The Plantronics BT300/BT600 are Bluetooth USB adapters that can connect to a computer directly or through the Plantronics MDA220. You may pair the BT300/BT600 with a COM-DEX so that audio may be streamed to the COM-DEX and so that the COM-DEX may be used as a microphone.

To pair the BT300/BT600 to your COM-DEX: 1. Make sure COM-DEX is fully charged and turned off (loop of COM-DEX is open) 2. Turn Bluetooth off or power off any devices paired to COM-DEX 3. Plug Plantronics BT300/BT600 into your computer’s USB port (if using a BT600, put it into pairing mode by pressing and holding the recessed pair button until the adapter flashes red and blue) 4. C lose the loop on your COM-DEX 5. While searching, your COM-DEX will flash red and blue. The COM-DEX will stop flashing when the devices are paired

a. When paired, BT300 will display a solid blue light for 5 seconds, and the light will proceed to flash

b. When paired, BT600 will display a solid blue light

6. You can now hear audio from the computer through the COM-DEX to the hearing aids. If on a call through the computer, the microphone of the COM-DEX will work for outgoing audio

Plantronics MDA220 allows the COM-DEX to be used with a PC and a landline

The MDA220 allows you to use the COM-DEX with your computer and a landline. The MDA220 must be used with either the BT300 or the BT600 to connect with the COM-DEX.

To pair the MDA220 to your COM-DEX (if COM-DEX has never been paired to BT300/BT600): 1. Make sure COM-DEX is fully charged and turned off (loop of COM-DEX is open) 2. Turn Bluetooth off or power off any devices paired to COM-DEX 3. Plug Plantronics MDA220 into your computer’s USB port 4. P lug Plantronics BT300/BT600 into your MDA220’s USB port (front of device) (if using a BT600, put it into pairing mode by pressing and holding the recessed pair button until the adapter flashes red and blue) 5. Close the loop on your COM-DEX 6. While searching, your COM-DEX will flash red and blue. The COM-DEX will stop flashing when the devices are paired

7. The patient can now hear audio from the computer through the COM-DEX to the hearing aids. If on a call through the computer, the microphone of the COM-DEX will work for outgoing audio

To pair the MDA220 to your COM-DEX (if COM-DEX has never been paired to BT300/BT600): 1. Plug Plantronics MDA220 into your computer’s USB port 2. Plug Plantronics BT300/BT600 into your MDA220’s USB port (front of device) 3. Close the loop on your COM-DEX Make sure you connect your landline to the MDA220 using the supplied cables

COM-DEX AND PLANTRONICS FAQs

1. I own Widex BEYOND hearing aids. Do I still need to use the COM-DEX even though my hearing aids have Bluetooth?

Yes. The Plantronics BT200/BT600 cannot pair directly to your hearing aids.

2. Why am I not getting any sound from my computer?

Make sure that the volume on your computer is not muted and that Plantronics BT300/BT600 is the selected output/playback device.

3. Why do I need the BT300/BT600 to use the MDA220?

The MDA220 does not have Bluetooth. It relies on the BT300/BT600 for Bluetooth connectivity.

4. When would I need the MDA220?

To use your COM-DEX with a landline, you will need to use the MDA220. If you are only connecting to a computer, then you will only need either the BT300 or the BT600.

5. What is the difference between the BT300 and the BT600?

The difference between the two devices is that the BT600 has a range of 90 feet, whereas the BT300 has a range of 30 feet. The range for COM-DEX is approximately 30 feet and therefore either BT device is appropriate for use.
