Supreme Court Upholds Obama Health Care Plan By Barrington Salmon WI Staff Writer President Barack Obama’s signature health care plan received crucial support from the Supreme Court last Thursday when the justices, led by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. voted 5-to-4 to uphold the 2010 Pa-

tient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA). Given the conservative bent of the court, observers leaned to the notion that the plan, or vital portions of it, would be struck down, but in the end, Roberts sided with the liberal wing to give Obama validation for legislation that could define his presi-

dency. A senior White House official applauded the ruling as Obama and members of his administration savored the victory. “This is an historic day. This is a clear and final ruling by the court,” the official said during a June 28 interview, hours after the ruling came down. “Hardwork-
