She’s tough, she’s black and she’s beautiful. And, here she is, from Northeast, D.C., Miss USA. Deshauna Barber, who serves in the United States Army Reserves in Maryland and ulti-

mately made her home in the District, became the first military member to win the Miss USA pageant. Her answer to a question about women in combat may have put her over the top with judges. “As a woman in the United

By Stacy M. Brown WI Senior Writer George Foreman was perhaps the biggest of all of Muhammad Ali’s greatest ring victories. And, Foreman, who was knocked out by The Champ in Zaire, Africa in an epic 1974 bout, was among the first to pay homage to the fallen champion when news of his death spread late Friday, June 3. “It’s been said it was ‘rope

a dope’ Ali beat me with,” Foreman said. “No, it was his beauty that beat me. The most beauty I've known. I loved him.” At the age of 74 and after a long time battle with Parkinson’s disease, the world-renowned champion died at a Phoenix, Arizona-area hospital. The iconic sports figure was fighting respiratory issues that were complicated by the Parkinson's that he was diag-

nosed with in the 1980s, the Associated Press reported. Ali had been hospitalized several times in recent years. Ali’s family said his funeral would be held in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. In a statement, Ali's family thanked the public for the outpouring of support. Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer ordered flags to be lowered
