TECHNICAL TIP TV-DEX TROUBLESHOOTING FOR STREAMING PROBLEM: NO STREAMING

PROBLEM: STREAMING ONLY TO ONE AID

Has the pairing been checked between the TV-DEX and hearing aid(s)? Re-syncronizing the pairing can be done through Compass/GPS. Alternatively, a “quick match” can be attempted by simultaneously pressing the “+” and “-” keys while holding the TV-DEX controller at the chin and listening for a confirmation tone in the hearing aid. Always open/close hearing aid battery door to activate programming changes.

Were both hearing aids successfully paired to the TV-DEX? Re-syncronize the pairing in Compass/GPS or attempt a “quick match”. Always open/close hearing aid battery door to activate programming changes. Is the TV-DEX set to binaural listening? On the underside of the base there is a switch that must be set to two aids for a binaural fitting and one aid for a monaural fitting.

Is TV-DEX base plugged in? Try a different outlet. Place TV-DEX controller into the base for 5 seconds to synchronize.

Is the TV-DEX controller charged? TV-DEX must be charged with the dedicated Widex cable. Although other cables look similar and will appear to charge the TV-DEX, they do not transmit the signal appropriately.

Make sure both red and white RCA plugs are plugged securely into “Audio Out” port on the back of the TV. If the TV has only one port then it may be necessary to purchase an adapter. (Available at most electronics stores.)

Are TV-DEX and hearing aid(s) within range? Range of TV-DEX to hearing aid(s) must be within 1 meter (3 feet). Range of TV-DEX to base must be within 10 meters (30 feet). Is the” jack to phono” cable (red/white male RCA to 3.5 mm black male cord) plugged into the TV jack in the rear of the base?

PROBLEM: HEARING AN ECHO OR BAD SOUND QUALITY Is the TV-DEX base connected directly to the TV? The TV-DEX Base can be connected directly to the audio-out port on a TV. In some situations it should be connected to a cable or satellite box, stereo or gaming system, or a DVD player. The TV-DEX should be connected to the audio source of the entertainment system.

Is TV-DEX controller turned on? Press top left button to turn on.

Use the “jack to jack cable” to stream with another audio device (i.e. Smartphone, tablet or computer). Plug the cable into the receptacle marked “audio” on the rear of the base and into the 3.5mm receptacle of the other audio device. To activate audio streaming, press the “on/ off” button once. Press “on/off” button twice if the RCA cord is still connected to the receptacle marked “TV” on the rear of the base in order to activate audio streaming from the “jack to jack” source.

Try switching out one TV-DEX component at a time to determine “weak link”. This includes the television, the outlet, the power cord, the RCA cord, the base and the controller.

Make sure all connections are secure and plugged in tightly.
