FM+DEX

AT SCHOOL The FM+DEX allows easy FM access at school by streaming an FM receiver to any Widex wireless hearing aid.

This provides teachers and schools a cost-friendly way to easily integrate a Widex hearing aid into the classroom regardless of the ear-level FM system being used at the school. What the student needs: FM+DEX to transmit streaming audio to the student’s Widex hearing aids One ear-level FM receiver to plug into the FM+DEX One FM transmitter for the teacher to wear to communicate to the FM receiver

Getting Started for FM Streaming 1 Charge the FM+DEX by plugging the mini-USB charger into the bottom of the FM+DEX. 2 Remove the Protective FM Cover by pressing on the sides of the cover and pulling straight down.

3 Plug an FM receiver into the FM+DEX by aligning the 3 pins into the FM receiver plug-in. If you feel resistance, rotate the FM receiver so that the pins align correctly according to thickness.

NOTE: ALL major manufacturers’ 3-pin FM receivers will work with the FM+DEX. 4 Turn the FM switch to the left (symbol on FM+DEX shows 3 circles).

5 Slide the tamper switch to the left to lock the FM+DEX to FM mode for young students 6 Attach the protective FM cover again 7 Slide up on the on/off switch to turn on the FM+DEX. Have the student wear it within 1 ft of the hearing aids with either the included belt clip or antenna neckloop.

FM+DEX AT SCHOOL Daily Use Charge nightly for approximately 10 hours of continuous streaming.

NOTE: The first charge will take approximately 4 hours; subsequent charges will take approximately 2 hours.

For FM streaming, turn the device on by sliding up on the on/off switch.

To change the streaming to Audio or Telecoil, press the front toggle button until the green LED light is highlighted on the desired streaming mode.

Audio should be used for when the student is using the FM+DEX to substitute headphones. Connect the included audio cable to the base of the FM+DEX and to the device where headphones would normally be plugged in.

Telecoil should be used for areas where a loop system is installed.

Keep the FM+DEX within approximately 1 ft. of the hearing aids with the included clip or antenna neckloop.

Adjust volume louder or softer as needed.

Turn the FM+DEX off at the end of day before charging.

No sound is streaming from the FM+DEX to the hearing aids

Verify that the FM+DEX is turned on Move the FM+DEX within 1 ft of the hearing aids Verify streaming source is connected: For FM – verify FM receiver is plugged in securely

For Audio – verify audio cord is securely plugged into the FM+DEX and audio source For Telecoil – verify in proximity to loop system

Streaming is interrupted

Move the FM+DEX closer to the hearing aids Look for potential devices causing interference and try to increase the distance between devices Verify battery is charged

The input toggle switch does not change input source

Verify the FM+DEX is turned on Verify battery is charged and the FM+DEX is not plugged into the charger Verify the tamper-resistant switch is unlocked
