This year top media outlets and bloggers are predicting that design for the home will be more important than ever. Thanks to social media, we are increasingly obsessed with our personal style and our homes. Style influencers, designers and media gurus are fueling our need for more design with every post, tweet and photo. REFINED FARMHOUSE From vintage designs and patterns to fresh, modern botanicals, this trend is anything but rustic. Overall the look is neutral, with soft pastels and hints of black adding splashes of color and contrast to decor and accessories.

While shiplap and clean lines are the staples of this trend, designers are loving the warmer colors, textures, designs and art that are elevating this look for 2018.

I’ve loved watching this look transform from more rustic designs to the elegant art and patterns we’re now seeing evolve. Refined Farmhouse is at it’s best when mixed and matched in the home. Crisp white walls, shiplap, rustic wood tables and copper accents are the backdrop for warm fabrics, stylish dinnerware, art, patterns and more, transforming any space into the perfect farm-chic interior.

MODERN ROMANCE Pretty floral patterns and chintz are back in fashion. This isn’t your granny’s floral. Modern romance is all about taking the best of traditional design and updating it for the new millenia. The key is to mix this look with contemporary textiles and decor to create a fashionable look that doesn’t overwhelm. Look for loosely-sketched florals, watercolors and etchings in trend-forward, soft and elegant palettes.

Flowers are consistent top sellers, but how they are presented is ever-changing. I love that our artists are interpreting chinz and early 1900s floral patterns into paintings and designs that feel fresh and timely.Who knew that gray would be a gorgeous neutral for buds and blossoms? Or that layer upon layer of transparent flowers could build a garden for this new millenia?

FRESH Ever since Pantone called Greenery color of the year for 2017, shades of green and plant-inspired designs have been dominating home decor and it isn’t showing any signs of stopping.

Nothing makes me want to travel more than see globally-inspired art and design. Many of our artists travel extensively. I love hearing their stories about the amazing places and experiences that have inspired their work. From maki-tiles and mandalas to kolam patterns, paisley and more, a well-travelled look is one that never grows old.
