WIDEX 2.4 GHz WITH CAR BLUETOOTH Overview Audio can be streamed to both Widex 2.4 GHz hearing aids and car Bluetooth systems; however, there may be instances in which the two devices conflict. There are a few ways to route the audio to ensure that the audio only goes to the device of your choice.

Note: Not all car Bluetooth systems will be compatible with the following.

Audio Routing Options The audio routing setting for the iPhone® is used to choose which audio is played in your hearing aids. This setting is accessed by going to Settings > General > Accessibility > MFi Hearing Aids > Audio Routing. By default, Call and Media audio will both be set to automatic. This means the phone will try to predict whether you want the audio to go to your hearing aids or to another output.

1 If you prefer Call Audio to stream through your hearing aids: Change Call Audio to Always Hearing Aids 2 If you prefer Call Audio to stream through your car’s Bluetooth system: Change Call Audio to Never Hearing Aids ote: Having Call Audio set to Never Hearing Aids will still allow you to manually change to your hearing aids for N calls once a call is initiated. To switch to your hearing aids, simply tap on the “Audio” button on the call screen and select your hearing aids.

WIDEX 2.4GHz WITH CAR BLUETOOTH (CON’T.) Disable Streaming In some instances, setting Call Audio Routing to Never Hearing Aids still does not prevent the two devices from conflicting. In these cases, there are three options:

Option 1: Turn off Play Ringtones This is done by navigating to Settings > General> Accessibility > MFi Hearing Aids > Play Ringtones. Turn this to Off. Note: This will make it so that you no longer hear the phone ring through your hearing aids. The phone will still ring through your phone.

Option 2: Set Call Audio Routing to Bluetooth Headset This setting is found in Settings > General> Accessibility > Call Audio Routing.

Option 3: Disable the streaming functionality of your hearing aids This is done by navigating to Settings > General > Accessibility > MFi Hearing Aids > Tap on the name of your hearing aids and you will see a setting that says Stream to left hearing aid and another that says Stream to right hearing aid. Turning off these settings will prevent your phone from attempting to stream audio to your hearing aid, which will allow your phone to default to your car’s Bluetooth system.

Note: You will need to re-enable this setting to stream audio to your hearing aids when you are no longer in your car.

WIDEX 2.4 GHz WITH CAR BLUETOOTH (CON’T.) Unpair From Car’s Bluetooth System If you would like to have audio streamed to your hearing aids while you are in your car, and you no longer want to use your car’s Bluetooth system, you may choose to unpair your phone from your car’s Bluetooth system. To unpair your phone from your car’s Bluetooth system navigate to Settings > Bluetooth > Tap on the blue “i” icon to the right of your car’s Bluetooth within the list of My Devices, and then tap on Forget This Device. You will be prompted with the option to Forget Device or Cancel, tap on Forget Device.

Note: You will need to re-pair your phone to your car’s Bluetooth system before you can reconnect to it after unpairing. Please consult your car’s user manual or contact the manufacturer for instructions on how to do so.
