silvia vassileva Silvia Vassileva pursued her love of art at the Academy of Fine Art in Bulgaria, where she earned both her bachelors and masters degrees. She spent six years painting and exhibiting her work in Japan before moving to the U.S. Silvia describes her style as very f ree and bold. She makes her paintings come alive by using contrast and unusual color palettes. Silvia’s home studio, which she designed herself, is bright, contemporary and minimalist.

Sue Schlabach lives and works in rural Vermont where she and her family are renovating an old brick house. She loves the act of making things, whether art, food, gardens, photographs or textiles. She studied painting and photography in the late 1980s, but found herself unable to get started in her twenties. A galvanizing moment came at Charleston, the English country home of painters Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant. The house and its furnishings, all painted with simplicity and urgency, inspired her to get started and stop hesitating. She picked up a paintbrush and a camera and didn’t look back. Having a daughter also pushed the making of art to the foref ront. “Children make art without a critical f ilter,” she says, “and watching that helped me turn off the critic and get to work.” Sue works as a Creative Director and artist at Wild Apple. She makes art with ink, paint, paper, wood, old papers and canvas.

Pamela Munger grew up in southern California and now calls rural western Colorado home. The big sky, mountains and seasons are a constant nspiration for her. “Painting is a lifeline, combining creativity, solitude and limitless possibilities. I’m all about experimentation with paint, surfaces and subject matter.

I like to keep it simple, avoiding detail and not giving away the whole story.”

Pamela started painting as a creative outlet for her work as an English teacher, which soon grew to a passion. She paints with acrylics, using brushes and palette knives. Pamela and her husband co-own Misty Mountain Hop Farm and she paints full time. If she isn’t enjoying the outdoors, you’ll f ind her at her easel.

omar escalante Omar Escalante’s art style is influenced by pop art and Art Deco style. “I like to tell stories through my illustrations,” he says “Especially when I travel, I like to look for the feeling of places and show it through my work.” When he began to create artwork based on vintage travel posters, the theme became his passion.

In 2017 he won a travel poster contest promoting travel to Finland, where he lives with family. Omar grew up in Guatemala and has lived in Finland since 2007. His multicultural family (where f ive different languages might be spoken on any given day) also inspires and influences him in making his art.
