WINTER/SPRING 2026
THIS FALL, THERE was so much joy in Springfield! You rode hay-covered trailers during Haunted Hayride, you sunk a tricky 8-foot putt at Ghostly Golf, and you got your pre-meal exercise at Turkey Stuffer on Thanksgiving morning. Kids were also back in after-school care, competing in after-school sports, and we had our biggest class of preschoolers yet! And all this was set beneath stunning fall colors at our 45 beautiful parks.
As we move into 2026, I aim to find more ways to focus on the programs you love, such as events, childcare, camps, youth programs, and fitness classes. This past summer, I dedicated time to reviewing all district operations, programs, and services, and strategized ways to better serve the needs of our district, while continuing to be financially responsible. Since then, we’ve been making some behind-the-scenes changes to help our district grow and improve while delivering better service. As always, we’ll continue to provide essential community services for older adults, enhance our park, trails, and natural areas, and improve and expand our community events and programs, focusing on the ones you’ve supported most.
Your feedback is instrumental in helping us shape the future of our district. If you have any thoughts or suggestions about our operations, please let us know. Key staff contact information can be found on the next page, alongside the table of contents.
Springfield is a terrific place to call home, and we remain dedicated to delivering exceptional parks and recreation services for everyone in our community. We can’t wait to see you at our events, classes, and parks in 2026. Have a wonderful holiday season!

exceptional parks and recreation to enrich the lives of everyone we serve.
Willamalane Park and Recreation District maintains and operates recreation facilities, community centers, pools, parks, trails, and natural areas in Springfield.
Created by voters in 1944, Willamalane is a special tax district, separate from the City of Springfield, governed by a five-member, elected board of directors and managed by an executive director. In 2022, Willamalane earned CAPRA accreditation, which signifies that the organization’s overall quality of operations, management, and service to the community are aligned with industry best practices.
Willamalane proactively works to foster welcoming parks, facilities, and programs, so that all of our community members and staff have access to the same opportunities and feel a genuine sense of belonging.

There are usually no extra costs or fees associated with inclusion or accommodation services. Please submit accommodation requests at least two weeks before the date needed. Some accommodations can be fulfilled in less time.
Accommodations are frequently provided in the form of individualized support plans, a document that outlines the ways Willamalane staff are able to support the needs of the individual.
