MESSAGE FROM THE DIVISION PRESIDENT
Good Day Team, Hope everyone is ready for the upcoming next 2 months with the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays approaching and the new year just around the corner. I know I am, and I have a few things I would like to let you know what I’m thankful for. First, what an honor it is to be associated with such a wonderful company these past 48 years and it’s leader of the pack for the past 13. It’s been a pleasure and I’m most certainly looking forward to what this fiscal year has in store for us. Secondly, we had a great fiscal year in 2023 and this year’s outlook for the William R. Nash organization looks even more promising. So with that being said, we have a lot to celebrate this fall, you all should be very proud. My own personal thanks for all that you do, day in and day out, as we certainly could not do it without each and every one of you! This fall’s “The Nash Pipeline” has lots of good stuff in it, so please take the time to take it all in, as we touch on team member spotlights and anniversaries, current projects, and department updates, including our new PTO policy that goes in effect in January 2024. I would like to mention that once again William R. Nash was a multiple award winner for 4 of our projects at the 2023 ABC Florida East Coast Chapter “Excellence in Construction” Awards Banquet in October. Two Eagle and Two Pyramid winners we were, oh my! Thanks to our Op’s team members for their hard work and dedication to their craft, keep it up! Another accolade we proudly earned again in 2023 was the honor of being designated as an “Accredited Quality Contractor” by both the Florida East Coast and Carolinas chapter of ABC. If you read on, you can find out which projects were the winners and what ABC’s AQC program is all about. I hope everyone was happy with our recent Health & Dental Insurance renewal that just took place, on November 1, 2023. I know I was extremely pleased we were able to once again as an organization this year, be able to absorb the increase in monthly premium for the coming year without impacting both your benefits provided in your plan or your pocketbook each week. I realize it probably feels like we’re constantly tangling with price increases in everything we do, so to be able to provide that comfort to you is satisfying for us as an organization. Finally, for those who are able, I hope to see you at the upcoming Holiday Company Picnic taking place on December 2, 2023, at our usual location, CB Smith Park in Pembroke Pines, FL. PROJECT SPOTLIGHT TRIDENT REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER
Summerville, South Carolina Summerville Medical Center has unveiled a groundbreaking $66.8 million initiative to construct a state-of-the-art inpatient facility with 56 beds. This transformative endeavor is specifically tailored to cater to the burgeoning needs of the expanding Lowcountry community. The undertaking represents a momentous achievement for the hospital, as it has dedicated over $200 million in the past ten years towards augmenting its infrastructure, services, and personnel, thus ensuring that families can access top-notch healthcare within close proximity to their homes. Following its completion, the inpatient project will bolster Summerville Medical Center’s licensed bed capacity by an impressive 40 percent, reaching a total of 174 licensed beds. As the trusted industry leader in mechanical installations, our experienced jobsite team will be responsible for providing complete mechanical services, including the installation of AHUs (Air Handler Units), for the new two-floor expansion. This project entails a comprehensive build-out of the existing 3rd floor shell space, a new 4th floor expansion, and future connections to the upcoming 5th floor shell space. In addition to the expansion, we will also supply and install two state-of-the-art boilers to enhance the facility’s powerhouse capabilities. With this expansion, the facility will gain an impressive 64,000 square feet, accommodating 30 medical/surgical private beds, 14 intensive care unit beds, and 12 progressive care unit beds.

PROJECT UPDATES OFFICE BUILDOUT AT WESTLAWN BULLSTREET Columbia, South Carolina We are pleased to share progress photos of the ongoing Elliot Davis Westlawn 2nd Floor uplift project in Columbia, South Carolina. As part of our construction process, we have implemented a new and efficient duct system from Linx Industries. This revolutionary push-together duct system significantly reduces labor requirements during installation. Additionally, we have utilized the Gripple hanging system to streamline the entire installation process. The combination of these innovative systems has resulted in substantial labor savings while minimizing any additional material costs. We firmly believe that adopting such cutting-edge technologies allows our team to operate more efficiently in the field.
PROJECT UPDATES UHEALTH DORAL AMBULATORY CARE CENTER Doral, Florida Exciting Updates on the Progress of the UHealth at Doral Ambulatory Center Project! Our team is making remarkable progress in the construction of this cuttingedge healthcare facility, from the construction of the parking garage to the installation of the underground fuel tank. You can witness our team’s expert installation of the overhead domestic water system, overhead natural gas system, and overhead medical gas system. In addition, we have completed the installation of the underground fuel tank and made significant progress in the in-wall roughing of lav carriers and wall-hung water closet carriers.
PROJECT UPDATES UHEALTH AT SOLÉ MIA Miami, Florida We have some exciting news to share about the latest developments at the UHealth at SoLé Mia project! The construction progress is ongoing, and we are currently focusing on various important installations. On the first floor, we are in the process of installing cast iron components to manage rainwater. Additionally, we are working on the installation of cold and hot water systems for a scrub sink within the walls. Furthermore, overhead racks are being set up to accommodate medical gas and domestic water needs. Lastly, we are also laying out the plans for the cast iron structures that will be installed overhead. These updates showcase our commitment to quality and innovation in construction.

At Lawnwood, prefabricated racks have been installed on the 3rd floor to coordinate with prefabricated dry wall and framing, along with prefabricated Blox units. When you walk the halls of Lawnwood, the WRN team is work hard!

Our experienced Mechanical Job site team deserves a special mention for their impeccable execution of the AHU installation at the HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital Project in Port Charlotte, Florida. Their technical expertise and attention to detail ensured a seamless integration of the Air Handler Unit, contributing to the overall successful progress of the project.

HR UPDATES NEW PTO POLICY PAID TIME OFF Paid time off (PTO) provides you with the flexibility to use your time off to meet your personal needs, while recognizing your individual responsibility to manage your paid time off. You will accumulate a specified amount of PTO each pay period worked and it is up to you to allocate how you will use it – for vacation, illness, caring for children, school activities, medical/ dental appointments, leave, personal business, or emergencies. The company may require you to use unpaid PTO during disability or family medical leave, or any other leave of absence. The amount of PTO earned will depend on your length of service with the Company. ou are eligible to receive PTO if you are a regular status employee scheduled to work at least 30 hrs. per week.
PTO SCHEDULING To the extent possible, PTO is to be requested and approved by the supervisor in advance. Supervisors are responsible for scheduling/tracking PTO in a manner that balances the operational and service delivery needs of the department with the time off preferences of the employee. William R. Nash, Inc. reserves the right to deny requests which may have an adverse effect on its operations or cancel previously approved PTO requests if unexpected circumstances arise which require the staff’s attendance at work. In the event of illness or emergency preventing the employee from requesting PTO in advance, employee is to notify the supervisor no later than the start of the workday (unless the situation makes this impossible) and explain the need to take unscheduled time off. Employee carrying PTO balances may not opt to take excused absences without pay in lieu of PTO for purposes of saving accrued PTO time. Employees with insufficient PTO balances to cover requested periods of time off may be granted excused time off without pay at the discretion of supervision. You are responsible for managing your PTO account. It is important that you plan ahead for how you will use it. This means developing a plan for taking vacations, as well as doctor’s appointments and personal business. It also means holding some time in “reserve” for the unexpected, such as emergencies and illnesses. Due to the nature of our projects, Project Managers and Supervisors cannot request planned PTO at the same time.
