A Message from the Executive Director
THERE’S SOMETHING MAGICAL about fall in Springfield! If you’re looking for the best time to visit a Willamalane park, it’s hard to top the color-changing, crisp-air experiences during autumn.
While I don’t play favorites, here are a few parks I recommend you add to your must-see list this fall:
• While cruising the paved multi-use paths through Eastgate Woodlands, you can take in the river views under a canopy of yellow and orange falling leaves, visit the Talking Stones, veer into nature and running trails, stop at Heron playground, and even connect to Eugene’s Alton Baker Park along the same path, which is a short walk to Autzen Stadium. Go Ducks!

Board of Directors
Willamalane’s board is composed of five at-large members elected to serve fouryear terms. Public board meetings are usually held on the second Wednesday of the month, 6 p.m. at Bob Keefer Center for Sports and Recreation. Agendas are available the Friday before each meeting at willamalane.org/meetings.
Greg James Director

• For more fall foliage beauty, tour Georgia Pacific Natural Area by starting at Jasper Trailhead off 32nd St. Along the path, you’ll see a new viewing platform, and you might even spot some turtles on the sunniest fall days!
• While the biggest and crunchiest orange leaves are falling, try a long stroll or a nice bike ride through the 4-mile Middle Fork Path from Clearwater Park all the way to Dorris Ranch. Everything in between is worth a stop!
• Where else can you go in Springfield that’s less than three minutes from the hustle and bustle of Main Street, venture into a thickly wooded forest, and shed the stress of the world? The curved trails of Thurston Hills Natural Area offer some of the most diverse flora and fauna this area has to offer!
Our fall programs are just as exciting, with after-school care, preschool, and youth sports for kids. We also have a new slate of trips, classes, sports leagues, and fitness programs for adults. And, you’d better believe that we’re taking Halloween very seriously. From hayrides to spooky swims to ghostly golf greens, these events are fun for all ages.
We look forward to seeing you this fall!
