MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT RUSSELL NASH Hello Team,

PRESIDENT & C.E.O

As I am writing this message for the last issue of 2021, it’s hard to believe that just a couple of months ago we completed our 1st fiscal year under our new ownership with HB Global, LLC. (a very successful year I might add!) Thanksgiving, Hannukah, Christmas and the New Year holidays are right around the corner and no hurricanes either!

Since I last spoke a lot has happened and is happening here at William R. Nash. Starting off, as I mentioned our 1st anniversary of transitioning ownership and becoming part of the HB Global team. I’m quite pleased with the transition and I hope you all are as well. I see a bright future for our company and believe we are well under way of great things happening not only for the company but for all of our team members! I’m also proud to report that four (4) of our projects won Eagle Awards at the most recent “ABC Excellence in Construction Awards” last month. One of the projects, the “MBCC Covid-19 Temporary Hospital Environment”, won the “Specialty Contractor Project of the Year” award. You can read more about those wins in the newsletter. Congrats to all of our team that contributed to the efforts on those projects.

We’re invading a new Island! Well not really invading, but super excited about the Nash Team starting a new project in the Cayman Islands for the first time in the company’s history. It’s a new “Hotel Indigo” and work for Nash is scheduled to begin in January 2022.

Hoping to make this a long-term relationship as future opportunities present themselves.

Regarding our work here in the U.S. and the Virgin Islands, we are full steam ahead. We are truly blessed and thankful for all the opportunities that we have been given. Besides our current workload in South Carolina, we have recently been awarded an additional 3 new projects. More about them later as well in the newsletter. We’ve hauled in a BIG win with the most recent award of the new Bed Tower at the Boca Raton Regional Hospital. The addition of this 3 year project as well as new upcoming work in the USVI and all the work our Special projects and Service Department is bringing in on a continuous basis, 2022 and 2023 are shaping up to be very productive years.

We have some exciting and fun events coming up on our calendar. On December 4th, we will be holding our Company Holiday picnic once again at C.B. Smith park in Pembroke Pines, FL. If you haven’t already, please RSVP through the form provided by the Human Resources department. The more the merrier!

Finally, we will also be recording and sharing our own William R. Nash Annual Company Address in mid-December. This will be different than the live and recorded presentation we held in conjunction with HB Global last April. All the content and information provided will be related to only our organization. We will be sharing very important information and also go into more detail of our past & upcoming year’s work and financial outlook. Please make it a point to attend virtually. Further details to follow in the very near future.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT ENCOMPASS HEALTH REHABILITATION HOSPITAL

Location: Naples, Florida General Contractor: Brasfield & Gorrie Project Manager: Almary Gonzalez Estimated Completion: 2022

The Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital is an inpatient hospital that specializes in rehabilitation and hospice care. The hospital is set to open mid 2022.

“Complementing local acute care services, the hospital will care for patients recovering from debilitating illnesses and injuries including strokes and other neurological disorders, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations and complex orthopedic conditions. The hospital will provide physical, occupational and speech therapies that aim to restore functional ability and quality of life and 24‑hour care by registered nurses, many of whom are certified in rehabilitation nursing.”

William R. Nash was contracted to work on the 50 bedroom inpatient rehabilitation hospital. The contracted scope consists of associated utilities, storm water and parking infrastructure. The facility will feature a rehabilitation gym, isolation rooms, a full kitchen and a dialysis unit.

The mechanical scope uncludes RTU’s and OAU’s, exhaust fans and Building Automation System.

The plumbing scope includes hot and cold domestic water, a med gas system, grease, waste and vent piping.

Special/Unique qualities for this project: All patient bathrooms are prefabricated BLOX units and our Pre-fabrication department is working on all underground to match these units - Almary Gonzalez, Project Manager.

Great shots of the Underground Prefab work at the Encompass Health Health Rehabilitation Hospital. Our team successfully produced, delivered, and installed 41 bathroom PODs as one piece installs (normally these are broken down into several pieces) allowing for expedited production on site!

Progress Photos at Baptist Health Care New Main Campus in Pensacola, Florida.

Nash Mechanical LLC. (JV between William R. Nash, LLC and Nash Plumbing and Mechanical, LLC.) is providing complete Plumbing, Mechanical, and Medical Gas Services for this project. Doors are expected to open in the Fall of 2023.

Our team participated in West Kendall Baptist Chassis Expansion Top out Party in Miami, Florida in early November. All trade contractors were celebrated for their hard work and treated to a BBQ lunch and prizes!

PROJECT UPDATES

Progress Photos at the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute project in Fort. Pierce, Florida. William R. Nash is installing complete Mechanical and Plumbing systems for for the new three story 32 bed tower expansion consisting of 92,286 sq. ft. of additional space. There will also be 17,109 sq. ft. of renovation work. A new 5,600 sq. ft Central Energy Plant will support the added demand of the tower.

PROJECT SPOTLIGHTS - SOUTH CAROLINA FREED AND SALBAL PARKING DECK AND WESTLAWN SHELL BUILDING

Location: Columbia, South Carolina General Contractor: Brasfield & Gorrie Project Manager: William Dalton Estimated Completion: Mid Decmber 2021

Hughes Development Corporation (HDC) is constructing two parking garages at the Bull Street Campus that will be leased by the City of Columbia. One garage will be located along Sabal Street and is expected to have three levels with a foot print of approximately 27,000 sq. ft. and is labeled by Kimley-Horn as the Sabal Street parking garage. The other planned parking struture is labeled by Kimley-Horn as the Freed Street parking garage. It will be six (6) levels with a footprint of approximately 38,500 sq. ft.

William R. Nash is performing Mechanical, Plumbing and Sheet Metal Installation services for this project. Something unique about his project is that there is a five (5) story office building being built between the garages all with Brasfield and Gorrie.

WESTLAWN OFFICE BUILDING

Location: Columbia, South Carolina General Contractor: Brasfield & Gorrie Project Manager: William Dalton (PM), Marc Braun (Superintendent) Estimated Completion: April 2022 A 5 story mixed use office building. Just the shell and basic HVAC are being installed at this time. The floors will be leased out to different companies and built out to their wishes.

William R. Nash is performing Mechanical Installation serivces for this project. A unique quality of this project is that this project consists of wooden floors that will get a covering of concrete over it. Our team will be using the Kool Duct system on this project and hope to use it as a model for others.

GOOD SAMARITAN WAVERLY HOSPITAL RENOVATION AND UTILITIES

Location: Columbia, South Carolina General Contractor: GMK Associates Project Manager: William Dalton (PM), Marc Braun (Superintendent) Estimated Completion: Mid Decmber August 2022

This is a multiphase project that includes the renovation of an existing building. We are doing both the HVAC and Plumbing on this project. It will also include an addition that will be an auditorium for Allen University’s educational programs to use.

William R. Nash is performing Plumbing and Mechanical Installation services for this project. A unique quality of this project is that this is a historical building and a staple in downtown Columbia.

Congratulations to Caroline Roman (Estimating Assistant) and her husband! They were married in early November at Secret Gardens Miami in Homestead, Florida.

We wish them all the best in their new chapter of life!

IT’S GETTING HOT IN THE FAB SHOP! Recently, John Andrejko and Tom Sullivan from NIBCO INC., hosted a soldering training for our fabshop team!

“The crew focused on application of proper heat displacement on brass valves and soldering techniques to ensure a quality joint with 80% or higher penetration of solder into the cup. Pleased that all four of the new employees have passed with 90% or better penetration . The better your crew is trained in proper techniques, the better the final product will be!!”

A “KOOLER” WAY TO TRANSPORT AIR.

In an effort to further our Green Building initiative at William R. Nash, team members Fernando Giordani, Anthony Merola, and William Dalton were trained and certified in KoolDuct installation.

STEPPING OUTSIDE THE OFFICE In September, The Accounting Department visited University Hospital in Tamarac, Florida. Senior Project Manager, Billy Wells, gave a full tour of the jobsite and introduced them to active construction in a healthcare facility. 4 of the 6 Accounting team members had never been on a project site! This adventure supplied our team with a better understanding of what happens in Operations and made real connections to fellow employee owners and outside vendors they were familiar with through Accounting.

ABC EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION AWARDS An excellent example of exhibiting one of our Core Values; Team, William R. Nash was successfully awarded 4 Eagle awards at the Associated Builders and Contractors Excellence in Construction Awards Banquet! Of which, The Miami Beach Convention Center Covid-19 Temporary Hospital received the Specialty Contractor of the year award, a new recognition presented by the organization. The other project recipients included: Aventura Hospital and Medical Center Bed Tower Expansion, Baptist Health South Florida Hope Tower and CEP Expansion, and Doctor’s Hospital Chiller Replacement. We couldn’t have achieved this level of success and notoriety without everyone’s help on site and off. We’d like to express our sincerest appreciation to all involved on these projects! Well deserved recognition to all!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHTS Christopher Novatnack has been with William R. Nash for 5 years. He is one of our HVAC Service Technicians. Although Service Technicians work on many different job sites, you can most likely find Christopher at Tenet and/or Baptist Facilities.

Christopher’s responsibilities include being involved in a variety of projects and trades. That includes plumbing, electrical and general HVAC. Mr. Novatnack gets the opportunity to direct and understand specific mechanical components. The satisfaction that he gets from fixing different components and seeing the difference that he along with the service department makes is unmatched. He is calm under pressure, open minded, cautious, confident, and perseveres when the going gets tough; qualities he believes allows him to be successful in his career. Chris’ father is a Navy Veteran and Facility Manager, his mother is a first generation immigrant who recently retired- working most of her life (well deserved!). His brother is a mechanical engineer, and sister is a UF graduate, working on her Masters at the University of Phoenix. When he isn’t working, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, working with computers and games. A quote he lives by, (what he considers the Golden Rule), Rule “Treat others how you would like to be treated.”

Harvey Fernandez is a valued member of our William R. Nash team. He works as one of our Superintendents overseeing St. Mary’s Medical Center and has been a part of the Nash family for 18 years! Harvey is responsible for the day-to-day successful operation of a few of our Nash projects. His favorite part of his job are the daily challenges that arise on any given day, as well as coming up with solutions to solve them. He also likes teaching our team members who are willing to learn new things, along with the right way of doing them. Harvey takes initiative, responsibility, and dedication to his work. Those features make him perfect for his job! At home, Harvey has a wife of 23 years and 2 wonderful children, Samantha who is 15 and Nicolas who is 12! Harvey enjoys anything that has to do with the outdoors as well as movie nights with his family, and spending time with his kids. He also enjoys playing sports and having date nights with his wife! His quote to live by is: “Where there is a will, there is a way.”

Carlos Mojica is one of our HVAC Service Technicians and he was been with William R. Nash for almost 2 years. You can find him at Baptist Hospital Campus and anywhere in the tri-county area where preventative maintenance is needed! Mr. Mojica’s favorite part of his job is to assure the HVAC equipment that has been installed works properly and maintains the quality we stand by. He admires his team and everyone’s willingness to help one another. What Carlos feels makes him successful in his career is that he has the ability to understand and work through issues that arise.

Mr. Mojica’s family is very supportive and has always been there when needed, he describes them as “very hard workers.” When he isn’t working, he enjoys new experiences and places with friends and family. He also likes to work out and spend time with his dog. If Carlos could live by one quote: “ Sometimes life is too uncertain to have regrets.”
