom we adopted at 4 months old from a breeder in Georgia so Delilah would have a playmate. We fell in love with him on Facebook cause he was such a cute puppy! Duncan is as sweet as they come, but he’s not the brightest bulb in the fixture. He LOVES to play ball and will fetch until he drops. He is the most affectionate and loving boy! He’s Delilah’s lookout at the door for who to bark at, and he taught her to howl. He is our self-appointed Bunny Patrol Officer. He’s funny and goofy and just adorable. He makes us crazy with some of his antics, but we love him to pieces cause he’s such a darling!
Does he have a favorite food?
Duncan has many favorite foods. There really isn’t anything he won’t eat. He pretty much eats anything he finds on the floor; food, tissues, Barbie dolls, whatever!
Now you’ve met the friendly Liesemer dogs. Stay tuned till next time to learn the cool story behind their collection of fluffy cats!
