OUTDOOR ADVENTURE It’s hard to choose favorites, but here are our top picks.
BEACH ACCESS
BOAT / KAYAK LAUNCHES
ROARING POINT is located on the Nanticoke River, surrounded by dense trees and wildlife. A short path leads to a nearly one-mile stretch of beach.
CEDAR HILL MARINA is located on the Nanticoke River, offering boat slips, a dual concrete boat ramp, floating dock, pump-out station, and restroom and shower facilities.
COVE ROAD BEACH is long and narrow with tall beach grass separating it from the parking lot and shaded picnic tables. TYASKIN PARK is home to a small beach area and large pier perfect for fishing or crabbing.
LEONARD’S MILL PARK features a boat ramp with access to Leonard’s Mill Pond, a new dog park, pavilion, picnic tables, and a horseshoe pit. Centrally located to Downtown Salisbury, the RIVERSIDE BOAT RAMP provides direct access to the Wicomico River.

PEMBERTON HISTORICAL PARK is a 262-acre expanse of nature and wildlife. The park surrounds Pemberton Hall, which is a plantation home built in 1741. Pemberton’s trail system includes seven trails ranging in distance from .2 to 1.1 miles.
HARMON FIELD features 12 new pickleball courts, two basketball courts and a playground.
WINTERPLACE PARK is located right off of Route 50 and has 3.2 miles of trails to explore. NAYLOR MILL FOREST is home to biking-hiking-running trails created by locals. There are five miles of trails in the forest.
SCHUMAKER PARK is an 11-acre wooded area along Schumaker Pond. The park’s claim to fame is the 18-hole disc golf course, with multiple tees and pins on every hole. The HENRY S. PARKER ATHLETIC COMPLEX is the area’s premier baseball/softball tournament facility. It also houses Field 7 ½, designed to provide individuals with physical or mental disabilities the opportunity to play baseball. Field 7 ½ is complemented by the Donnie Williams Inclusive Playground, built for all abilities.
FAMILY-FRIENDLY OUTINGS The SALISBURY ZOO was founded in 1954 after animals were placed on permanent exhibition in Salisbury City Park. Today, the zoo provides naturalistic enclosures for species native to North, Central and South America. The zoo is open 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. every day, with the exception of Thanksgiving and Christmas. Families who visit the zoo often spend time at BEN’S RED SWINGS, located immediately outside the zoo’s west entrance. The playground is one of Salisbury’s largest, and features swings, slides, monkey bars, sandboxes, a climbing wall and picnic tables. Both the zoo and playground are located within SALISBURY CITY PARK. The park is also home to a dog park, tennis courts, skate park, walking trails and bike trails. The park surrounds PARK LAKE, a popular fishing spot to catch and release catfish, largemouth bass, perch, carp and the occasional Chesapeake Channa (aka snakehead).
MORE FUN FOR THE FAMILY DELMARVA SHOREBIRDS The Delmarva Shorebirds, a Baltimore Orioles Single-A affiliate, are in season from April to early September at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. theshorebirds.com

HISTORICAL SITES Maryland’s Wicomico County is home to many historical sites. Here are the most-visited. PEMBERTON HALL Built along the Wicomico River in the 18th century, Pemberton Hall has been fully restored to reflect pre-Revolutionary times. pembertonhallfoundation.com POPLAR HILL MANSION + NEWTOWN HISTORIC DISTRICT Poplar Hill Mansion, circa 1805, is the oldest surviving building in the city of Salisbury.
