Laura visits Iceland

Iceland in November is a truly magical place and it was like nothing I’d ever seen before. The sun is low in the sky, casting the whole country in a golden glow, illuminating a landscape that is both harsh and delicate at the same time.

Large flat lava fields and glacial outwash plains suddenly become towering snowy mountains with waterfalls spilling over the edges. Herds of wild reindeer can be spotted in a distant valley, and vivid blue glacier tongues washed clean by the autumn rain flow down from the icecaps.

Swirling northern lights, curious Icelandic horses, and electric blue ice caves were just a taste of the amazing things we saw there – I would go back in a heartbeat!
