Monte Hong ’84, MM’86
Monte Hong is the Worldwide Communications Industry Business Strategy Lead at Microsoft where he is responsible for defining Microsoft’s overall strategy for the Communications Industry, driving adoption of the strategy, providing thought leadership, architecting industry offerings, and building relationships with customers. Mr. Hong has spent his career specializing in large-scale business digital transformation programs for companies across the world. After a 27-year career with Accenture, he left in 2014 to pursue independent consulting work. In 2017, he joined Telkomsel as a CIO and started at Microsoft in 2019. A frequent keynote speaker at industry conferences, Mr. Hong has also published numerous articles and previously served on the Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team for the TM Forum, the largest telecommunications industry business and standards body. Mr. Hong also serves on the Board of Directors for Cayuse Technologies.
Mr. Hong is a double alumnus, having received his undergraduate and Master of Management degrees from Willamette University.
His son, Spencer, is a double alumnus as well: Spencer graduated from Willamette with an economics degree in 2018 and an MBA in 2019.
