TECHNICAL TIP

PHONE-DEX QUESTIONS & ANSWERS PHONE-DEX is an all-purpose, cordless phone for landline use that streams sound directly to the hearing aids. It communicates via WidexLink and transmits the phone signal in both ears.

Q: How to use PHONE-DEX?

Q: Does PHONE-DEX require any pairing with the aids?

A: It is used as a landline phone.

A: No. PHONE-DEX automatically communicates with the wireless products via WidexLink as soon as you hold the DEX close to the hearing aid(s).

Q: How do I connect PHONE-DEX? A: Connect the telephone line cord to the wall jack and to the telephone base. Connect the telephone power cord to the base and to an electrical outlet. Insert the batteries in accordance with the markings, and then place the handset into the base unit with the keypad facing outward to charge. If your telephone line is through your DSL Internet provider, you may need to install a DSL filter between the telephone line cord and the wall jack. Contact your DSL provider for more information. Q: How do I change volume on PHONE-DEX? A: While on a call, press the up arrow key to increase volume (you may go up a maximum of six steps); and the down arrow to decrease or silence the ringer. When finished, press the Menu/ Select to save these settings. Pressing MUTE/DELETE or CLEAR will temporarily silence the ringer when the handset is ringing.

You may add (or “register”) your PHONE-DEX on the GPS software on the “Handling Page” Q: What is the range between PHONE-DEX and Hearing Aids? A: Hold PHONE-DEX close to the hearing aids, within 4-6 inches. You will hear a chime in the hearing aids once they detect the PHONE-DEX. Q: What is the range of PHONE-DEX from the base? A: PHONE-DEX can be up to 900 feet away from the base station depending on the surroundings. Q: How long does it take to charge PHONE-DEX? Q: Can PHONE-DEX be mounted on the wall?

Q: How long does the battery last?

A: No.

A: When the batteries are relatively new (less than 6 months) and fully-charged (10 hours) they will last for approximately 100 hours standby time or approximately 10 hours call time.
