Panel Description Architectural precast consists of a solid concrete panel that typically has a 4" minimum thickness. This overall thickness may need to be increased depending on other factors such as: The section shape of panel has deep returns, deep reveals or protruding bullnose features; The Designer chooses to adhere natural or manmade materials to the face of panel. (ie. Thin Brick, Granite, Limestone, or Tile); Additional structural strength needed due to longer spans between connection points; Or to take on additional external loads such as auto impact in parking garages or blast loading. A 4" thick panel weighs approximately 55 pounds per square foot of surface area. The maximum panel size is determined by material properties, project requirements and shipping limits. Architectural Precast Architectural Design Options
Architectural Precast mix designs come in a wide range of colors and textures. There are no standard colors. All mix designs are custom made to the designer’s choice of color and sand blasted finish. Light sandblast finishes leave the matrix color in place and leave the surface fairly smooth. A heavy sand blast finish will expose the aggregate in the mix to create a completely different look. Utilizing Light and Heavy sandblasted finishes in the same panel, or project, is a common design option. Custom Form liners can make the surface of Precast simulate other natural materials such as Brick, Wood, or Stone. Adhering Thin Brick, Limestone, and Granite veneers to the face of Architectural Precast is also an option. Contact Willis Construction to discuss your projects specific design.
