Wildwood is proud to introduce Shiga, a special capsule collection of lamps and vases handmade in Shigaraki, Japan. Marrying ancient techniques with modern sensibility, the collection honors the brand’s relationship that began three generations ago and celebrates a longtime collaboration.

Known for its artisan pottery and ceramic techniques, Shigaraki is a small village in the southern part of the Shiga region where the collection takes its name.

Shigaraki is one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns, sites that are considered the oldest ceramic production sites and famous for its centuries-old clay beds and kilns.

A unique clay handling technique and glaze oxidationfiring creates small batch stoneware pieces with unapologetic impurities. The result is one-of-a-kind stoneware pieces emblematic of iconic Shigaraki ware, which Wildwood has transformed into artful lamps, completed with cloth wiring, and topped with a refined rolled-edge linen shade.
