01. Landscape

Winter term 2022

Simon Langton Girl’s Grammar school, Canterbury.

Gardens frame an architectural idea. When carefully crafted, they provide a positive external space that connects and functions as part of the built environment. The brief was to provide a new auditorium and education building alongside new garden spaces that utilised existing woodland and provided areas for socialising, learning and food production.

The education centre mimics a spiral shell as it steps around the central auditorium and rises to frame a view over the city of Canterbury. The building connects the public front of the school with the woodland behind in a wide sweeping curve that terminates at a mezzanine level overlooking a vast gathering space.

03. Collective dwelling

Spring term 2023

Lloyd’s Wharf, Sittingbourne

As our towns and cities grow with a rising population, collective dwelling becomes a dominant architectural typology. The brief tasks us with solving the problem of how high occupancy dwelling spaces be designed positively to improve living standards in densely packed urban realms.

Sittingborune’s past is built on heavy industry and many industrial structures remain. My collective dwelling tower echoes this through the constructivist style. Cantelivered truss modules radiate from the central s service tower and span across the creek.

04. Urban Intervention

Autumn term 2023

Chatham Intra, Medway

Architecture is not only defined by the quality of its internal spaces but the external spaces generated by form and massing. The Urban realm is informed by its public spaces and the connections between them. The live project focussed on regeneration of Chatham Intra high street and re-generating a positive urban environment through a series of strategic interventions.

Connecting the waterfront with the high street was a key aim in intervention. My proposal for the former land of Gray’s car dealership is a series of interconnected squares within new, mixed used development that leads to a waterfront urban room and community space.

05. Health

Spring tern 2024.

The theme of health provided a more focussed project in Chatham Intra. Communities are an essential part of both mental and physical health. My aim was to create a space that fostered a community focused on creating opportunities for health through education, cooking and socialisation.
