Please join Raffy for a leisurely canal canine cruise (any non-motorised craft, any pet) at 11am on Friday, 5 January, for our Doggie Dash at Quays for an excellent cause, St Francis Animal Rescue. It’s only R200, and Pam Golding and Quays will match all donations.

So Richard, why do you SUP with your dog?? I like paddling a SUP with Raffy. He likes it, too.

I like that he likes it.

My wife likes me more if I entertain Raffy. Great upper body exercise, especially into the wind and/or tide. Good core workout, balancing on the relatively unstable board, especially with a 30kg dog near the front, with me near the back.

It is more sociable than paddling a canoe/surfski, which is often too low to chat with people on the banks of the canals.

It’s fun to watch Raffy looking around, resisting his urge to bark at birds and dogs (barking can lead to him falling in!).

It’s all happening on Friday, 5 January, at 11am, when water-loving pets on non-motorised crafts will participate in our human and canine procession on the water to celebrate the start of a New Year and help SFAR raise funds to improve the quality of life of the cats and dogs of Sea Vista through sterilisation, vaccinations, medical care, feeding and grooming.

The entry fee per person and pet is R200, and all funds raised are tripled on the day as Pam Golding and The Quays will match the amount raised!

We look forward to seeing St Francis Bay’s animal lovers on a day that promises to be fun for a good cause.
