A SEASON OF CELEBRATION AND RENEWAL

Embracing the festive spirit and new possibilities of December.

“What a wonderful world it would be if we could bring back the spirit of the holiday season, all year long.” — UNKNOWN

Hello, Willowsford Community Residents,

December is a time of bustling energy, filled with festive events, holiday gatherings, and cherished traditions. It’s a month where our calendars may be full, but so are our hearts, as we come together with family, friends, and neighbors to celebrate the season. Amidst all the activity, there are also those special moments where we pause to reflect and recharge, finding renewal in the warmth and joy of the holidays.

As we close out the year, December invites us to reset— letting go of the old and making space for new hopes and dreams. Whether you’re sharing these busy days with loved ones or finding time for yourself, the magic of the season is in the balance between celebration and self-care.

Looking ahead, the excitement of a new year is just around the corner, reminding us of the endless possibilities that await. While we may celebrate in different ways, this festive season unites us all, inspiring connection, gratitude, and a shared sense of community.

Of course, none of this would be possible without the continued support of our amazing Stroll Willowsford sponsors. Their commitment allows us to bring you the stories and connections that make this community feel like home. As you enjoy the season, please consider supporting these local businesses that help make this magazine a reality.

From all of us at Stroll Willowsford , thank you for being part of our community. Your stories, energy, and support mean the world to us. Here’s to a December filled with joy, love, and renewal—and to a new year brimming with possibilities.

back at my family photos from the past five years, I’m reminded of how quickly time flies. As the kids grow older and start their own lives, it’s even more important to savor every moment of joy and togetherness.

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season, Best, Traci

A Note from Tenant House

AS WE APPROACH THE end of the year and reflect on all we’ve accomplished as a community, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued engagement and support. December brings a season of warmth, connection, and celebration, and it’s a wonderful time to appreciate the sense of unity we’ve fostered throughout the year. I look forward to seeing many of you at the events during this festive season.

As we approach winter, snow and ice are a focus for the staff. There are multiple responsible parties for snow removal in Willowsford including VDOT, the HOA, residents, and the Developer. Please visit the snow removal page of WillowsfordLife.com for the current street responsibility list and FAQs so you know what to expect and when. On the bright side, winter weather means fun at the sledding hills near The Lodge. Send us your sledding and winter fun pictures to the HOA and Stroll at HOA@willowsford.com.

As the year draws to a close, your HOA Team is planning another year full of fun and engaging programming. The Board and team will continue to work hard maintaining the high standard Willowsford is known for. In 2025, the Board intends to pursue implementation of the Strategic Plan; please stay abreast through attending Board meetings and reviewing communications such as the Willowsford Weekly email.

Lastly, you will soon receive the 2025 Budget Summary via email, if you haven’t already. This information, as well as our calendar of upcoming events, activities, and meetings can also be viewed online at WillowsfordLife.com. The Board and HOA Team worked diligently to maintain the current service level while being financially judicious. If you have questions about the approved HOA budget, please contact us at HOA@ Willowsford.com. On behalf of the HOA Team, we wish you and your family health and happiness in the new year!

HARVEST HAPPENINGS:

Bidding farewell to the season with farm fresh finds and family fun!

The final farm stand of the year, known as the Harvest Market, brought a wonderful close to the season at Willowsford Conservancy. The event showcased an impressive variety of fresh, locally grown fruits, vegetables, and other market goodies, delighting attendees with high-quality produce and artisanal finds. Alongside the usual bounty, the market featured a bustling array of maker booths by Conservancy partners and Willowsford neighbors, offering handmade items, including custom cutting boards, bouquets, jewelry, and more!

Refreshments were plentiful, with a mix of tasty samples, food truck bites, and a custom lemonade stand adding to the community spirit. Families especially enjoyed the petting zoo and complimentary wagon rides, which provided endless entertainment for the kids, along with plenty of open space for them to run and play. The event attracted a large, enthusiastic crowd from the neighborhood and the surrounding community!

With the end of this season’s markets, the Willowsford Conservancy invites residents to participate in the winter CSA and stop by the Boat House on select Thursdays (12/5, 12/19, 1/9, and 1/23) through the winter for mini farm stand offerings. We’re already looking forward to another season of community gatherings and fresh, local produce next year!

HONORING

Prathyusha Namburi

RESIDENT AND JUNIOR WRITER PAREEN SANDHU

THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY THE VIRGINIA INSTITUTE FOR SURGICAL ARTS

You know, I feel incredibly fortunate to have someone truly extraordinary like Prathyusha Namburi in our neighborhood. Pratyusha goes above and beyond for everyone, consistently striving to enhance the quality of life for all of us. An example of her thoughtfulness that truly stands out is her weekly gesture of setting out her coolers for the fresh milk delivery and making sure everybody gets their share. This seemingly small act speaks volumes about her selflessness and consideration for others.

It’s not just about the milk; it goes beyond that. Prathyusha’s compassionate character is always evident as she is always willing to extend a helping hand. Her willingness to help others is always apparent, and it truly sets her apart. Prathyusha’s caring nature truly makes her an exceptional role model to look up to, and her actions remind us all of the importance of compassion and generosity in our daily lives.

Do you know somebody who consistently puts others before themselves and supports others in need, whether large or small, but often flies under the radar? To nominate a fellow neighbor for this honor, send an email to billie.rose@strollmag.com.

In the grand scheme of things, having Prathyusha as part of our neighborhood is nothing short of amazing. Her weekly milk deliveries are just one example of the countless ways she enriches our lives. Witnessing her countless acts of kindness and thoughtfulness is truly inspiring. We are incredibly fortunate to have her among us, and she certainly deserves all the recognition and appreciation in the world. Truly, she sets a great example for creating a more caring and supportive environment for all of us.

HERE ARE QUOTES FROM SOME NEIGHBORS WHO FEEL THE SAME WAY:

“I’m always forgetting to pick up my milk from her place. She always drops by my house and sometimes I go to collect 2 or 3 days after. And also she always highlighted elementary school activities and she sent reminder messages to me. She has a very helping nature and she always keeps a smile on her face all the time.”

—SUMATHI RAJENDRAN, RESIDENT

“Prathyusha is a kind and generous soul. She always has a smile on her face.” —KIM SPITZ, RESIDENT

“Prathyusha is always helpful and caring. She never fails to remind us to pick up our milk, and when we forget, she kindly stores it in her fridge until we can get it. Also, she always lends a hand as a neighbor whenever we need help.”

One person was especially appreciative - “Prathyusha is a great neighbor, friend and one of the most genuine person, I’ve ever met. I am always amazed by her willingness to help others. She has personally helped me during my recovery after surgery, as a very strong emotional support. She has always had kind words of encouragement for me and was constantly checking in on me. She has also been supportive in fundraising efforts to help those in need in the community including the most recent one she has started for helping the victims of the hurricane in North Carolina.”

From the moment a dental patient walks through the doors at Bloō Dental located in Brambleton Town Center, they’ll immediately feel at ease. “We want patients to feel relaxed and valued,” shares Dr. Haress Rahim. Bloō Dental accomplishes this by offering a modern, clean office design, as well as having an office team that’s friendly and compassionate. To reduce anxiety, they offer a soothing environment and cutting-edge treatments that are efficient and minimally invasive. Clear communication to make the patient feel heard and understood is also routine. “It’s about creating a partnership in oral health, where patients feel comfortable asking questions and confident in the care they receive,” Dr. Rahim further explains.

“We carefully evaluate new technologies to ensure they offer real benefits to our patients, improving comfort, precision, and outcomes. From digital X-rays to 3D imaging, we ensure that these innovations are seamlessly integrated into the care we provide, enhancing both the patient experience and clinical results.”

Dental patients can anticipate a comprehensive, patient-centered approach that goes beyond basic dental care. “Our state-of-the-art technology, combined with our commitment to education and prevention, ensures that our patients receive the most advanced care possible.” The office stays up to date with the latest technology and nonevasive treatments and delivers care with the highest level of professionalism. “Our modern technologically advanced approach ensures top-quality results, while our commitment to patient comfort and communication fosters long-term relationships based on trust.”

At Bloō Dental, continuous learning and staying at the forefront of dental advancements are top priorities. The team regularly attends training and continuing education courses to remain updated on the latest techniques and tools in the industry.

This office mentality has produced a number of success stories. One patient’s story, in particular, stands out to Dr. Rahim. A patient came to the office after being told elsewhere that extensive tooth extractions were their only option.

“The patient was understandably anxious and wanted to explore alternatives. After a thorough examination and consultation, we developed a less invasive treatment plan that focused on saving as many natural teeth as possible through a combination of periodontal therapy and restorative treatments. The patient not only kept most of their teeth but also saw a dramatic improvement in their oral health.”

In addition to delivering rewarding experiences inside the walls of Bloō Dental, the office also gives back to the community. Bloō Dental actively participates in local events, sponsors community programs, and offers free dental care days for those in need. The office also works closely with local schools and organizations to promote oral health education, especially for children. “This engagement not only helps us connect with our neighbors but also builds trust and strengthens our bond with the community. It’s gratifying to see how these efforts have made a positive impact—whether it’s through providing care to underserved populations or

simply making our neighbors feel like they’re part of the Bloō Dental family.”

Dr. Rahim is a Willowsford neighbor and is happy to be a part of the Stroll community. “It’s a wonderful feeling to know that I live in Willowsford, and I see so many families as patients of mine. Stroll is such a nice publication because it allows us to stay connected with the community that we live in and find out about so many activities.”

If you’re looking to find a dental practice where you feel cared for both as a patient and as a person, Bloō Dental is exactly the perfect blend.

Workspace Wonder

AFTER YEARS OF DREAMING, my home office has finally transformed into the professional, organized oasis I envisioned! I wanted a space that felt clean and polished, with plenty of storage to keep my Arbonne work materials, gifts, and samples neatly tucked away. Kristen Bridger Interiors brought my vision to life with a layout that blends elegance and functionality, complete with soft-close cabinets and deep drawers for all my essentials. Kristen’s attention to detail, professionalism, and responsiveness made the entire process a breeze, while Luis Escalante’s expert woodwork provided the beautiful cabinetry that ties it all together.

To capture this transformation, photographer Aarika Anderson helped showcase the space perfectly. Working with fellow Willowsford moms—talented, local business owners and supporting one another’s businesses has been such a rewarding experience. I couldn’t be happier with the result and highly recommend Kristen to anyone seeking a thoughtfully designed workspace!

Brambleton Middle School is thrilled to announce the appointment of Robert Marple as its new principal. With nearly three decades of experience in the field of education, Mr. Marple brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and a diverse skill set to his new role.

Throughout his career, he has held various positions across multiple schools, serving as a dean at Farmwell Station, a high school basketball coach at Loudoun County High School, and an Advanced Placement teacher at both Lowes Island and Evergreen Mill. Additionally, he has led Hamilton Elementary and Cedar Lane School Community as principal and has taught at Leesburg and Blue Ridge Middle Schools.

Mr. Marple’s journey in education began in college, where his love for basketball not only fueled his coaching career but also ignited a deeper desire to connect with students beyond the sports arena. This experience inspired him to take on leadership roles, where he could make a broader impact on students’ lives.

When I asked about his decision to join Brambleton Middle School, Mr. Marple emphasized his admiration for the school’s commitment to excellence and the supportive, kind atmosphere fostered by both students and staff. He believes that such an environment is crucial for student growth and success.

Strollin’ Around Loudoun Market

JUNIOR WRITERS EXPLORE A NEIGHORHOOD BOUTIQUE!

This October, the Stroll Junior Writer Team visited Loudoun Market, the fun and unique gift shop near Hammerdown off of Trailhead, overlooking Route 50.

After we received reporter’s notebooks and Stroll pens swag to help kick off the new school year, we got to hear from Sara Jayne, the owner of Loudoun Market. She told us her inspiration for starting her business

with her daughter, Two Jaynes, and how she created Loudoun Market.

After we chatted with her, we headed into the shop. Inside, there was a very cool antique telephone booth; it even had a real telephone book! Each of us took turns going inside, pretending to call people.

Then we explored upstairs. The inside of the building was beautifully decorated; each room had its own vendor

and theme. There was a really cool room decorated for the holidays. We all took a pictures of what we thought would make great gifts for friends and family. When it was time to go, parents shopped a little while we continued to look around.

This Stroll meeting was very fun, perhaps one of the best, and in your free time I recommend stopping by Loudoun Market and shopping a little, especially during the holiday season!

Willard celebrates national Walk, Bike, and Roll to School Day!

IMAGINE YOU’RE ON YOUR WAY to school and all of a sudden you see a bunch of kids walking, biking, scootering, and even hoverboarding to school! Those are just some of the things you see on National Walk, Bike and Roll to School Day. This year’s event happened on October 9th and Willard Middle School participated, encouraging students to walk or roll in to school! The first ever Bike and Roll to School Day was held in 1997, but the first ever national day was held in 2012! Originally the day was called Walk Our Children to School Day, but for the 2012 event they decided to change it to the name we know now! Willard’s event spanned during morning arrival time, from 8:00 - 8:30 am. Upon arrival, students who participated were encouraged to grab snacks, such as granola bars or fruit snacks, that were laid out by the PE teachers. There was also a chance for kids to get slap bracelets and keychains with the Bike and Roll logo on them. Decorations included a balloon banner photo opportunity with the words Bike and Roll on it. The event was advertised beforehand on the morning announcements, and around the school on posters and in emails to Wilard families. Overall the event was super fun and a great way to encourage kids to be active outside!

FROM PRESLEY:

One of the biggest events that happens in Willowsford is the Autumn Fest! This year, the Autumn Fest was held on October 19 at the Willowsford Lodge. This annual event is fun for all ages. From horse-drawn hay rides to painting pumpkins and live music on the lawn, this event has a lot to offer. Some of the things that occur during this event are hay rides, face painting, balloon animal making, and painting pumpkins. My family and friends went to the Autumn Fest and loved it. My favorite part was going on the hay rides because I love horses. The total ride was about 10 minutes long giving you plenty of time to enjoy the ride! They kept the speed low but at one time brought it up to a trot (jog). At the end of the ride, you had the option to go up and pet the horses. The horses were really sweet. The breed of horse they brought was called a Belgian Draft Horse, look them up, they’re huge!

Other fun events included complimentary face painting and balloon animal sculptures. I personally didn’t get a balloon animal but I know someone who did. There were many choices such as flowers, snakes, and tigers. The balloons were a big hit! Everywhere you went you could always see someone holding a balloon in their hand. They had dogs, turtles, dinosaurs, and so much more! I have one more thing to talk about, can you guess what it is? That’s right, the pumpkin painting, hosted by the Conservancy! You could take your pick of miniature pumpkins, and start painting away. I think people loved this so much because they could get a little crazy and do whatever they want. But one of the biggest activities was enjoying time with friends! We saw groups of people set up a barbecues and picnics and spent the afternoon hanging out. There were kids playing football in the open fields, and people walking around enjoying the good weather.

Another fun thing to do was make caramel apples. I personally don’t usually like caramel but these apples were delicious. There were so many fun toppings, like sprinkles and oreo crumbles! My friends and I piled a lot of stuff on. They were very tasty. While we are on the topic of food, you could preorder a yummy picnic box lunch prepared by Chef Emily. They were so good! The kids’ meals included mac ’n cheese, hot dogs, and a tiny cornbread muffin. Meanwhile, adults could choose barbecue pork sandwiches or chicken sausage, plus coleslaw, mac ’n cheese, and cornbread squares. You could enjoy your picnic while listening to music (and let your kids run around) and relax.

Let’s talk about that great music - it was a live band that played bluegrass music! I loved dancing to the songs. Also I liked the string instruments that were in the band because I am a viola player myself! Plus, it was so fun to run around, especially during the fast music. They had a sweet little stage set up, right in front of the lake. As you walked past along the lake toward the hayrides, the Conservancy had the pumpkin painting station set up by the Boat House. They were also giving out candy! They always have great information about the land and the farm! If you didn’t go to the Autumn Fest this year, make sure to go next year. It’s a great way to spend a fall afternoon with friends and family!

Neigh-borhood Star

Tavern the Horse trots into our hearts!

What made you decide to own a horse as a pet?

I’m an equine vet, and Tavern was a gift from a client. I took care of him when he was a racehorse and fell in love with him. When he retired, his owner wanted me to have him.

What’s your horse’s name?

His name is Tavern, which is his registered racing name, and I’ve kept it for his show name as well. His barn name is T.

How long have you had him?

I’ve had him since he was 3 years old, and he’s now 18, so I’ve had him for 15 years.

What is his personality like?

He’s like a giant dog! Tavern is energetic and athletic, very sweet, and sometimes forgets how big he is. He’ll bravely jump over a crazy-looking fence but can be startled by something simple, like a bag blowing in the wind. He knows when he’s done well and prances around with pride. He loves to jump and will do anything for a treat. He’s also very patient; when I taught at the vet school, he was often used for students to practice ultrasounding or taking radiographs. He would stand for hours while they worked around him.

FEATURE SPONSORED BY MIGHTY CLEAN CARPET CARE

How often do you ride him?

We used to ride 5-6 days a week and show on the weekends, but I don’t have as much time anymore. He’s now enjoying semi-retirement at a friend’s house.

What is your favorite thing about having a horse as a pet?

Owning a horse is a significant time commitment; you spend 2-3 times as long grooming and caring for them as you do riding. Riding and jumping are thrilling—feeling the power of a horse beneath you as you approach a jump, then soaring over the fence is an incredible adrenaline rush. Grooming and simply being in the barn help me relax and clear my mind. When I’m around horses, I have to focus on them, which forces me to enjoy the moment. My daughter and I ride on Fridays, and it’s become my favorite way to end the week and kick off the weekend. Riding helps me forget the stress of the week.

Tell us more about Tavern!

Tavern is an off-the-track Thoroughbred (OTTB) and is quite tall at 17.1 hands (a hand is 4 inches). He was a racehorse before I owned him and won his first two races.

Tavern has also been featured as a centerfold in Vanity Fair magazine and appeared in a commercial, along with two other magazines. He loves the camera and hams it up for attention. For the Vanity Fair shoot, he even rode in a regular elevator to stand in a chandelier bar for the photo! Together, Tavern and I have shown at A-level shows in both the hunter and jumper rings, and we particularly enjoy the jumper classes.

Wow! Okay, one last question: What is Tavern’s favorite treat? Peppermints! And they make his breath nice and fresh!

Sisters that Sell

What were the most expensive homes sold in Willowsford this year?

Deborah: It’s always interesting to look at the most expensive homes sold in Willowsford, so we decided to break it down by sections. (Note: this includes listings entered into the MLS prior to November 3rd, 2024, but there may be private sales outside of the MLS that aren’t included.)

Michelle: The highest-priced home sold in Willowsford is located in the Grant section at 41222 Traminette Court, closing at an impressive $2,869,000 in cash. This NV Monticello II model closed in April 2024. It stands out as the most expensive home sold in Willowsford by over $100,000 in 2024, while last year’s highest sale was $2,649,990 for 23261 Meadow Star Place.

Deborah: In the Greens section, the NV Clifton Park II model at 25192 Lotus Pond Place sold for $2,210,000 in September 2024, exceeding its asking price by $110,000. However, recent record sales have been achieved by NV Homes’ Monticello II models, with 41054 Hickory Bluff Court selling for $2,550,000 in 2022 and 25152 Lotus Pond Place selling for $2,510,000 in 2023. The Monticello II models are notably larger, around 10,000 total square feet, compared to approximately 7,500 square feet for the Clifton Park II models.

In comparison, the 2022 sale of 2475 Forester Pass Lane, a Dress home, reached $2,000,000. Typically, Dress homes in this area command higher prices than NV Homes.

BMeet the Embracing community, sports, and family adventure! Ghaemi Family

ack when Sandra and Hamed Ghaemi wanted their kids to nap, a drive around the NoVa countryside would do the trick. One weekend, they discovered the Willowsford model homes and were smitten. “Though our Brambleton home was only three years old, we impulsively put down a deposit on a Beazer home, and never looked back,” Sandra said. “It was absolutely meant to be.”

Oldest child Kylie is now 9. A 4th grader at Hovatter Elementary, she’s in her fourth year of competitive cheerleading with the Maryland Twisters. She’s a caring friend, social butterfly, and ultimate tween-skincare regime and all. Kenzo, 7, is in 2nd grade at Henrietta Lacks Elementary. A charismatic kid who’s enthusiastic about everything he loves, Kenzo plays travel soccer with the VA Revolution and is active in flag football and basketball. When he’s not playing sports, he’s talking sports!

Both boys were recently diagnosed with Familial Mediterranean Fever, an autoinflammatory genetic disorder. While Kenzo is symptom-free, Kairo was fighting high fevers, inflammation, and joint pain for the past year, which were written off as “just viral.” He now has a treatment plan and is responding to medication, thanks to his pediatrician and medical team at Children’s Hospital.

Sandra, a NoVa native, went to Marymount and holds a master’s in clinical psychology and a postmaster’s in school counseling. After working in private practice, she spent 10 years in school counseling. When Kairo was born mid-pandemic, she switched to customer success management. But her real passion lies in all things creative, fashion, and beauty--see her fabulous finds @MomingInNoVa!

Hamed has worked in Cybersecurity for Comcast for 10 years. A Maryland native and GWU alum, he will never pass up a challenge. Sandra says he’s definitely the outgoing one in the relationship.

The two met at a friend’s party in college, married in 2014, and since their families are nearby, made Virginia their permanent home. Their first “kid,” a Malshi pup named Mika, is living her best life 11 years later.

Both Sandra and Hamed believe in teaching empathy and kindness by example. “The kids [see that] we’re aware of our actions and the impact they have on our family,” Hamed said.

When asked to describe their life currently, the Ghaemis

call this their “SPORTS and BIRTHDAYS” season of life.

“If we’re not at a game or competition, we’re probably celebrating a birthday with one of our neighbors who also have multiple children. We have created such an amazing network of friends here; we cannot imagine life elsewhere.”

Regal Maid Service

From spotless windows to a sparkling home – we’ve got you covered!

Feeling like there’s never enough hours in the day is all too common. One of the easiest ways to free up your time is to hire a house cleaning company. By outsourcing this task, you can focus on activities that are important to you. If this sounds appealing, look no further than Regal Maid Service for your house cleaning needs. This well-established cleaning company is owned by Willowsford residents Joanne and Tim Hollindrake. Regal Maid Service has been helping homeowners with their house cleaning requests since 2007. All employees are fully vetted, meticulously trained, and committed to customer service and professionalism. The company is licensed, bonded, and insured and offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee. Furthermore, Regal Maid Service will tailor cleanings to a homeowner’s liking.

“We have customers that are only looking for certain parts of their homes cleaned and also specific cleaning products or methods of cleaning,” shares Joanne. “It is important for us to understand this so we can meet their needs.” Likewise, their tenured business is a wealth of information and can connect customers to other companies who can help with services beyond their reach. “Having been in the business for close to 20 years, we have made many connections in different service industries,” she adds.

“Having been in the business for close to 20 years, we have made many connections in

different service industries.”

The business owners say they have learned valuable lessons along the way.

“It may sound silly, but one of the biggest lessons that we have learned is that you can’t please everyone,” they share. “You can certainly try your best and that is what we aim to do every day. We try not to take things too personally and understand that every person has different cleaning needs. If we can’t meet someone’s expectations, then its ok to move on.”

From residential cleaning to business cleaning, Regal Maid Service does it all— including windows, which is Tim’s specialty. Leaving windows to professionals guarantee spotless results as well as keeps a homeowner safe. “One of the most challenging aspects of cleaning windows is the height and also the ground beneath for balancing ladders,” Tim cautions. He also adds that it’s “always important to communicate with customers if seals have broken in windows as these will not look clean,” and will create a cloudy result. With that in mind, it’s always good to have a professional clean your windows who know how to handle and care for them.

Another benefit to working with Regal Maid Service is the professional relationship that’s built overtime. “We like to allocate our regular customers a specific team so the ladies can get to know the homeowner and in return feel comfortable with the people in their home,” says Joanne. “There is a lot of trust required to allow people access to your home and at Regal Maid Service we value the trust people give us.”

The Willowsford community is one example of where Regal Maid Service has earned trust. “Community is everything and giving back to the people that support us. The homes in Willowsford are all unique and have to be treated as such,” says Joanne. “One size does not fit all and that is what we try to explain to our customers.”

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A PART OF STROLL?

“As small business owners, it is always nice to come together to share our successes but also to understand the frustrations that can happen. Sometimes you feel like you are on an island but to talk to other owners and learn how they handled certain situations is priceless. It is also nice to meet and support our fellow Willowsford business owners and learn about their businesses.”

Alleviate the stress and burdens of maintaining the Instagram-worthy home by delegating the cleaning to Regal Maid Service. Contact today for your free estimate!

Willowsford young residents William and Harrison Morford were recently cast in their second professional theatre production in Washington, D.C. --Leopoldstadt at Shakespeare Theatre Company. The play follows a Jewish family as it grows and struggles over the course of nearly 60 years, beginning with their initial assimilation into Viennese culture, negotiating the outbreak of two World Wars through to the aftermath of the Holocaust. Traversing decades of joy and strife, the family strives to maintain their delicate bonds of shared history. Directed by celebrated playwright/director Carey Perloff, in a new arrangement she crafted with Tom Stoppard, the Tony and Olivier Award-winning play Leopoldstadt offers “an intensely personal family drama” (Variety) for the holiday season.

These young actors, who made their professional theatre debut last year in Ford’s Theatre’s A Christmas Carol, are excited to grow as actors and showcase their versatility by helping to tell such a powerful, emotional

story. William, who will play the roles of Pauli and Young Leo says, “I’m really excited to have the opportunity to perform on another big stage in D.C. I am reading a lot about Jewish history, traditions, and World War II to prepare for the roles. It’s going to be intense, and I am looking forward to the challenge.”

Harrison is playing the roles of Young Jacob and Heini. He said, “This is going to be such a cool experience for me that most nine-year-olds don’t get to have. I love to act, and I’m really proud and excited I got this chance. It’s so fun to work with talented actors and directors who can help me become better at something I love to do.”

The show will run from November 30 to December 29. At least one of the Morford boys will be on stage for every performance, alternating in their roles with other local young performers.

If you’d like to see the boys on stage, tickets start at $35 and can be purchased at the Shakespeare Theatre Company’s website at shakespearetheatre.org/events/ leopoldstadt-24-25/.

Kids share their favorite holiday moments! | THIS FEATURE SPONSORED BY SOUTH RIDING PEDIATRICS

One of my favorite holiday traditions is traveling to Tennessee to visit all of my family. It is so exciting to finally get to see everyone, and celebrate the holiday season. - LUCAS

(clementines stuffed with cloves) and try different designs every year! - ANNA

My holiday tradition is playing the game Pokeno with my family after dinner on Christmas and New Year’s. Pokeno is a card game that is similar to Bingo. My mom grew up playing this game with her family during the holidays.DOMINICK

house for the Holiday. We watch “Elf” and “The Christmas Story.” We bake cookies and hope the Brinkers bring back the DMP cookie swap again! - CARLEY

pot. It smells like juice and cookies. - WESTON

A special celebration for my family is Diwali. We celebrate this day usually sometime between October and November. We celebrate Diwali by lighting diyas, visiting the temple, and lighting fireworks. - PAREEN

One tradition that my family has is that every Christmas Eve day we bake sugar cookies. My siblings and I get to role out the dough, cut out cookie shapes and douse them in sprinkles before they bake. It’s always chaotic and messy, but it always solidifies my holiday spirit!

- HAYDEN

One of my family’s holiday traditions is making my Opa’s recipe for Dutch pancakes. A dutch pancake is very thin with toppings like apple slices, bacon, or chocolate chips baked into them but you don’t even need toppings to make them delicious, it comes naturally. - EMILY V.

We always set up the angel band. These 4” wooden figurines have different instruments and are made in Eastern Germany. My grandparents began collecting them in the mid-80s and added to their collection on their many trips to Germany. My mom has about 75 that were given to her from her parents and she has added a few more over the years. - ADDY

My family has 3 big traditions that lead up to Christmas that we love doing and it really gets us in the holiday spirit! The first is my brother’s and Dad’s favorite watching the Macy’s thanksgiving parade from my Dad’s office at 30 Rockefeller plaza. My favorite is going to a Steelers game in Pittsburgh every year in between thanksgiving and Christmas. My Mom’s favorite is to get a suite at the Gaylord in early December and watch the holiday lights show!KIRAN

Thanksgiving weekend and matching pajamas! After Thanksgiving we all get involved hanging ornaments and playing Christmas music throughout the house! Another favorite of mine is when we wear matching pajamas on Christmas morning! I just love spending time with my family during the holidays no matter what we are doing! - KYLIE

We have a lot of family traditions at Christmas time! Every year, we bake sugar cookies and gingerbread houses. We always go to church together on Christmas Eve and then the whole family spends the night and open presents together on Christmas morning! Santa always leaves a present outside our bedroom doors to let us know he has arrived! - SAMMY AND KATIE

We enjoy going to Water Park like Great Wolf or Skiing at Massanutten Resort during the holidays! - ZIYAD

Our McMillian family tradition is deciding what color decorations we will use for the year. Sometimes it’s silver and blue, another year we may use red and white. We enjoy getting to decide together. Recently, my mom bought a small tree for just my brother and I and we get to decorate that one any way we like! - CYDNEY

Diwali is a festival of lights. We put candles in front of our doors, they are called ‘Diyas’. We also light fireworks. We decorate our houses with lights and give sweets to friends and family. I like Diwali because I get to eat a variety of sweets and enjoy fireworks with my family. - VIRAJ

Christmas is my favorite time of year because of the tradition of watching my dad’s amazing Christmas lights display and then checking out all the cool lights in our neighborhood. - MADISON G.

A tradition that my family does every year during the holiday season is homemade advent calendars. An advent calendar is a little gift in a compartment that you pick out once every day from the start of December till Christmas Day. - SYDNEY

A fun family Christmas tradition my family does each year is open an advent calendar counting down the days until Jesus’ birth! - PRESLEY

Every year for Christmas, my family and extended family take a group photo with a different theme. One year, it was Christmas PJs; another year, ugly sweaters, Ankara prints, brown tones, glam...the list goes on! We do these photo shoots no matter what. We’ve kept it going through rain or snow for ten years, and I love seeing how my extended family grows over the years.

In addition to Christmas, my family celebrates Kwanzaa. We get together with family and friends to light the kinara candles and talk about things like unity and creativity. We also enjoy yummy food and dancing. It’s my favorite way to end the holiday! - CICI

On Christmas Eve we open gifts from each other (my mom and dad to my sister and I, my sister and I to each other and our gifts to our parents), we get dressed in our matching Christmas Pajamas, take a family photo and go to bed. After opening gifts Christmas morning there are always two cans of silly string in the bottom of our stockings, and we go outside for a “silly string war” before breakfast. - COLE
