As I contemplated what to say to the Class of 1970—and to meet the December 15 deadline—the first snow of the season has just brightened the campus and most of the students are taking history and math exams, our first tests under the new trimester system, and we are all looking forward to vacation without returning to School under the oppressive burden of semester exams.
The trimester system, as you know, is one of many changes you have helped us bring to the Northampton School for Girls—among them Project 555—and perhaps this class will be remembered most as the one that first successfully undertook Project 555.
You also participated in the groundbreaking of the new building and watched its foundations grow. I hope you will come back for the dedication.
You are the largest graduating class ever at the Northampton School for Girls, and because of your diversity, your savvy, and your understanding, you have helped us resolve a number of problems that inevitably arise when changes are made in every area of School life. All of you should come back as the years go by as we will continue to need your constructive and sympathetic criticism, your understanding and your support, in order to keep the Northampton School for Girls a creative and growing community in the 1970s.
Many thanks to you all; it has been a pleasure knowing you; and all the best to you in whatever you undertake in the decade ahead.

Clouds angels they're Friendly sometimes, but you can never be sure. If I had longer arms I'd push the clouds away or make them hang above the water somewhere else, but I'm just a man who needs and wants, mostly things he'll never have. Looking for that thing that's hardest to find—
I've been going a long time now along the way I've learned some things. You have to make the good times yourself take the little times and make them into big times and save the times that are all right for the ones that aren't so good.
I've never been able to push the clouds away by myself. Help me.
