ฉันทนาเป็นสาวโรงงานที่เดินทางเข้ามาเพื่อหางานทำในเมืองหลวง ฉันทนาคิดว่าการทำงานในโรงงานจะสามารถปลดภาระหนี้สินทางบ้าน เธอทิ้งความฝันในช่วง ม.ปลาย “ฉันอยากเรียนศิลปะ แต่ฉันมาได้เพียงเท่านี้ ฉันคงต้องทำงานอย่างนี้ต่อ ไปเรื่อยๆ” เธอจึงตัดสินใจเข้ามาเมืองกรุง ใช้แรงแลกเงิน “ฉันทนา” นามสมมุติของสาวโรงงานและแรงบันดาลใจจากบทสัมภาร์ณสาวโรงงาน
